Panoramic views of the Sandy River from the great room, dining room and kitchen.

An unforgettable mountain retreat where the views, sounds and smells of the river and trees will reconnect you to your senses….

Sink into the serene and charming Wildwood River Cabin - an ideal mountain getaway less than an hour's drive from Downtown Portland. Just a few feet in front of the Sandy River, the cabin sits nearly secluded on its aged lot amongst towering fir, pine and cedar trees. From the great room you will see and hear the water as it gently winds its way down the mountain.

The knotty pine walls, vaulted ceilings and custom pine woodwork throughout the cabin make it an especially warm and cozy retreat for you and your loved ones. The open great room includes a clear-glass woodstove and a wall of windows offering a panoramic view of the river through the wildwoods. Outside, take a soak in the hot tub under the trees while sinking into the sights, smells and sounds of the mountain.

We warmly welcome you to the Wildwood River Cabin for a treat that will relax and restore you...

* What a beautiful home you have here! We were in awe as we entered the cabin. The entire setting was restful and replenished the spirit. Our family had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Thank you. We hope to be back again.

The Mellin Family

* What a perfect peaceful honeymoon spot after a frantic wedding-planning month! We spent most of the week in the kitchen (and hot tub!) We will miss the sound of the river and the silence of the cell phones! We’ll be back for anniversaries!!

The Brand-New Vogt’s

* This place is so beautiful we did not want to leave. The kids and dog had so much fun playing in the yard with the snow and throwing rocks in the river. Thank you for sharing your home!

The Kind Carson Family

* The view out of the window every morning is so peaceful and serene. The weekend was the calm and restful mini vacation that we were really needing. Thank you, we will be back.

Dave and Terri

* Wonderful, splendid, pleasant, amazing, beautiful, cozy, warm… The sound of the river is soothing to my ears… the kitchen was too inviting, ate way too much good food, hot tub was hot, river was cold…the warmth of the surroundings made us both feel at home. The selection of games in the closet is fantastic.. Yahtzee is my new favorite game, as were the horseshoes.. so much fun!! Got a lot accomplished before 10am.. more than back in the city! Will definitely be back soon…best wishes Adam & Suzy

*Thank you for a lovely place to enjoy this beautiful wilderness. We’ll be back again and again. – Jen & Pete

*Wonderful. Relaxing. Idylic. Rested – couldn’t ask for more. Warm Thanks, Zoe & Lura

About Lili

I'm a small business owner living with my family in Portland Oregon. I practice Acupuncture + Chinese Medicine and absolutely LOVE the outdoors! Pictured here with me is our son Jensen and our malamute puppy Akino. :)

Lili purchased this cabin in 2007

Why Lili chose Brightwood

We chose Mount Hood because of it's proximity to Portland and all of the wonderful outdoor activities available there. In less than an hour we can be up at the cabin enjoying the hot tub by the river!

We chose the property because out of all of the properties on the market at the time, this one by far had the best views of the river and the most privacy/ seclusion. The sounds of the river too were so loud you could even here them throughout the cabin!

What makes this cabin unique

This property is stunning - we fell in love the moment we passed from the driveway side of the property to the river side of the property. Evergreens and poplars cover almost the full acre of land, the views and sounds of the river were so potent and in front of the cabin across the river there is green space - all giving my partner and I the sense that we were a million miles from the Portland although we'd been in the office only a hour or so before getting there!

Words, even pictures, can't fully describe what a peaceful and restorative experience this place offers. This, combined with the fact that it takes less than an hour to get there from downtown Portland, and we were sold!

One of the Best on the Sandy

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I booked this cabin last minute because we REALLY needed to get away for the weekend. Lili the owner was very prompt in getting back to us, and I could tell right away this was going to be an easy, pleasant experience. When we arrived at the cabin there were really only upside surprises. The cabin is right next to the river, so we would open the windows and doors leave the screens closed and listen to the river while getting a nice fire going. There is a big yard with hot tub, picnic table, firepit, bbq, and even a horshoe pit. You have plenty of space and no inkling of neighbors. The one thing we were concerned about was one review talked about the water smelling like sulphur? This seems way out of place because the water smelled, looked, tasted fine to us. If there would be one thing I would change although the place is impeccably kept, I would rather pay a little bit more and get some more basic amenities. There was no pepper and we ran out of matches. These were not big problems because Thriftway is 2 miles away and the value for this cabin is really a steal. We will definately go back again, we are from Portland, and this is definately one of the best places on the Sandy we have been to.

Can't wait to go back!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, infant son, and I fell in love with this place immediately upon arrival. It is cozy, clean, has all the comforts of home but with the quietness of being in the woods. Being able to sit on the couch and not only hear, but watch the Sandy river flow by was my favorite part - and definitely made the early morning wake ups from my son much easier to manage! Prior to our arrival, we were told by Lili (the owner) that there was some concern about Sulfur smell in the water and we brought out own drinking water because of this. However, we did not notice any issue with smell whatsoever and having cold water in the fridge was actually a huge benefit and convenience! Lili was very helpful and made sure we were more than prepared for our trip. We can't wait to return to this little cabin in the woods in the summer when we can explore all the hiking trails Mt Hood has to offer!

Can't wait to go back!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, 10month old son and I were not disappointed when we arrived at this beautiful cabin! It is quiet and secluded but still just a short drive from shops, restaurants, and Government Camp! Having a baby with us, I didn't get to sleep in as much as I would have liked...but being able to wake up and sit on the couch with a warm cup of coffee while listening and watching the Sandy river was amazing, calm and relaxing and made the early morning wake-ups totally worth it. A previous review noted issues with the water, but we didn't have any. We brought our own drinking water which was an easy adjustment to make and to our benefit, just ensured we had chilled water from the fridge whenever we needed it. You can tell the owners take great pride in their home as it is very well kept! We can't wait to visit again!

Nice cabin

  • 5 of 5

My brother, dad and I stayed here over a long weekend. Overall everything was great. The cabin is comfortable, the hot tub is great, too. It's about a 30 minute drive to Mount Hood Meadows ski resort. Also Lili was extremely helpful and easy to work with. The only thing that was unexpected was the cabin had an issue with the tap water having a strong sulfur smell while we were there. Lili did tell us about this before we arrived and we bought bottled water to drink, but had we known this when booking we might have considered other rentals.

Fall... relaxing retreat!

  • 5 of 5

We typically like to get away in the fall before all the hustle and bustle of the holidays hit. This was the perfect setting for some quality down time. The cabin is well appointed, comfy and cozy. It has the illusion of being remote enough, yet within a short drive to civilization. We took a few sight seeing excursions to Oregon City and Mt. Hood, and in between the showers managed to get a couple hikes in in the surrounding are. And then we enjoyed the hot tub to wind down, taking in the sound of the river in the background. The owner was accommodating, pleasant and very easy to work with. This will definately be on our list for repeat visits.

October at the River!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at the cabin. This was our 2nd time staying there and we love the location and the river. The cabin has everything you need, the weather was in upper 70's and sunny everyday. Perfect for walks and sitting on deck enjoying the river. Would definitely recommend to anyone. The guy's would have liked a bigger TV for Sunday night football, but everything else was wonderful! Close to everything!
