______________________________________________

Our home is a large (2500+ square foot), sunny two-story Victorian. On the upper floor there is an eat-in kitchen, formal dining room, parlor (with a comfy sofabed), guest bedroom with queen bed, large bath, and living room with fireplace.

On the lower level, in addition to two large bedrooms and two baths, there is a separate family room with a queen-size futon bed. Each sleeping area is private and quiet, with windows and ample storage.

The house has a lovely rear garden where in nice weather you can stroll or enjoy coffee while watching the hummingbirds and butterflies.

The home is centrally located, on a friendly street close to shops, cafes, and major public transportation lines. Golden Gate Park is a pleasant 15-minute walk from the house, and Alamo Square—site of the famous Victorian ‘postcard row’—is a mere 7 minutes’ walk. A short stroll takes you to the Haight-Ashbury district, popular for its unique shops and cafes. Every Sunday an excellent farmers’ market is set up just 3 short blocks away, offering fresh produce, baked goods and gourmet items.

PLEASE NOTE:

MINIMUM STAY: Four nights

RATES: Our low season (October 15 - April 15) 'base rate' is $175/night, $1000/week for 2 bedrooms (up to 4 guests). These rates increase by approximately $90 for each additional bedroom required, with a 10% surcharge for 'high season,' special events and visitors under 25 years old.

Jim and Suzanne have lived in San Francisco since 1983. They are both retired, but are active in many cultural and community projects, including volunteering with the North of Panhandle Neighborhood Association. Jim is a former library information manager and Suzanne worked in the field of communications, primarily for nonprofit organizations. We both enjoy films, theater, restaurants, reading, and taking long walks around our beautiful city.

The Owner purchased this house in 1989

This vacation rental is our permanent home. We are often out of town--anywhere from a week to more than a month--and make our house available for rent during the periods when we are away. Guests can enjoy all the modern conveniences in an authentic San Francisco Victorian, with ample space to stretch out and 'make themselves at home.'

We have hosted more than 100 visitors. Here are a few of their positive comments:

'It felt a lot like home--but even better!--staying at your place. You made our visit to San Francisco extra special.'

'Thank you for a wonderful stay. You made our visit ever so relaxed.'

'We love your house and your hospitality was off the charts. NOPA is fantastic! We will be back.'

The property is located within a five-minute walk of major public transportation lines that can take you anywhere in the city. The Financial District (downtown) is a mere 20-minute bus ride, and the San Francisco Opera House, Asian Museum and Public Library are even closer. Many major attractions, such as the Japanese Tea Garden, California Academy of Sciences, and DeYoung Museum, are located within easy walking distance.

GREAT LOCATION

  • 5 of 5
Home is located in a great location to all that SanFran. has to offer yet very quite. Good restaurants near by and a grocery just around the corner. The home has all that you could need to cook and room to get your quite space from the kids. Property shows pride of ownership and is very clean, I would definitely rent again when in town.

YOU'LL LEAVE YOUR HEART IN SAN FRANCISCO!

You'll leave your heart in San Francisco!

The home is as lovely as what appears in the listing. Everything was in good, clean order - comfortable bedrooms/baths for each couple. Although the house was large we spent most of our time in the kitchen. It was sunny with a beautiful view to their back yard, full of plants, flowers and trees. They have ample information about the immediate area as well as any sightseeing opportunities. Since driving/parking can be a challenge in SF, we quickly learned public transportation was a short block's walk away & soon we were whisking down/back from the pier. A grocery store is a block and a half away and a wonderful bistro on the corner. One thing that was very noticeable was how nice the folks in San Fran are! Eager to offer advice on finding our way around their city and tips on what to see, etc. We had an amazing 4 nights stay in their home. Highly recommend this home to everyone. (Please note there are stairs so you must be able to ascend/descend to access the first floor.)

HOME FROM HOME

  • 5 of 5
This property was beautifully maintained and very welcoming. It was like stepping into your own home. We met up with our son, who had been at Rutgers university for a year and my Canadian pen friend also joined us. The house was large enough for everyone to have space, although we all spent a lot of time in the kitchen, which was light and airy, where we could cook and chat. (lots to catch up on!) The kitchen had every amenity you needed and more. It was a lovely quiet location but easily accessible to public transport or walking distance to shops and restaurants. A local supermarket carried everything you needed. The owners also left a variety of leaflets and ideas of what to do and how to get around which was very helpful. I would have no hesitation in returning to this property or of recommending it to friends and family. San Fransisco was the highlight of our holiday, and staying in this lovely home made for a relaxing and very enjoyable time.

SAN FRANCISCO GEM

  • 5 of 5
Stayed in this lovely home for one week. The home is spacious with 3-4 living areas. The location was central to everything. Almost the mid-point of the city. The house was very clean and had many amenities. Would highly recommend the neighborhood restaurants and stores. Would stay here again.

PERFECT STAY FOR A FAMILY VISIT!

  • 5 of 5
I recently rented this house for my extended family to stay during the weekend of my wedding in San Francisco. The house was everything we could have asked for -- centrally located, spacious, and very well-equipped. In addition, Jim and Suzanne were extremely easy to work with. They responded quickly to my emails, and they kindly showed my parents around the house when they arrived. My family had a great stay, and I would definitely recommend this house to anyone with a larger party visiting San Francisco!

AMAZING PLACE TO STAY IN SF!

  • 5 of 5
I booked this house for visiting family to stay in during my San Francisco wedding at the end of March. We had lots of family coming from the east coast and Canada, some for 1 week+, and after doing some number crunching, we decided that having some folks stay at a rental house would be the most economical way to go, not to mention way more comfortable given the increased space. However, Jim and Suzanne's house far exceeded our expectations for a vacation rental. All of my family *loved* staying at this house. It is large, with plenty of room for people to spread out; comes with free wi-fi, laundry, and parking; and is located within the hip neighborhood of NoPA and very close to the Panhandle. Jim and Suzanne are lovely and welcoming people, and they have amassed a thick binder of helpful tourist info for their visitors. My fiance and I checked this place out before renting so we had the benefit of renting "sight seen", if you will. Once I saw this place, I literally cancelled my other planned rental tours and negotiated rates with Suzanne. I don't think we could have found a better place for our loved ones to stay at during their SF visit!!!

Owner's Response: Dear Susie,
Thank you so much for your kind, generous review. It was a great pleasure to have your family stay at our place during your wedding festivities. We are delighted that they felt comfortable and welcome here, and that our home contributed, at least in part, to making your celebration a success!
Warm regards,
Jim & Suzanne
