Peace and quiet surround you, no traffic ~ reminiscent of time gone by. Fully appointed with designer furnishings ~ Everything is ready for your arrival!

We fell in love with Old Homosassa because it feels like Florida ~ Relaxed, beautiful waterfront community with live oaks and Spanish moss. A great variety of birds can be found along with the largest population of manatees. There is plenty to do here; but sitting on the porch visiting with family and friends while shelling scallops or cleaning the redfish you just caught is my favorite pastime. The people here know how to live and enjoy the best of life! Come check it out and start making your memories today!!
Elizabeth Jakubiak purchased this house in 2009
I built this home after acquiring the unique lot. There are very few properties like this with waterfront docks and pristine conservation lands. This allowed a home to be built on stilts with a tree house like effect and great views. The conservation land in concordance with the EPA remains tidal and the way nature intended it to be.
Perfectly located with plenty of activities, restaurants and shopping within a 10 mile radius, this home is private yet accessible. Launch your boat, keep it at the dock, travel by boat to local hot spots for fishing or for socializing! You can have it all here. There are springs located 15 minutes by boat where you can snorkel and swim with the manatees and other critters! The water is cool and crystal clear. During scallop season enjoy gathering the tasty morsels and feasting afterwards. We have crab traps set out near the dock and enjoy the tasty blue crabs by the dozen! Redfish and trout are commonly sought after by inshore fishermen and women alike. Grouper, tarpon and other species may also be found nearby seasonally.
We had the Waterfront house for 12 days. Everything was great, nothing was missing. Even the soap for the dishwasher...
Hubby and I have been to Florida a few times now, always with friends and kids! This time we went on our own and stayed in Davenport area for 9days and then decided to try some where different for 7 nights. We chose Homossasa and this lovely house right by the water. We were very comfortable here and the house was very clean and we'll maintained and had everything we needed .
The area is rural and all the houses nearby were on the waters edge - the people nearby were very friendly and even took us out on their boats where we were so lucky to see dolphins frolicking in the sea!
We did find a small local beach at Pine island a few shops and a local bar or 2 - we also drove up to Gainsville one day to watch drag racing ( hubby's ' thing!!' ) and on the way back we came across a St Patricks parade. We went to local wildlife park very near to the house and saw the manatees and we also tried our hand at canoeing ( bit more practice required on that one ! ) we really enjoyed the house and the area- a much quieter type of Florida holiday and you do need a car -it definitely not a Disney holiday - Try some thing different -check out this home and the area !!
This was our second year taking a family vacation to Homosassa/Crystal River to go scalloping. The first year we stayed in a hotel. This year we stayed on a rental home. What a difference! The house comfortably fit 6 adults. It was clean we loved having the option to spend time on the dock. We felt like the house was tucked in a really neat area and we enjoyed the local area and hot spots. Our charter left out of a dock in Crystal River, only took us about 12 minutes door to door. That was a nice perk.
We hope to stay here again. Thanks for your attention to detail and hospitality.
The description of this home and property were accurate. This home has plenty of room to accomodate the 11 of us! Liz (owner) and Robbie (property manager) were very accomodating. Liz had a couple of air mattresses for our 3 unexpected guests for the one night and Robbie allowed us to park our boat trailer in her office parking lot. The home was very clean and had everything we needed to cook each night and there were even board games that we could play! The only complaints we have are the beds were a little uncomfortable, the a/c took a little time to cool the house off in the heat of the day and the grill didn't have any propane(Robbie told us it was our responsibilty to fill). Those problems did not spoil are trip though! We loved the location. It was close to the boat ramp and Publix wasn't too far down the road. We will definitely be back because of how well we were treated by the owner!
Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your home. This is one of the cleanest vacation rentals our family has ever stayed in. The area is just beautiful and very private. The little town of Old Homosassa is so cute, but there is a major grocery store close enough to be convenient. We had a great time kayaking the Weeki Wachee and some of the springs in the area are the prettiest I have ever seen.
We love this area of the gulf coast. The vacation house was more than we expected. (It seems much larger than the pictures. We had eight adults and grandkids and were not in each other's way.) The dock, the sand under the house, Weeki Wachee, the manatees and the flamingos at the wildlife refuge, the Freezer (great peel and each shrimp) all add up to make this a most memorable family vacation. The guys rented a boat from McRae's and kept it at the dock and the gulf called them most days. What tales they had upon safe arrival back at the house. We girls enjoyed a pedicure for all, grandgirls included, on a rainy day at Hollywood nails and loved the attention and massaging chairs. We made a day trip South to Tarpon Springs and enjoyed the food and atmosphere there immensely. The kids were already planning "next year" before we drove away, but with three new grandbabies on the way, it may not be next year. Liz, the property owner, was very easy to contact and returned all inquiries quickly. Robbie, the property manager, quickly solved an internet connection problem over the phone. We would deffinetly stay here again. The house and area were just what we needed to truly get away.
