It is a quiet lake with bass, perch and pickerel for enjoyable fishing. There is a public boat launch about one mile from Tribby Cottage. In the immediate area you will find horseback riding stables and a golf course. Tribby cottage is 20 minutes away from both Augusta and Damariscotta. Tribby Cottage is 3 hours from Boston and 1 hour from Portland, Maine. It is a secluded tranquil getaway where you will hear the loons in the evening and enjoy the outdoors during the day. The cottage is located on Clary Lake, 100 feet from the shore and surrounded by fields and woods. Being the last cottage at the end of Maplewood Road, Tribby Cottage is very private. The cottage is nestled into a gentle hill that slopes down to the water’s edge. A large deck, with a picnic table and Adirondack chairs, offers the perfect place to have a family diner or gaze at the lake.
Inside the cottage there is a large but cozy pine paneled living space with a wood stove, seating area with a TV and DVD player, a lounge chair by the picture window, and a dining area. The kitchen offers a gas stove, microwave, toaster oven, coffee pot, large refrigerator, and all the pots, pans and utensils needed to cook a delicious meal. The tiled bathroom has a shower. There are three sleeping areas: the largest provides a double bed dresser and large closet, the second has a single bed and dresser, the third is a sleeping loft above the kitchen which overlooks the lake. The loft has a queen sized futon, and is often the kid’s preference.
For local provisions there is the Superette, a small grocery/gas store which also rents dvds, Sheepscot General, a working farm, general store and cafe which features organic, local food, and roadside farm stands. Damariscotta Lake State Park is 7.5 miles away and has a great fresh water lake and beach. There are picnic tables, bar-b-q grills, a playground, a large playing field, shelter and public bathrooms. Before you enter the park there is an ice cream stand and country store. 100 Acre Woods offers horseback riding and Sheepscot Links offers a 9 hole golf course.
