Woodstock and the environs offer excellent dining and shopping; incredible hiking and rock climbing and nearby skiing at Hunter, Belleayre and Windham Mountains. There are many cultural events including the Woodstock Film Festival, Arts & Crafts Festivals & much more. It's spectacular views make it a great location for biking,motorcycling, horseback riding, swimming in natural spring-fed pools, appreciating Fall Foliage, or kicking back and enjoying company & a good book! Nearby Kingston, the first capital of the country, is a beautiful historic town dating from the 1600's on the magnificent Hudson river and has many great restaurants and shops.
The nearby Ashokan reservoir park has expansive water views and a beautiful path for running and biking. Fly-fish for trout and bass on the reservoir and Esopus river, where you can also spend the day swimming and kayaking or water tubing.
In summer and fall, browse the outdoor flea market. A colorful Farmer’s Market is open in season.Enjoy a concert at the historic Maverick or live theater at the Woodstock Playhouse as well as The Rambling at Levon Helms. The Woodstock Film Festival, held each Autumn, is a movie lover's must0see! The dates this year are October 10-14.
The quaint Village of Saugerties is a few minutes down the road. Its known for it's easy access to the Hudson River for boating and sailing and is home to H.I.T.S., a major equestrian center. Saugerties hosts many festivals and events such as the Garlic Festival, and the Jazz Festival.
