Best rental yet!

  • 5 of 5
We have rented a few of the cabins in Good Hart. This by far was the best one. It was very much like the pictures and even better. It was quiet and peaceful when we were there in Nov. Everything was well kept. There was plenty of firewood. Our dog Phil loved the deck. The views from every window were spectacular especially the sunsets. We will be returning again this year and hope to make it an annual event.

Pure Michigan Beauty

  • 5 of 5
Words and pictures cannot describe the beauty of this place and the area. Staying in a cozy cabin, on a private beach, off the Tunnel of Trees road is simply magical. This place is better than anything I've seen in a Pure Michigan commercial. I hope I'm lucky enough to have the opportunity to come back to this spot.

Best Kept Secret in Northern Michigan

  • 5 of 5
Wonderful location off scenic M119, the must-see Tunnel Of Trees Hwy. Gorgeous sunsets over Lake Michigan from the deck. Cabin has all the amenities for a terrific vacation including fireplace and outdoor grill. 1st class restaurants such as the Pier and Fish in Harbor Springs and the Legs Inn in Cross Village. Great deli in the historic Good Hart General Store and all your grocery needs can be met at the local Harbor Springs IGA. Historic lighthouses, fort , scenic beaches and the fabulous Mackinaw Bridge await you just 30 milles from the "lodge". Treat yourself to this Emmet County treasure only a days drive from Illinois and Indiana. Oh, stop and take a stroll in Bayfront Park in Petoskey if you have time. And Harbor Springs is a delightful picturesque town to enjoy Little Traverse Bay. JAG, Watseka, IL

Sandy Beach!

  • 5 of 5
This is a sweet cabin rental with many hidden gems in the cabin and in the area. The beach is sandy, not rocky which makes the lake that much more enjoyable. The new outdoor shower is a real treat. Looking out over the shower wall you can see the lake and on a sunny day it's as if you are in the Caribbean. The sunsets from the porch are incredible.
Don't miss the Goodheart Store potpies and fruit pies....amazing.
The Douglas Steakhouse is worth the effort for the food and the view.
The biking is picturesque thru the tunnel of trees on down to Harbor Springs. The owner was available and attentive if needed.
We will return for sure.

Reaching that inner peace at the Lodge

  • 5 of 5
What a fantastic rental. The drive thru the Tunnel of Trees reminded me a bit of Tenn.. There was the sweet scent of lilacs thru much of the drive just drawing one further in. After arriving at the Lodge and opening the door I felt the charm of "home". The view thru the front window to Lake Michigan drew me in immediately. Leaving everything in the van I found myself saying the heck with all that for now and found myself walking the beach instead. A sucker for a porch swing, I was delighted to see one on the deck. The outdoor shower was a pleasant surprise. The kitchen had anything you could possible need and a working coffee maker! Majority of the rentals I've stayed at needed to send theirs into retirement. Any more, I just bring my own. I HAVE to have my morning coffee! There's the deck in the woods I enjoyed when wanting to get into the middle of the trees and listen to the birds songs.
I visited the General Store, tried the pot pies, the fresh bread and a few other items. Good, good and all good. I wound up eating a slab of bread and butter, sweet gherkins and drinking Smithwicks for several meals. YUM! With the fresh air, watching the waves and all surrounding, and sitting on the deck swing, I was in nirvana.
There's Harbor Springs nearby, where I visited the Book store. They're stocked with some great reading material.....then of course Tom's Moms' cookies.
Nothing, but nothing, though, beat the incredible sunsets. Watching it set on the horizon of Lake Michigan, and at the same time the moon sitting high, it really brought to mind how delicate the balance really is. I came looking for a relaxing week. It went well beyond that, finding myself livinger in an inner peace for that time. There were the fox, deer and even a large turtle that visited the shoreline and roamed the woods, bringing a delight to a suburbian where cats and dogs are the norm.
There's plenty of action if looking for it, but for myself, the sound of the waves and all that surrounded me at the Lodge was what I needed.
I hope that I'll be blessed with future visits........
