An Award-winning guest cottage featured in Down East Magazine’s issue of 'Maine Dream Houses.' Located on 20-acres of our homesite on a hillside at Sunset Hill development. The spectacular pine-clad setting overlooks the Androscoggin River Valley, featuring partial views of Mt. Washington and the Presidential Range in New Hampshire. According to local lore, visitors and residents in the 1800's drove carriages to this site to enjoy picnic dinners and watch the incredible sunsets. Quiet and secluded, yet 1-mile from the quaint Town of Bethel and a short drive to Sunday River Ski Resort or Mr. Abram. Charming cottage perfect for a weekend get-away, a week-long retreat, or a whole season.
Pet Friendly: Well behaved and house-trainedpets are typically welcomed. There is plenty of open areas for dogs to roam off-leash. Owners maybe sometimes available for pet-sitting while you're out enjoying. No pet deposit is required, however a one-time $10 cleaning fee applies for guests with pets for the length of the stay (this is not a per night charge). Also, guest must agree to sign a pet addendum to rental agreement covering any damages associated with pet's stay.

Payment Terms: Full payment is required for to secure reservation unless other arrangements are made. Cancellations within a reasonable time-frame can be worked out without a charge. Credit cards accepted
We chose this property because of its unique setting on a hillside bluff and surrounded by pine trees. Yet we are very close to town which made it very convenient. Bethel is unique to us not only because of what it has to offers, but because of its people and quality of life. It's a very well-kept secret!
A great little place to get away. Just off the beaten path but close enough to everything. Great hosts on the property, close enough to tend to things but always respecting your privacy. I really enjoyed the time to do some research of my ancestors and recharge my batteries! Would stay here again! Thanks Richard!

Owner's Response: Thanks for your wonderful review. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay and please come back!
My girlfriend and I wanted to get up to Sunday River for some early season skiing. We looked at many places and thought the cottage looked like a unique place to stay for the weekend. Everything about the cottage exceeded out expectations. It felt like we were staying in a private tree house in the mountains. Everything you could ever need to give you the comforts of home was there, right down to a comfy heated blanket we discovered in the closet. We always jump at the chance to bring our dog "Winston" on vacation with us and the owners made no exceptions allowing us to bring him along. We cant say enough about this place and its wonderfully cheerful owners. Beats a hotel any day if you want a romantic private getaway for two. four people would be manageable but tight if you were going to spend all day in the cottage. The location was the perfect and the drive was shorter than expected to the slopes.
Hope to stay again in the future..

We were looking for a quiet and cozy place to stay and enjoy the outdoors of Maine. It was just about everything we were looking for. The cabin sits high on a hill with partial views of the local mountains, nestled in tall pines. It's the only rental on the property adjacent to the owner's own residence. The owner's greeted us with a warm welcome and offered any assistance, however already being familar with the area, we did fine on our own. Even though we hoped for a wood stove, the cabin now offers a gas fireplace with a glass front. The queen size bed was very comfortable and has two twins in the loft. The kitchen was equiped with all the needs of light cooking and a small refrigerator. The bathroom was a stand up stall with plenty of hot water. The cathedral ceilings and walls of glass make a small space feel inviting. The cabins home decor was very tasteful especially if you like the interior tougue and groove pine and lodge/moose like decorations. The ride into town is only 5 minutes away with quaint cafes and shops. We did the 67 mile drive that loops through the mountains giving us a great color foliage show with stops to enjoy the local State Forest scenic turn-outs like waterfalls. Our host welcomed our cocker spaniel and even offered to "dog sit" if needed, however she came with us everywhere. For those who are looking for Sunday River adventures, the ski resort was just minutes away. We highly recommend this cottage for a quiet little get away. The price was right and we would do it again! (one downfall: since the cabin is up on a hill, you can faintly hear the traffic below....really not that bad, it's not like a major highway, it's only a little rural road, however when the train went through town, that noise did travel upward as well as did a little rubbling, but ever so brief and did not detract from all the other creature comforts! I really didn't even want to mention that but I noticed no one else did and I would have wanted that little piece of information. But please do not prevent you from renting this wonderful little place!)

Owner's Response: Thanks Diane! I'm glad you enjoyed your stay and loved the cottage. Some times I wish I could live there myself! Sorry about the traffic, but it's heavier during the summer, not typically an issue during the less busy months. Please come back soon!
Great location and beautiful views. The cottage seems much larger than it is because of all the windows. Very nicely decorated with all the amenities; coffee included. The wood stove completes the "cabin in the woods" experience. Two minutes to downtown Bethel and ten minutes to Sunday River or Mt. Abram. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Families with Teenagers,
Just got back from 5 nights in this adorable cottage. My husband and I really liked this place. I especially loved the views out the wall of windows in the living room not to mention the view from laying in bed...it was so peacefull and relaxing I wish I could live there! The deck is great as are the rocking chairs on it. In the morning your are awoken by the sun coming up over the mountians out your bedroom window then you look out the living room windows to the mountains as the sun casts a pink light on them....SOOOO relaxing! Richard & Mark were great hosts! a pleasure to meet! we felt like we had plenty of privacy.... We cant wait to go back!
Wonderful, whimsical, wooden "yurt-with-loft" style of cottage. If you are into a "cozy" experience with a surprisingly large, comfortable master bedroom, this is the place! Beautiful views from deck and large picture windows. Centrally located within a few minutes from downtown Bethel. Quiet and private. Ditch the electric scent machine (we unplugged it and put it outside...) and be ready for a unique experience in a beautiful, albeit small, habitat... er, make that "hobbit-tat"!
