HEART OF FLORENCE ORIGINAL '1400 CENTURY

Historic Center Condo Rental Photos and Description

Condo, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

Florence at its best...

Large 1 bedroom apartment that retains many original details and flavor, is located on a first Italian floor of an aristocratic early XIV century building in via delle Vigna Vecchia, just around the corner from Santa Croce Cathedral.

The antique front door leads to a bright and spacious room furnished with a queen size sofa bed, table and chairs, an open L shaped kitchen with a wooden countertop and an 'original' stone sink and counter that makes it perfect for entertaining. The contrast of bricks, wood and tiles as well as the antique queen size bed and furniture makes the extra large bedroom unique. The apartment reflects the historical influence of the location, but is completely remodeled. The terra cotta floor and wooden beams ceiling accentuate the beauty of it. An en-suite tiled full bathroom with tub, central heating and A/C completes the property.

Delightful Property in the heart of Santa Croce

  • 5 of 5
This condo became my home away from home. Charming, historic, fully furnished with attractive pieces, a very comfortable bed, efficient kitchen, laundry, and beautifully situated in Florence, in addition to being only two blocks from my daughter's apt! I was so fortunate to find this place last minute, when the Villa I had booked on line turned out to be a complete nightmare. I cancelled the villa and stayed with my daughter my first night in Florence, and while scanning VRBO discovered this condo was available during my vacation! There is nothing about this place that wasn't perfect. The owner and manager were excellent communicators, the price affordable, and every amenity was provided. I would recommend it to anyone visiting Florence!

Charming!

  • 5 of 5
I traveled to Florence in early July, and used VRBO.com to find a place that was in the location I wanted to be and hopefully priced better than some of the hotels and I found it! This apartment was great for me and what my trip to Florence was about. The owners met my taxi at the corner of the building and we entered in huge doors that opened to the common gardens area. They carried my heavy luggage up the stairs, through the halls (I would have gotten lost if it wasn't for them showing me where to go) to a very private area of the building. I entered the apartment and fell in love!!! The living, kitchen and dining area were all in one large room, and the bedroom and bath were off the right side of the area. The living area had a couch that functioned as a bed as well and 2 bar height chairs. The TV had cable and internet was available, but I did not use theirs because I had a mifi card. The kitchen has a fridge under the counter, a microwave, coffee pot, 2 burners and a huge stone sink that was beautiful! The washer was also located in the kitchen area. The dining area was a round table for 4. Lots of counter space in the open room and plenty of books/maps of Florence! The bedroom was large with a king size bed that slept great. There was a nice wooden wardrobe for storing clothes and luggage out of site. The bathroom was somewhat small, and the tub, was WAY too small for anyone with any size on them to take a tub bath however for me, the bathroom was ok. The only complaints I have was it was a little dark and a little warm. I understand that most of Italy doesn't used air conditioning and this was something that I got used to (there were fans provided). As for the darkness, I didn't spend much time there so it didn't impact me that much, but if I were going to spending lots of time in the apartment, I would want more light. The apartment was equipped with everything I needed...iron, ironing board, washing detergent, towels, soap, shampoo, coffee, filters, tea, a bottle of wine and a bottle of water. Location was great and the owners provided me with a key that opened the back door to the building which was a private entrance for the apartment. The private entrance has a tight spiral staircase so carrying large or heavy packages could cause a bit of a problem however you can always use the front door.

Great location in Florence

  • 5 of 5
We stayed for three nights the past summer at this apartment in Florence and had a very nice experience. The location is great, three minutes or so from Piazza della Signoria. There is a nice (if expensive) small store for most of what you might need at Piazza San Simone, a minute away, and in front of it there is Il Gelato Vivoli, which is well-known for its ice cream but also produces great coffee.
The apartment isn't large but worked well for two grown-ups and two teenagers. There's cooking facilities, a washing machine and solid wireless Internet. Everything was clean and well-functioning. The hosts were very nice and helpful, and we appreciated the bottle of wine they had left for us.
If you bring a car, expect to have a parking problem. We drove up to the apartment (tricky and possibly illegal, but the GPS found the way) to drop our stuff off, then parked the car in the large, modern underground garage at Piazza Beccaria (entrance from Viale Giovanni Amendola, on the left as you approach Piazza Beccaria from the south). There's a 24h rate that is reasonable, unlike some of the other options. It's a bit of a walk back but it was enjoyable.
We can heartily recommend this apartment and will certainly make it our first option next time we go to Florence.

This condo is located in the heart of Florence. We loved the room and the location. We wanted an experience of being able to walk out our door and purchase produce, meats and wine. There was even a gelateria next door. We had the experience we were looking for. The manager was excellent to work with and the cleaning, new towels and sheets was a nice surprise. Having a clothing washer and a full kitchen made the stay very affordable.

A Step Back in Time

  • 5 of 5
The handoff of the apt went easily, and the owner made a trip back to repay unused money when a part of our group had to leave early because of the train strike. There was obvious pride of ownership when we were shown through the apartment. It had detailed touches of a lovely home. It had so much history; it was like living back in the 1300s, yet we blended into an Italian neighborhood conveniently walking everywhere. Everything worked in the apartment. There was even a Rick Steves 2011 travel guide for us to use.

We had a wonderful time here!

This apartment far exceeded our expectations. The friendly owner and his wife greeted us when we arrived and made us feel very welcome. It was very clean and comfortable and had little touches that made you feel right at home. We felt like we were experiencing the heart of Florence right in the apartment itself.
