Altea Villa Rental Photos and Description

Villa, 5 Bedrooms + Office, 3.5 Baths, (Sleeps 10-12)

The villa is located in the Sierra Altea, on the 7th fairway of the Don Cayo Golf Club, less than a 10 minute drive to beautiful Costa Blanca beaches. Situated in the Province of Alicante within the Valencia Region, the villa is nestled in the charming fishing town of Altea within walking distance to the old village of Altea La Vella. There is easy access to/from both Alicante & Valencia airports via the well-maintained Autopista AP7.

Altea is the International Center for the musical arts and also the center for fine arts for the Valencia Region. The School for the Fine, Musical & Media Arts of the University of Alicante is located in the town. The cosmopolitan yet unassuming town is rich in local culture and architecture and welcomes visitors from all over Europe as a popular vacation destination. The local cuisine is fabulous, from light fresh seafood & vegetables grown in the region, to its famous rice dishes. Food & Wine Magazine named the Alicante Region 'The next food mecca' in 2011. There are many restaurants in Altea & Altea la Vella with broad variety in both menu and price. The Valencia region is of course, the birthplace of paella and known for its wide range of rice dishes.

The striking Costa Blanca is known for its Sierra-like granite rock mountains, white beaches & fabulous weather, much like San Diego, dry, sunny and moderate. There is always a gentle breeze off the bright blue Mediterranean Sea to cool the hot days. Average rainfall is about 10 inches per year.

This charming 35+ year old villa has been completely renovated. It is very spacious with an open floor plan that includes a formal dining room, large island 'American' kitchen, living room, & expansive covered outdoor living area on the main level with the pool terrace and striking 180 degree views from the sea to the mountains. Located on a cul de sac in a safe, upscale neighborhood, with an electric security gate & intercom.

The Master Suite is located on the main floor, with four additional spacious bedrooms located on the lower level. The house also has a separate office with a Queen size sofabed and wireless Internet access throughout. The villa is surrounded by a beautiful, mature & well-maintained garden that includes fruit trees, flowers & many exotic plants.

The panoramic views from the main pool terraces include the Mediterranean Sea, the mountains, the distant city skylines of Benidorm and others, and sits in the center of the scenic 7th fairway of the Club Don Cayo Golf Course. The beach is just a few minutes drive away.

The oversized master suite offers direct access to the pool terrace, has a King size bed, a large round spa bath tub, large shower, two sinks, a secluded toilet area and four closets. The rest of the four bedrooms are beautifully furnished, spacious, also with large closets. One downstairs bedroom is en suite & two of the downstairs bedrooms offer private terraces.

You can walk to the local village of Altea la Vella in 15 minutes, drive into the main town of Altea and beach in about 5 minutes. There are also many attractions, activities and points of interest for the entire family, within 15 to 30 minutes of the villa.

About Mary

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. After traveling for work all over Europe, I fell in love with Spain, the Mediterranean Sea, the lovely Spanish culture, the amazing food and the Spanish people. Visiting the Valencia Region, I fell in love with Altea and bought this villa. A couple of years later, the movie, 'Under the Tuscan Sun' came out and my friends told me it reminded them of my adventure in Spain, remodeling the villa and getting to know the charm of this beautiful town and WONDERFUL people!

Mary purchased this villa in 2000

Why Mary chose Altea

Recently distinguished as a 'National Treasure' of Spain, Altea is a small fishing town, with a strong Spanish culture and vibrant artist community, and so cosmopolitan. I love being so close to the incredible Med Sea. And, in less than an hour in any direction you can be in some of the most wonderful cities!

What makes this villa unique

Unbelievable views, great location with so much to do within 20 minutes in any direction, comfortable Spanish charm, and great weather. Bullet train from Valencia to Madrid in 1 hour 20 minutes. It's a special place!

Lovely home--spacious, clean, great view, clean pool. 10 of us had a stress-free 9-night family holiday. Staff was friendly and helpful. Thank you!

Best rental experience ever

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing time and the house is spectacular. The photos don't do it justice. Mary's attention to detail and focus on comfort are so appreciated. We were 10 people (7 adults and 3 children from 3-14 years old) and never for one minute did we feel crowded or uncomfortable. It is exactly what the whole family needed and we are so grateful to have had such a beautiful, peaceful, and well-cared-for home to stay in. Mary is a gem and her helpfulness and positive energy in every communication made this, by far, the best rental experience ever.

Will return soon

  • 5 of 5

We are a group of four who rented the beautiful villa for the new year holiday week. It was a perfect accommodation for a perfect vacation. The location is central - quick access to altea downtown with great restaurants (we fell in Love with Spanish food and wine!), a short drive to Calpe (must hike the Calpe rock, better yet climb all the way up for the adventurous), and a short drive to Guadalest (for the history buff), and benidorm... The property is beautifully maintained and tastefully decorated. We loved hanging out on the terrace, with music, drinks and a great view. It was a bit cool end of December to use the pool, we would love to come back to use it. The master bedroom is simply perfect and separated from other bedrooms on the lower floor. The garden is also well maintained. When we were there, the orange trees were harvesting, we enjoyed fresh oranges every morning.

Fabulous Villa Charlotte in Altea, Spain

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I were so fortunate to spend 2 weeks in this beautiful home overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and the mountains! We spent long hours by the pool and watched some stunning sunsets! The location is perfect. We could walk to the local shopping area where we could have breakfast, buy fresh bread at the bakery and fresh produce. We stayed at the villa for 2 weeks and had the most relaxing and enjoyable time!! We went the first two weeks in June and the weather was perfect. We visited the beautiful beaches of Calpe, Guadalest and had many lunches at Altea old town. The owner Mary had great suggestions for restaurants and shopping in the area!. Villa Charlotte was by far one of the best homes that we have rented in Spain and we cannot wait to go back.

The property is very clean and well maintained and I would highly recommend this property to my friends and relatives!

Christmas in Spain

  • 5 of 5

It is the little things which makes a memory, makes a vacation into a great family reunion. From Pepe meeting us at the door much after our original arrival time, to the spotless rooms, abundant kitchen including the surprisingly well stocked refrigerator, everything was as indicated in the review. Just simply outstanding. There were 8 in our group all coming in from different locations and we found the house was open, inviting and easy to get comforable. The Owner had personally provided suggestions on restaurants, shopping and places of interests in the area. On the bookshelf were additional area maps, regional books and other reading material just in case! Our stay was for 8 nights and to say we enjoyed seems not enough. All of us, my adult children and partners, have put this location top of our list, which includes Hawaii, Canada, Florida. The view from the elevated setting of the house and those magnificent sunsets - it is the little things. We have already started to plan our return.
