The Owner purchased this apartment in 1986
The apartment is in a ideal location because it borders all of the great neighborhoods of downtown Manhattan. Conveniently located to all the major subway and bus lines which take you to any part of the city. Fantastic views of downtown and the apartment is very sunny. The neighborhood is rich with various local eating and shopping choices. PLEASE CALL OR EMAIL FOR AVAILABILITY, CALENDAR IS NOT KEPT UPDATED.
I enjoy all of the fabulous opportunities that come with living in a great city like New York. I enjoy attending the theater, visiting museums, the restaurants, outdoor markets and the exciting night life.
This apartment is a great option for those who want to spend time in Lower Manhattan or Brooklyn. It is in the heart of the Lower East Side near the Wlliamsburg Bridge, with easy access to East Village, Chinatown, Little italy, Soho, etc etc. Twice we walked across the city to the West Village in under 30 minutes, casual strolling, passing through fascinating areas on the way. Very close to 2 subway lines also.
The apartment, as advertised, is large and clean and well furnished. Two TVs, excellent mattress, a hard-wired computer and 2 different WiFi networks. Clean is a big issue, as places in NYC are not always up to the standards of home, but this place is really clean! Awesome view to the west from the 18th floor - maybe all the way to Jersey?
As noted by others, the immediate surroundings are a bit grim - parking lots and other high-rise buildings, but at no time did we feel even remotely unsafe. It's a very user friendly area.
Ana, the landlady, is extremely helpful and co-operative. There was a little complexity surrounding our arrival time and she worked with us so we got the keys well in advance. One could not ask for a more accommodating owner; she made it all very easy. Even left us with a welcome basket of wine, beer and sundry junk foods.
The only qualification is that the cleaning fee ($100) is a bit high when compared to comparable listings in VRBO.
Overall, strongly recommend to anyone who wants to stay in the area.
No tuvimos ningún problema. Todo perfecto. Lo recomendaría sin ningún tipo de duda.
We spent 5 days in the apartment and were very pleased with what we found. The building is safe and as quiet as an apartment building can be. Other residents were friendly and helpful in pointing out shortcuts, stores etc. Delancy St subway stop is a short walk away. (take the F train to the theatre district etc in about 30 minutes.) The Tenement museum is just a couple of blocks away and is well worth the visit.
If you are not used to city life bring some ear plugs. Street noise is there. Not the fault of the apt, just a fact of life in NYC. Earplugs can make the stay a bit more enjoyable.
All of our dealings with Ana, from reservation to payment to refund of the security deposit were simple and quick. Any concerns we had were handled very quickly. (and these were really just questions..not problems.)
If you drive in save yourself the headache and park in one of the pay lots in the area. We used a private garage 3 blocks away. For $25 a day it was covered, secure parking and no worries about moving for street cleaning. Street parking can be had but it is at a premium.
I would recommend this apt to anyone and would stay there again in a flash.
My husband and I were totally blown away by this amazing apartment. Having been New Yorkers for most of our lives the LES was not by any means what it is today. We were so surprised how the neighborhood has changed. It's the New New Village. The apartment has a gorgeous view of the city and our wonderful hostess, Ana, even left a welcome basket for us. We couldn't have enjoyed ourselves more if we were staying in a 5 star hotel. It was truly a home away from home. Transportation is also closer than we thought to travel anywhere in the city. We loved our stay here and would do it again.
We enjoyed our stay over the Thanksgiving holiday with our 5 and 9 year olds. The apartment was modestly furnished but comfortably and clean. The lobby was under renovation when we were there, but it seemed like it would be nicely updated once it was finished. We also liked the view of Lower Manhattan from the apartment a lot, especially at night. The queen bed in the bedroom was very comfortable, but the mattress on the queen sleeper sofa in the living room was on the thin side which the kids didn't seem to mind. The owner, Ana, responded quickly to my questions and was accommodating, and checkin-checkout was convenient and hassle-free.
I would definitely recommend this place for adults, but probably not for families with young kids. The surrounding area is a bit run down with parking lots and public housing buildings. After 8 or 9 pm, we did not feel completely safe walking around so we took cabs from the subway to the apartment. During the day, on the other hand, it was great to be within walking distance to all the great restaurants and shops in Chinatown, Lower East side and Little Italy as well as easy access to several subway lines to reach all points of Manhattan.
Clean and comfortable apartment in a great area near Little Italy. Owned by kind and caring people who will do everything in their power to make your stay smooth and enjoyable.
Subway station is a short walk through vibrant and interesting China Town, and you're off from there..
Apartment positioned well giving ease of access to all the attractions in all areas - downtown, midtown and uptown.
Easy walk over the East River via either the Williamsburg or Brooklyn Bridges, and there you are, you're in Brooklyn.
Loved our stay and are so greatful to the owners for all their advice and assistance.
The neighborhood is full with a combination of old world traditional and artisan specialty food shops, bakeries and restaurants. There are museums, art galleries, historical cultural institutions and performance art theater. Also, a shopping haven, with well known designers and brands showrooms and boutiques.
