The Unique Benefits of this House: Eleuthera is a quiet out island of the Bahamas with friendly people and a laid back lifestyle. We felt safe and comfortable the first time we arrived almost 10 years ago.
It also offers some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Signs designating public beach access dot the Queens Highway and are there to explore.
The Unique Benefits of this House
You can watch the sunrise from bed or sit on the deck with a cool drink and watch the sunset. The full wrap around deck also allows views of the ocean or a small lake to the rear with migratory birds, Heron, Egret, and waterfowl.
This was the second time that my husband and I have stayed at Villa Sylphide . This year, we stayed for two weeks ( Dec 21-Jan3) It is the most amazing place. We met other people on the road close by and even their reaction was " You guys are staying at THAT place? Wow! Its the best house on the road!" If I could give this house 10 out of 5 stars I would. Brian is the owner and he is amazing. Anne , the property manager, is one of the nicest people I have ever spoken with over the phone. The house is immaculate and has everything that you would need for you time away from home. Actually...my husband and I refer to this house as "home" because its our dream house. The villa is located right on the water on a quiet secluded road close to Palmetto Point. The locals are amazing and so welcoming. the beach is beautiful and it is rare to even run into another person while you are there. Please don't pass up the opportunity to stay here...book now!
My husband and I ventured to stay at Villa Sylphide to celebrate his graduation and our anniversary. We knew it was going to be nice since it is our neighbor's vacation house and he has excellent taste but we had no idea of its beauty until we got there. Between the high-end kitchen, beautifully decorated rooms, great wraparound porch, backyard wildlife and private beach, this place is special, it really has it all. We did a couple day trips to some cool beaches but really spent most of our time on our beach. Just lying on the beach was enough but to break it up we did venture into the ocean. We found a great snorkeling spot to the right, about a quarter mile down the beach, it has all of the underwater life one could ask for in a shallow protective cove, we highly recommend this spot. Also, the restaurants were great (although we had fun cooking in), people are wonderful, location is perfect. 2 suggestions, rent a SUV if you plan on doing some exploring and bring your water shoes, they were great to have. Overall 10 out of 10. We can’t wait to go back!
My main criteria for a beach house were a lovely, upscale property on a great beach, close to restaurants, and with coral reefs that we could snorkel right off the beach. Villa Sylphide fulfilled all of of my wish lists. We had a perfect 10 days there and never lacked for anything at the house (including binoculars.) The wi-fi worked great, and we enjoyed the Direct TV as well. The house sits on a bluff about fifteen feet above the beach. Along the shoreline are many limestone outcroppings which make fascinating tide pools in myriad colors. To the right about 100 yards was a break in the rocks which was a great place to go in to snorkel or swim. We were blessed with winds under 15 mph and I was able to snorkel each day we were on our beach. A few hundred more yards to the right, the rocks form a natural pool that a low tide was just magical. I snorkeled in the 2'-3' of water there and saw a barracuda and a spotted eel. From the house it is about a 30 minute walk along the beach to Double Bay, and maybe 25 minutes to walk to the beach at Unique Village, both of which have nice wide sandy entries and shallow areas to swim.
We ventured out to a few places: Ten Bay Beach was lovely and close. Ocean Hole is very entertaining for kids, but it's pretty dark and murky. Sammy's was a fun place to eat though. We found, however, that rather than trying to chase the "perfect" beach and do all that driving, we loved exploring our darn-near-perfect pink sand beach at various times of the day. Driving on the island takes caution as there are folks walking and riding bikes on the road day and night, and sight lines can be short. We enjoyed the ease of breakfast and usually lunch at the villa, and dinner at the Sunset Inn, Tippy's, The Bistro or Unique Village. Can't say enough about how generous and friendly Eleutherans are. When our rental car broke down the second day, Tanya was driving right behind us. She pulled over, called our rental guy (whom she knew- everybody knows everybody) and drove us into town. We attended Easter services at the Methodist church in North Palmetto Point and were treated like long lost relatives! I was seriously under-dressed, though. Those ladies looked great!
Villa Sylphide is truly a perfect choice for a couple looking for an upscale beach house with everything you need on a fantastic beach. We had all the privacy you could want; never more than 6 or 8 people on one mile of beach, and often it was just us.
My husband and I chose villa sylphide for our stay on eleuthera. We are avid travellers and this was THE best place we have ever stayed! The house is so clean and beautifully maintained. We felt immediate comfort when we walked through the doors. The location is secluded and laid back...but we rented a vehicle so we were fine. Also, during our week long stay, we visited many different beaches and always came back to our spot as the beach directly infront of the villa is secluded, private , beautiful and has fantastic snorkelling . Word of caution : use bug spray! I got ravaged by sandflies ( noseeums) on the second day and had bumps all over for the rest of the week...but I digress....that has nothing to do with the actual house. There are truly no words to describe the complete peace, serenity and joy you will feel while staying here. Anne was so helpful when we were having toilet issues and came out to the house right away! Also, the views are stunning! There's a beautiful wetlands wilderness area directly behind he house ,so complete privacy. Also, my family rented a villa down the lane and it was great hosting them at our place a few of the nights...everyone fell in love with the house. This house has everything that you would need as far as kitchen , laundry, DVD library, towels, beach chairs..etc..goes. The wifi was always fast as our family often came over to use our wifi since it was better than their house. Also, thank god the house has a backup generator because we had an 8 hr power outage one night ( which is apparently frequent on the island) and were able to keep cool and not worry about our groceries on one of the hottest and most humid nights. As far as the area of palmetto point goes...it's not much and you won't find any nightlife or restaurants whatsoever...but the area is close enough to governors harbour which has a great fish fry on Friday nights ( watch out for the rum bubbis! ) Renting a vehicle is 100% recommended since the villa is quite secluded and you will want to explore the island. As far as the people of eleuthera go...I have never felt safer and more welcome in my life! My husband and I are even wondering how we can move there! We fell in love with the island and villa sylphide our trip could not have been better. Like I said " Best week of my life" and villa sylphide had a lot to do with that. Don't hesitate...book right now!
My husband and I just returned from a two week stay, needless to say we did NOT want to leave. The villa is perfect, would not change a thing! Loved the kitchen! Plan to stay here again. Thank you for sharing your paradise home.
Do not look any further! This is your spot if you are looking to relax and get away from the stress of your everyday life. We recently celebrated our 20th anniversary here and couldn't have been happier! There are great bikes, a double kayak, perfect beach chairs and beach umbrella, and an incredible kitchen full of every gadget you will need. We watched the sunrise every morning on the deck with our coffee and cooked every night with all the windows open and a gorgeous cross breeze and surround sound of waves and birds. You will not be disappointed!!
