Stroll down Broadway and visit our many historic shops, museums and art galleries. Take in a show at the Mauch Chunk Opera House. Enjoy a relaxing meal at one of our many unique and historic restaurants. Take a 25-mile-long bike ride (all downhill) or a whitewater rafting expedition or a scenic train ride through our rugged Lehigh River Gorge State Park.
Visit our world-class Penns Peak music entertainment center for a show or visit the historic Eckleys Miners' Village to discover where the Molly Maguires fought the coal mine owners a hundred and fifty years ago. Jim Thorpe, originally named by the Indians as Mauch Chuck, is a 200-year-old historic coal mining town which is credited with supplying the energy to start the American industrial revolution in the early 1800's.
It really is just like in the photos. Access and parking in the back. Beautifully maintained, clean and very comfortable. Beds were more comfortable than home and there were only 4 of us so we had lots of room to spread out. Washing machine was extremely convenient and location in the town is perfect. The owner and manager both provided wonderful customer service. The town closes down really early during the week, so the kitchen was great. And the bike and hike trails are worth the trip. I would go back, and definitely recommend.
Our group of 10 people stayed in PA for a weekend get-a-way and this apartment had plenty of room for all of us. It is in a great location with your local shops, restaurants, etc. The house was well maintained and everything is clean. The photos are the exact depiction of how the apt looks like. Lastly the owners are very quick to respond to your emails (almost always within the hour). I would highly recommend this vacation rental!
Spent a wonderful Thanksgiving here! You could not ask for a better location - right in the heart of the town. The house was beautifully maintained and sparkling clean. Everything worked just as it should. I was amazed by the amount of space. I never actually spoke to the owner, but he was very responsive by email and the visit went off without a hitch.
My nephews and I wanted to spend a quiet weekend away and chose this home. We were very pleasantly surprised to find the space and comfort we encountered. Not only was the location absolutely perfect (we didn't move the car all weekend), we were treated to a clean place with all the comforts of home. I was able to arrange for a later departure on Sunday, so before we left, we went around the corner and had a nice breakfast sitting on Broadway, drinking coffee and people-watching. It doesn't get any better than this. We adore Jim Thorpe and, if you are looking for a place in the heart of it all; someplace where you can walk to virtually everything, this is the place!
The owners were easy to work with and I got my security deposit back in less than a week! Thanks for a lovely weekend in Jim Thorpe!
I stayed here 4th of July weekend 2013. Booking was easy. The house was spotless. The pictures are EXACTLY what the house looks like. The location is perfect, right in the center of town. Plenty of activities within walking distance (kayaking, biking, swimming, etc.) The house was stocked with everything (except food), right down to the hand soap in the bathroom and laundry detergent for the washer.
I would highly recommend this house. I would definitely book it again.
We enjoyed our stay in this comfortable townhome right on Broadway in Jim Thorpe. We were visiting family and not really tourists, but the location is wonderful. It's right in the center of everything. There are some great shops and restaurants a stone's throw away. There are some great trails for hiking and biking, train rides, whitewater rafting and sightseeing in the immediate area. We would stay here again on a return visit.
