Our cabins are the perfect place for wildlife watching in the Crandall Valley, sightseeing in Yellowstone National Park, and trips to Cody, Wyoming and Red Lodge, Montana on some of America’s most spectacular roads. We have vast herds of elk and bison, big horn sheep, coyotes, deer, mountain goats, grizzly bears, black bears and many birds including ravens and bald eagles. Since the reintroduction of the wolf in 1995, this valley has also provided almost daily sightings of wolves.

For an adventure outside of Yellowstone National Park, a one-hour drive will take you to Red Lodge, Montana over the Beartooth Highway, one of America’s most beautiful roadways. Red Lodge is an old gold mining town, which has grown into a picturesque ski resort with numerous shops and restaurants. Heading to the east on the Chief Joseph Highway 296 and over historic Dead Indian Pass provides a wide vista of the Rocky Mountains. Chief Joseph Highway will take you to Cody, Wyoming, where there is a nightly gunfight and rodeo during the summer season.

These cabins are located on secluded, wooded land, bordering National Forest on two sides. You can end your day with smores while sitting around the fire pit in front of the cabin. For a short outing, you can follow the private trail down river and enjoy the wildlife.

Richard (Zig) & Mallie Zickefoose

Hi, we are a hard working outdoor loving couple and we are living the life we enjoy. Come spend some time with us and experience our no hassle lifestyle.

Mallie Zickefoose purchased this cabin in 2007

We found this area 14 years ago on our first date and decided there was no other place in the world more beautiful than here; we made this area our home. There are so many things to do in our area that we have found out that it has kept us young!!! This is truly the best place to get away from it all!

We enjoy it here because of the great fishing and outdoor recreation. Yellowstone is close by so we can go there any time we like. We also love to take our four wheelers into the backcountry in the summer and in the winter there is fantastic snowmobiling from our doorstep. If you like to hike there is no better place, if you like to view wildlife it gets no better than here. Our families come and stay and it is a great vacation spot that young children will remember for a long time! We also have the beautiful BearTooth Mountains out our back door. Most of our guest tell us they enjoyed their time spent at the cabin more than they did visiting Yellowstone. Once you get here you hate to leave it is so relaxing and beautiful.

We had a great time at Beartooth Lodge. Very nice set up, we stayed in the trapper cabin and were very comfortable. Zig & Mallie are wonderful host's. So much to see and do. If you want to just get away and relax, give Beartooth Lodge a try, you will not be disappointed. We hope to come back out to the Beartooth Lodge again. Thanks Zig & Mallie for sharing your beautiful area!!!

PAT AND BEN

I am on a plane headed home (Hendersonville, TN) wishing I was still at the Fishing Cabin at Beartooth Lodge where we stayed for two weeks. Oh my goodness what a perfectly wonderful vacation it was! I could have easily stayed for four weeks or even more! We arrived late on Sunday after a beautiful drive from Cody. You just cannot imagine the beauty of the mountains. The prettiest drive I have ever been on. I wanted to take a picture every few minutes. On Monday I said to my husband, "Would you like trout for lunch?". Can you believe we had already caught alot of trout (brook, cutthroat and rainbow)! I loved fishing because I caught lots and lots of trout every day. In fact, I caught more than my husband. There are many, many places to fish here, and the national forest next door is too wonderful to believe. Hiking was terrific! So many places to hike! One of my favorites was hiking to the Wedding of the Clark Fork River and Crandall Creek. People get married where these two join. An unbelievably beautiful sight to behold! We went to Yellowstone three days but my best times were definitely at the fishing cabin. I could not believe the cabin. It was great with everything I needed and more. The bed was oh so comfortable plus the sound of the rushing river and the fresh air made me sleep later than I planned as I wanted to get on that river and start fishing early. If you like fresh air, the beauty of the mountains all around you, the sound of the rushing river, a cabin that has big windows to see the river, actually catching trout and having them for dinner, and a place to hike to beautiful places; then, look no further because this is the place. Zig and Mallie are the BEST!!!!! They give you all kinds of help with what to do and how to do it. Wonderful, wonderful people!!!!!!!!!!!! I cannot wait to go back!

THE ZIEMANNS FROM WI

The cabin was perfect for us! Everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We spent 4 days in the park and 2 days at the cabin. Caught fresh trout for dinner right outside the cabin, which was great! The Beartooth Mountains are so beautiful! And the cabin was stocked with everything we needed, cooking pots/pans and utensils, towels/bedding, a tv w/ dvd (we watched Bogey movies every night), a cooler to take in the park for lunches, and so much more! Like I said, everything we needed. And Zig & Mallie were so helpful and we enjoyed our chats with Zig! Thanks for everything, I will try to send you some pics I took.

WE LOVE FISHING CABIN!

  • 5 of 5
We stayed at Fishing Cabin for our first trip to Yellowstone and had the best time ever! Mallie and Zig are wonderful and very helpful. We saw a record 7 bears in 1 DAY in the park. In fact, we never went into the park and DIDN'T see a bear. The cabin is just perfect for families, and the location near the NE entrance to the park was great for all the wildlife we saw...wolves, moose, foxes, bison and of course, bears. We were planning our return trip before we even left...Thanks Mallie for the idea of coming in September! Thanks so much to both Mallie and Zig for your hospitality!

AWESOME VACATION

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I have always wanted to go to this area of the country. What a beautiful area and the cabin was awesome!. It is convienant to Yellowstone, Red Lodge and Cody. Zig and Mallie were wonderful as well. Enjoyed our time around the campfire sharing some bourbon and wine. It was too cold for fishing but the hiking was great. Wildlife in the area is abundant, we even had a moose pay us a visit at the cabin. Even though it was unseasonably cold were able to get a few days of motorcycle riding in, even up the Beartooth and Yellowstone. We definately plan to return to this beautiful place and next time bring the rest of the family along.
