An acre of manicured lawns, private sandy bottom beach with 2 piers, with lounge area for relaxing and boat docking, raft and a huge water trampoline.! Great for all ages. On the beach a boathouse with living room and extra bedroom/changing room - ideal for waterside relaxing. Beach side fire pit with built around seating for cozy evenings by the water under the stars. Gourmet gas grill on the deck for outdoor entertaining with great views!. The house is designed to be a happy, energizing and relaxing family retreat, fully equipped with all the kitchen equipment and tools for the most serious of cooks. Plenty of dining space, seating up to 20. Open plan kitchen, dining and living area. 2 fireplaces. Lots of sleeping arrangements. 3 TVs with DVD, VHS and stereos.

Private Beach and Water Trampoline: PRIVATE BEACH AND WATER TRAMPOLINE: Huvila Finlandia is a perfect location for a family vacation. Sitting on top of a hill it offers wonderful views of the lake. An acre of manicured lawns, private sandy bottom beach, 2 piers (with lounge area) for relaxing and/or docking boats, a floating raft and a huge water trampoline (great for all ages) for guests private use. Lounging on the pier, guests can enjoy the fun 'wake boarding show' that goes by. At the beach, a boat house with living room and extra bedroom/changing room, with stereos, refrigerator and comfortable lounge area for waterside relaxing. Beach side fire pit with built around seating, great for night time family get together with s'mores. Outdoor dining areas both by the beach as well as up on the deck with view all around. Great gourmet gas grill, lounge area and hammock on the deck. Night time star gazing at its best. Swings are hung from the big old maple and elm trees for kids enjoyment. Beautiful scenery. Tranquility.

Scandinavian Cottage: Huvila Finlandia is a charming, Scandinavian style lake cottage, providing all the necessities for a relaxing getaway. There is a fireplace and a wood burning stove in the house, for cozy evenings. Kitchen is fully equipped for the most serious of a cook and ready for family dinner parties. The open plan living, kitchen and dining area offers a perfect place for the whole family to be together. There is plenty of table space for a large group. 3 tables seat up to 18-20 people. Stereo, 3 tvs, dvd and vhs players for entertainment. Cable TV and WiFi !

The design is clean, fresh and cheerful. Scandinavian cottage: blue, white and a pinch of yellow. Off white ceramic tile floors through out, for clean low allergen environment. Pretty china and glass cabine full of wine glasses waiting for the vacation to start....

Jefferson Island on Powers Lake: Huvila Finlandia cottage is situated in the middle o the Powers Lake, on Jefferson Island. Walking distance to few restaurants, others accessible by boat or car. On he lake the social scene is busy, there is the wonderful and popular 'rock bar' - a shallow area in the middle of the lake where boats anchor and people mingle and have fun (volley ball and cook outs in the middle of the lake). The 4th of July fireworks on this lake are impressive, the Powers Lake Yacht Club even host a Venetian Carnival - a must see - as pontoon boats get dressed up and parade around the lake competing for a winner! Sailing school for children, regattas, dinner parties, ladies tennis, all part of the club activities.

Lots of festivals! To mention few: Country Thunder Concert (mins away), Alpine Valley summer concerts and Lake Geneva has events through out summer...

Guests may bring their own boats and dock at Huvila Finlandia's pier. Boats can be rented nearby on the lake.

  • There are beds spaces for 12 in the main house plus an additional queen size sofa bed in the living room. In the boathouse, there is a bedroom that has a bunk bed for 3 people and a queen size sofa bed in the living room. The boathouse does not have a bathroom, guests must use the main house bathrooms. The main house has a fun bedroom specially for kids with 3 twin bunk beds (sleeps 6). It has a sitting/play area with TV, DVD and VHS player, books and toys. The other 3 bedrooms are comfortable doubles or queen, one with TV. All the bedrooms have ceiling fans. There are various other fans around the house. All the windows have screens. We recommend keeping all the windows open during summer time as there is a lovely breeze coming from the lake cooling the house naturally during hot weather. All together on the property there are bed spaces for 17 people.

Perfect for my big family!

My family is from the midwest, and I live in San Francisco with my husband and four children. I wanted to have my children get to know their cousins (whom they barely see) that live in Chicago, so I booked this vacation home for our fall family celebration.
This house was ideal for us. While the grown ups were relaxing on the pier, watching the swans swim by (never seen a family of swans before), the kids would be fishing, swimming, swinging in the swings, or jumping on the huge water trampoline in front of us. The huge deck with a great view, was a wonderful place to have our cook outs even with a fire in a firepit.
The place looks nice on the website, but when we first arrived, I was blown away by how clean, greatly decorated and well accommodated for the house was. This house is a true deam lake home. Our kids loved the kids room, it gave the cousins a chance to spend a lot of time together. The early fall was lovely and now we plan to return during winter to ice skate on the lake. Thank you so much for giving my family a chance at a beautiful and affordable vacation.

AMAZING vacation home!

This house comes HIGHLY recommened from both me and my family members! The home was even more beautiful as pictured. The home was immaculate upon arrival! And there was enough sleeping space to accomadate even a large family like my own. The kids enjoyed the "kids" room with all of the toys and videos. The kitchen was the perfect setting for preparing meals and enjoying time with family. The porch set up an amazing over look of the lake and the bar and firepit made it the perfect summer hang out. The yard was large, the perfect place for the kids to run and they also enjoyed the tree swings! The boat house was the perfect little hideout! And the water trampoline provided hours of entertainment for not only the kids but also the adults! It is the perfect place to relax & kick back and also the perfect setting for a family get together. The owners were more than accomadating and VERY kind. We recieved our security deposit back in a very timely manner. I will be spreading the word about how wonderful this home is and the amazing time that we had there!

An Outstanding Trip/Location/Property

This property worked out perfectly for our group of 14 (7 adults & 7 "kids" ages 13 - 25). The owner was great to work with during booking - very responsive. The house was clean upon arrival and in good order - this is a lake house though not the Four Seasons. The lake was great (rented a pontoon) - managable, safe, not too crowded. Dock and trampoline ideal. Back deck - FANTASTIC - huge for coffee/fires/etc!!! Very close to Lake Geneva. Kitchen was well equiped with supplies in decent/workable shape. While not enough to move us off an 'excellent' rating - some things to note...we didn't find the boat house 'sleepable' per se...no air conditioning (needed in late July), no bathroom and a good walk up to the house. So all 14 of us did fine in the main house (2 on the daybeds in the living room) but we did have a few lines with only 2 bathrooms. Will certainly consider rebooking next year!!!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your notes. I am sorry if you did not find the boathouse comfortable during your stay. Most times people love to sleep there actually. It offers a rustic lakeside experience which has been a positive addition to the lakehouse vacation to many people. I do understand that it has been very hot in the Chicagoland this summer and without a/c in the boathouse it might endeed feel hot. I wonder if you had the sliding doors and all windows open? Normally there is a nice breeze blowing from the lake as this is right by the waters edge. I will take note and install a/c into the boathouse for next summer. An absolute delight!

You will fall in love with the place at first glance. The place has a warm feeling of home. The ineterior is very peaceful and relaxing and has an open space feel with stunning views! Waking up to calm peaceful surroundings is priceless and once the sun is high up the water activities are endless! My children ages 9, 12 spent hours on the trampoline while their mother sipped cocktails laying on the sunny deck with her friends! This is truly is a memorable vacation! The kitchen is fully equipped and you can cook for a big party and the oversized grill outside is an added bonus!
The two fire pits were a big attraction for the kids and grownups for after dinner somore's!
The activities are endless as the lake offers a great fishing experience! we were shocked when one of the adults caught a fish big enough to feed 20! alas the line wasnt strong enough but the excitement was worth the effort!
Local restaurants and bars are within walking distance and you could chose to take your boat there! It's not what you'd expect in a small place! But if you're looking for partying all night you'll find it walking down the road for five minutes!!
This is the vacation home that will leave you with memories for a lifetime!

Wonderful weekend getaway

What a wonderful place to go to get away from it all. My family/friends just had a fabulous time here. The property was exactly like the pictures. Comfy well furnished house with all the amenities we would want on our vacation. But of course the crowning glory is the lakeside. Kids absolutely loved the trampoline, roasting marshmallows by the lake-edge fire pit. Refreshing swims in the lake! The wisteria draped deck was made for relaxing. The short drive back to Chicago was great too, could really make the most of our time there. We definitely feel "Wonderfulized" after our break there. Would recommend to anyone!
