About Jennifer Taylor

Collage is not only my medium as an artist, it best describes my life. I've traveled extensively throughout the world and have lived in France, Spain and New York City. I have worked as a fashion model, singer/songwriter and now as a full time artist, working in my studio out on Gordon Lane. I've had a variety of exhibitions worldwide, exhibited at the United Nations building in New York and at the world renowned Museo Vittoriano in Rome, Italy. I've done installations for Gallagher's Art and Fashion Gallery in Manhattan, and for French designer Catherine Malandrino's Soho store. My works are in private collections throughout the world. I have been coming to Mendocino my whole life, at first to visit my Grandmother and now as a homeowner for the last 20 years. I love to introduce people to this beautiful and unique area and enjoy meeting people from around the world that come here to visit.

Jennifer Taylor purchased this studio in 1995

Why Jennifer Taylor chose Mendocino

I was looking for a forested piece of property where I could build a barnlike structure for my studio and also have a living space that would work well for a vacation rental. When I found these 5 acres so close to town, I knew I had found the perfect spot. As I do not live on the property, this works out really well, as I only work when then place is not rented.

What makes this studio unique

The proximity to Mendocino village, the privacy and total silence other than birds and the sound of the wind in the redwoods makes this place perfect for those that are seeking refuge. It instills creativity and thought, peace and harmony. From the front door you can walk through your own forest or go on a long walk down Gordon Lane and across State Park to the headlands.

Lovely Place

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I loved the Forrest Suite. The view of the forrest from the room and the deck was very pretty. The little kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to make an awesome breakfast. We couldn't believe how quiet it was and if you listened carefully you could hear the ocean and the seals. The deck was perfect for having an afternoon cocktail. The only minor drawback was that the bed was too soft for us and seemed to have a low spot in the middle. Otherwise everything else was great and we really enjoyed our stay!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review! The bed at Forrest Suite has a Sleep Innovation memory foam topper. Most people enjoy the comfort, but please feel free to remove it if you do not. I will turn the mattress over, which is always a good thing to do!

Everything was perfect! The Forrest Suite is so quiet and private with everything you need. Kayaked all day every day. Perfect weather and water. Forgot my French press, I'm leaving one next time!

Saw lots of seals up close, lots of birds and wildlife!

Thank you Jennifer for letting us stay at you beautiful place!

Peaceful Retreat

  • 5 of 5

the Forest Suite is a quiet, tranquil oasis for anyone looking for a little privacy and solitude. I used it for a writing retreat and nearly completed a book. It was close to many beautiful attractions, but I could have been happy never leaving the comfort and beauty of the apartment. It was well-maintained and clean. I highly recommend it.

Wonderful weekend away

  • 5 of 5

Stayed at the Forest Suite for our anniversary. It could not have been more wonderful. The cabin is clean, well maintained, and very well equipped. We'd never stayed at a VRBO before and were a little nervous, but the cabin completely exceeded our expectations. It's not far from town, but also has excellent privacy. Couldn't have been a better weekend away!

Honeymoon Bliss

  • 5 of 5

We could not have asked for a better Honeymoon spot--private, surrounded by Redwood forest and the crisp ocean air; beautiful, the style and design of the suite with its rustic wood is cute and cozy; comfortable, with a full kitchen we made our own meals most nights and always had the option to lounge about, play games, read and write out on the patio/balcony area when we weren't exploring town (a five minute drive), dining out, enjoying musical concerts, canoeing on Big River, hiking in the National Parks, or picnicking by the ocean. Jennifer made everything easy and was a great help in making our stay extra special. When I saw all the high ratings, I thought it must be too good to be true, but it turns out it is both good and true. My wife and I consider ourselves very fortunate to have resided here for a time. We hope to return.

Amazing! Perfect Location

  • 5 of 5

We were thrilled with our stay in this enchanting loft. It was tranquil, quiet, secluded, charming, and just perfect. If you are looking for peace and an escape from life in general this is the place to be. You overlook the trees and are in a forest but in less than five minutes you are on the coast watching the waves crashing against the rocks and walking around the charming little town of Mendocino. Our job each day was to explore the many state parks in the surrounding area Russian Gulch, Point Cabrillo, Jug Handle, MacKerricher, Glass Beach, Van Damme, Mendocino Headlands and Hendy Woods. It was so awesome to return to our little loft and just be. I have a lot of food allergies so it was wonderful to shop (fresh food and veggies at nearby market) and cook at "home", made my life easier and worry free. Fully stocked kitchen with anything and everything you would need to cook any meal. Thank you Jennifer it is a lovely place, I wish I was still there!!
