Southwest exposure provides sun at the dock from mid-morning until the spectacular sunset. Dive off the dock into the beautiful pond and swim to the float for early morning sunbathing. Other waterfront activities include rope swing, 2 canoes, rowboat, paddle boat, and Puffer sailboat. Watch the kids swimming from the kitchen, living room, master bedroom; or any of the decks. Commune with nature in the outdoor shower.
2+ acre lot provides wooded privacy. Convenient, modern amenities (dishwasher, washer, dryer) make for hassle-free vacation living. The house is nicely decorated and comfortable, so relax and enjoy the fireplace. Walkout basement has ping-pong, air hockey, and Foosball.
This house was by far our best find EVER!
From the very first inquiry, Bruce was always just an email away to answer any and all questions. Being in charge of booking a place each year for 7 people and 3 pets, I always fear that my choice will not meet everyone’s needs.
This house was perfect! As soon as we arrived at this wonderfully peaceful home I instantly relaxed. The house was situated on 2+ private wooded acres. The water was crystal clear. With 2 canoes, a sailboat, a paddle boat, a rowboat, and various water tubes – there was never a shortage of things to do on the water. The rope swing provided us with HOURS of entertainment and we had our own CRAZY Olympic rope swing competitions – SUCH FUN! We canoed all over the pond, even alongside the loons and herons. I got some great photos - I took almost 2000 pictures on this trip! There was such beautiful scenery everywhere! We even had a family of at least 4 pileated woodpeckers that visited us on several different days.
The inside of the house was perfect as well! The owners had thought of everything - the house was fully stocked. The kitchen was fully equipped, and even the water system was amazing - 7 people and we never ran out of hot water! It was magical! The house was quite spacious for our group and the large dining room table was perfect - it allowed us all to comfortably play board games at night. On other nights we had some pretty intense ping pong tournaments!
A few of us got up early each morning and went hiking nearby. Grafton Notch State Park was great – we were able to slide down the waterfalls at various stops! Maggie’s Nature Park – an easy walk from the house - had some nice trails as well. We got home daily just as the rest of the group was waking up and we would all head to the water!
We swam and boated until sunset each day and the sunsets were absolutely spectacular!
We had a campfire almost every night. It was the perfect way to end the day. We roasted marshmallows, made s’mores and looked at the brilliant stars shining above us while we chatted, recapped our day and planned the next one.
There was nothing we wanted for, and nothing that could be improved on. Perfect house, perfect lake, so much to do, and gorgeous scenery! This was such an active yet totally relaxing vacation.
We cannot thank you enough for sharing your wonderful home with us! We will most definitely return to this wonderful piece of paradise very soon!
Our stay at this waterfront home was everything and more than we had hoped for when we booked our reservation. It was relaxing and beautiful, a slice of heaven! We enjoyed all that the house offered inclusive of pedal boat, canoes, rope swing, floating dock along with ping pong tournaments in the basement. The kitchen was fully stocked and not lacking anything! Our daily morning vista from the deck overlooking the large lake, was amazing! And each morning we listened for the loons.
Bruce was very responsive to any inquiries we had and was informative about the area as well. Would highly recommend this waterfront retreat!
I knew this place was going to be amazing. The owner, Bruce, was so proactive in answering our questions about the place and contacting us asap! That is so important because as a first time renter, you never know if the place actually EXISTS!!!! The description of the place was exact. When the family arrived, it was more than what we expected! The picture doesn't do the lake justice nor the house. The sleeping loft was huge! We only had three people sleeping there and absolutely no complaints. It was roomy throughout the house. We had lobster night, pasta night, etc and all the kitchenware was there! The whole family made so many precious memories using the swing rope, we were trying to see who can swing better! It was just AWESOME! The 2 canoes, boat, paddle boat, sailboat, tubes were incredible. There were 11 of us and we all can go on the lake together! The life jacket and fishing poles were a bonus. We will definitely go back and rent from Bruce again, no doubt. If you are looking for a lakehouse, this is worth it! Thank you so much again Bruce and your family for welcoming us to your home and making this a memorable experience! We look forward to renting from you again. Also Dolce, our 5 lb chihuahua had an awesome time! She loved the smell of the outdoors too! Thank you
This was one of the most relaxing vacations we have ever taken as a family. As soon as we arrived, we put our bathing suits on and took full advantage of what this home had to offer. My 8 & 12 year old spent all of their time swimming, canoeing, fishing and the rope swing was the most entertaining of all! my 4yr old Lab was in the water more than she was out. We couldn't of picked a better week weather wise too~high 80's with no rain all week! The house was very clean and comfortable and the owner Bruce was very friendly and accommodating. Felt like family! Views of the pond were breathtaking too. Ventured off for a few hours during the week and went to Bethel and zip lined at Sunday River. In a nutshell, my family made memories that we will talk about for years to come. We would rent this house again in a heartbeat! My 8 year old rated this vacation tied with Disney.... that says it all!!! :)
This is a beautiful home on a lovely pond, though it feels more like a lake, with everything you need to be comfortable, relax and enjoy. We had 5 adults and a child with a few pooches, and everyone enjoyed every minute. Rope swinging, hiking, fishing, swimming, boating, eating, sleeping, reading and vacationing. We were lucky enought to have a Bald Eagle swoop down not 10 feet from us on the water and fly off into a tree. Bethel is a 10 minute drive and has lovely shops, a nice nature walk and a small waterpark. Sunday river is a 20 minute drive where we zip lined and had a blast. We drove to Gray and went to the Maine Wildlife Park and saw some moose and bears. But we mostly enjoyed being at the house which is completely private thoughtfuly appointed and extremely comfortable. We have been using HomeAway for nearly 10 years and this is the first time we plan on returning to a rental. We really enjoyed our stay.
What a great place to bring the family for a vacation away from it all!
We brought three families with dogs and young children and the place fit us all comfortably with room to spare. The loft easily fit my family of five, though the kids insisted on sleeping in the bunkbeds downstairs. The house itself had more than enough room for everyone to relax, whether outside on the deck, down by the water, downstairs in the game room, or swinging in the hammock. And the house itself had everything we could ever need. The kitchen was well-stocked with enough pots and pans that we could get a creative with dinners. There were enough blankets and linens for a small army. In every bookcase and endtable we found books and games and puzzles that occupied the kids and adults alike.
And then there’s the waterfront. The water is nice and deep, so diving right off the dock wasn’t a problem. And the rope swing provided hours of hilarity as people of various athletic abilities soared over the water or flopped in with an epic splash. We also took advantage of three out of the four boats available (we’re not sailors, so we didn’t attempt to figure out the sailboat). We took the boats on trips to the other connected lakes, sunbathing and fishing along the way.
For daytrips, we headed into Bethel and spent time at the quaint shops and cafes there. (I highly recommend anything from DiCocoa’s Café and the pizza and nuclear wings from Home Slice Pizza). We also perused the many bike and hiking trail maps provided at the house and took a nice hike up to the falls a few miles away. We visited nearby Sunday River and took a gondola ride and a few of us even braved the zip line there.
Overall, it was a trip to remember. The house was great. The owner was attentive and thorough. I would definitely recommend this rental to others.
Very quiet spot conveniently located 1 mile off Rt. 26 for easy access to the beautiful Bethel area. Bethel is a quaint Maine village with fine dining, and shops. Big Adventure recreation facility features water slides, climbing walls, mini-golf, and laser tag. Sunday River has zip line tours. One of the world richest semi-precious gem deposits supplies local gem shops and there are mines open for prospecting. Easy access to the White Mountain National Forest and beautiful state parks with hiking trails and spectacular water falls. Numerous canoe trips available on nearby rivers.
