Photos and Description of the Swans Island vacation house rental
4 bedrooms, 2 1/2 bathrooms, sleeps 8 in beds, couches & cots available

Quiet, serene living in country home over looking the ocean. Spectacular 180 degree view includes to the North and Northeast: Blue Hills, Bass Harbor and Mount Desert Island; to the East: Placentia and Goff Islands; and to the South: Frenchboro. At night watch the blinking lights from Lighthouses at Bass Harbor and Frenchboro. Day time enjoy the lobster boats and porpoises.

During the day cruise ships and sailing vessels from 30' sloops to ocean going racers with masts 150' tall, pass by on their way to/from Eggemoggin Reach and Bar Harbor areas. Large centrally heated home in excellent condition with 25' x 20' composite deck. 250 feet of gentle sloping back yard to ocean; several pebble beaches amongst the rocky shore for beach cookouts, launching kayaks; acres of mowed fields wonderful for outdoor activities. Large picnic table and plenty of chairs on deck.

'Thank you for renting your lovely Swans house to us again. We had a fine week. One night we turned off all lights and watched a lightning storm over the bay. Another we watched the full moon come up over the bay. And a third day we witnessed a sailboat race across it. My wife had her annual lobster (she claims they are never as good anywhere else) and I ate donuts from the Bake Shop. Source the freshest fish, lobster, scallops, clams from the fish markets on Swans Island at excellent prices. Swans Island is a special place and this is one beautiful property with all the privacy and space (inside and out) you'll need.

Large & beautiful white sand beach a few miles away faces south.

Notes

  • Peak season $2,000/week; other weeks $1,600.
  • July & Aug $2000/wk + 7% Maine sls tax; other wks $1600/ wk; 50% dep; bal 90days ahead.
    $1000 refundable Damage Deposit which covers damage/excessive cleaning costs. Damage Deposit returned w/in 30 days of occupancy end date.
    Damage Deposit returned immediately upon cancellation if you never occupy house.
    Week begins at 4 PM Saturday & ends at 11 AM the next Saturday.
    Cancellation refund of 85% of Rental Deposit if we're able to re-rent.

Notes: Full kitchen with table for 4 off of the entry way (mud room with laundry faciity) opens into the dining room furnished with table for 10: sliding glass doors and view to ocean which access deck. Extensive living room has (2) 6' sofas, love seat (pull out bed), additional chairs, desks, fireplace and large picture window over-looking the yard & ocean providing lots of bright light. A second bedroom, and bath downstairs, as well as quaint entry area. Upstairs are two large bedrooms and bath with shower. Excellent layout offers several areas with substantial room for everyone's' privacy when needed yet allows for large group activities when desired. Garage connects to the house with large breezeway. Internet service is available at house. House is located 2 miles from ferry landing and faces east. There are 5-6 ferry trips to and from Swans, Mon. thru Sun., from April thru October: best to make ferry reservations a month ahead.

Relaxation Heaven

We absolutely loved this place!!!!!! This was our first time visiting Swan's Island and definitely picked the right place to stay. We adored everything about it! If you want a total escape in an idyllic setting and to be left alone in peace and quiet this is the place to stay. From waking up to the beautiful sun rises to cuddling up next to the fireplace. This was the perfect family place. My three year old son loved running around in the large back yard and picking shells on the sea shore on the property. This was a large house and plenty of room for the family. My favorite place to sit in the house was in the living room on the couch in front of the large windows overlooking Bar Harbor. Highly recommended

A whole lot of heaven!

Whether I am there with friends or family (or even all by myself) this home on Swan's Island is a remarkable getaway for rest and relaxation. Everyone gets to pick out their own bedroom and there are plenty of bathrooms to share. The kitchen is well equipped and serving any meal is a pleasure. But the real beauty of this place is when you walk out onto the deck at any time of day or night, sunshine, fog, or rain - it is all magical! But if you must venture forth from the property, the walks, rides, or drives are equally compelling. Everyone waves to you... No really, everyone! I recommend this rental to all ages!

Wonderful place to be!

Swan's Island is a wonderful retreat and this property made it that much more special. Beautiful view of the water from the deck, living room and dining room with sailboats occasionally sailing by. A small beach with the house, or a quick ride to Sandy Beach. Wonderful seafood, fresh lobster (which is a definite part of Maine).. The owners have clearly taken care of this property, with updates to the kitchen and other parts of the house (we were there two summers prior). If you want a special, quiet, peaceful Maine vacation experience, this is a great place to be.

Awesome rental

My family and I have stayed 5 times at this rental. The home is charming, there is no better view anywhere in the world ! Sitting on Ky and Jake's deck reading and gazing at the ocean, watching lobster boats and sailboats was very relaxing. The yard is fabulous for family baseball, volleyball and other sports. I would definitely recommend this rental. We hope to go back next summer.
