Our home is a large (2500+ square foot), sunny two-story Victorian. On the upper floor there is an eat-in kitchen, formal dining room, parlor (with a comfy sofabed), guest bedroom with queen bed, large bath, and living room with fireplace.
On the lower level, in addition to two large bedrooms and two baths, there is a separate family room with a queen-size futon bed. Each sleeping area is private and quiet, with windows and ample storage.
The house has a lovely rear garden where in nice weather you can stroll or enjoy coffee while watching the hummingbirds and butterflies.
The home is centrally located, on a friendly street close to shops, cafes, and major public transportation lines. Golden Gate Park is a pleasant 15-minute walk from the house, and Alamo Square—site of the famous Victorian ‘postcard row’—is a mere 7 minutes’ walk. A short stroll takes you to the Haight-Ashbury district, popular for its unique shops and cafes. Every Sunday an excellent farmers’ market is set up just 3 short blocks away, offering fresh produce, baked goods and gourmet items.
-- The house is our primary residence, which we open to visitors when we are out of town. An authentic Victorian, it is not 'child-proofed' for safety and contains some antique furnishings and decorative objects. For these reasons, it is not a suitable environment for young children.
-- We warmly welcome human beings, but no pets, please!
-- Our home is a strictly non-smoking environment.

Jim and Suzanne have lived in San Francisco since 1983. They are both retired, but are active in many cultural and community projects, including volunteering with the North of Panhandle Neighborhood Association. Jim is a former library information manager and Suzanne worked in the field of communications, primarily for nonprofit organizations. We both enjoy films, theater, restaurants, reading, and taking long walks around our beautiful city.
This vacation rental is our permanent home. We are often out of town--anywhere from a week to more than a month--and make our house available for rent during the periods when we are away. Guests can enjoy all the modern conveniences in an authentic San Francisco Victorian, with ample space to stretch out and 'make themselves at home.'
We have hosted more than 100 visitors. Here are a few of their positive comments:
'It felt a lot like home--but even better!--staying at your place. You made our visit to San Francisco extra special.'
'Thank you for a wonderful stay. You made our visit ever so relaxed.'
'We love your house and your hospitality was off the charts. NOPA is fantastic! We will be back.'
The property is located within a five-minute walk of major public transportation lines that can take you anywhere in the city. The Financial District (downtown) is a mere 20-minute bus ride, and the San Francisco Opera House, Asian Museum and Public Library are even closer. Many major attractions, such as the Japanese Tea Garden, California Academy of Sciences, and DeYoung Museum, are located within easy walking distance.
