Summer in VT
The price of this rental was too high for the quality of the house and the amenities that you received. The beds were full and there were no blinds or shades on the windows. The basement is very musty smelling. There is a TV there, but you only have DVD or VCR options. We had cold water for two days and the tub/shower did not drain. The owner was responsive, but they came into the house at 9:45pm on a Sunday night while my family was sleeping.
If it were not for family living nearby, I would have packed up and left early.
Owner's Response: We are the caretakers of this home and have rented it for the past 3 to 4 years and never had a complaint. This home is in the woods, so there is no need for blinds or shades. I also live in the woods and have no blinds and shades, as many other people do that live in Vermont. The price is cheaper than having family and friends stay in a hotel. My husband took care of the draining situation, within 15 minutes after the call. Regarding the hot water, the boiler went down and we called the service company as soon as we heard the hot water was out. The service company came in on an emergency call at 9:45 PM, so they were not without hot water. We try to accommodate our guest the best we can, we even waived the cleaning and trash fee.
