Everything about our trip - from the moment we emailed Michael inquiring about the property to our last view off of the balcony as we were preparing to leave to the airport - was absolutely perfect.
This was our first time renting a vacation property, and we were all quite nervous about it. Michael quickly alleviated any renter's jitters we had with his attentiveness and kindness. Dennis, who manages the property locally, was also very welcoming to us. He even offered to let us come over so my 5 year old niece could play with his kittens. The whole time we were there we felt like we were at home, rather than feeling like strangers in a faraway town.
As for the home itself, it's absolutely gorgeous and the photographs don't do it justice. My family and I will have some fond memories of cooking together in the kitchen and sitting down to a nice meal around the dining room table to talk about our day. After living in a small apartment for 8 years, even doing the dishes in the large farmhouse sink was pleasant!
For those new to this area and looking for something interesting to do, I also recommended checking out Captain Dave's Dolphin Safari in Dana Point. It's not a far drive from the house and it's a fun, exciting trip, for all ages. While on the water for a couple of hours we saw about 700 dolphin, 3 sea lions, and a large sunfish.
We opted to cook the majority of our meals at home. I recommend scouring the pantries thoroughly before hitting up the grocery store, as we noticed they had about 50lbs of crushed red pepper flakes from a dozen different sources. I guess tenants love ordering pizza and each one buys red pepper while they're out!
Speaking of ordering pizza, both Z Pizza and Gina's were great. Our family consisted of one young child, a pregnant woman, a meat crazy man and two vegetarians, but both places were crowd pleasers all around. We also enjoyed Dolce Gelato, which is just a few minutes drive from the house. I've eaten gelato at a lot of places but can easily say this was the best I've had anywhere.
All and all my review of the place is 5/5. I would highly recommend it to anyone! We hope to go back again sometime.
