Plum Island House Rental Photos and Description
House, 4 Bedrooms + Sleeping Porch, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8-10)
Lovely Plum Island home, located on 12 K Street, overlooking Plum Island Sound and Merrimack River. Gorgeous sunset views over water, five minute walk to perfect spot for kayaking, swimming, and windsurfing. Adjacent to little known, pristine family beach on Merrimack River, where the waves are gentle and the water is warmer than the ocean beach.
Large deck off main living area with spectacular 180 degree views of the river and salt marsh, perfect for outdoor dining and relaxing. Two outdoor lawn areas for additional outdoor recreation.
House layout: The house is on stilts, so the first floor is up a flight of stairs. There are 4 bedrooms. The master bedroom on the first floor has a queen bed, and its own full bathroom. On the second floor, there are 3 bedrooms. One very large bedroom has two twin beds, another has a queen, and the third has a double. There is also a sleeping porch on the second floor. There is no bed, but you can put an air mattress on the floor. All the bedrooms on the second floor have water views.
Although there is a great little beach a 5 minute walk from the house, you can also walk (or bike or drive) a half mile to the Plum Island ocean beaches. In addition, the seven mile long, undeveloped Parker River National Wildlife Refuge is a mile from the house, and is a haven for bird watchers, cyclists, and families seeking unspoiled beaches for swimming and tide pooling.
The city of Newburyport, full of old world architectural charm, and modern stores and restaurants, is a five minute drive away.

We bought this house because we love Plum Island and we found the sunset views from this house spectacular and unusual for the East Coast. We love that it is next to a tiny unknown beach that is usually empty, and our kids always used to love to run around in the tide pools.
We love biking, kayaking, walking through the tide pools, walking to the ocean beach on the other side of the island, having drinks at the Plum Island Grill.
