SUNNY & CHEERFUL SKI-IN/SKI-OUT LUXURY CONDO OVERLOOKING THE BLUE RIVER

Breckenridge Peak 9 Condo Rental Photos and Description

3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2.5 Baths (Sleeps 8)

What enchanted us about this condo was its peaceful wooded setting by the Blue River. It is a second-floor corner unit, quiet and private, close enough to the ground to hear the river and high enough to have a spectacular view of the snow on the pine trees.

In the winter, sit in front of the fireplace and watch the snow falling on the pines outside your window after a day of breath-taking skiing. In the summer, sip a glass of wine on the balcony off the living room as you listen to the rushing sounds of the Blue River nearby and relax after a day of playing in beautiful Colorado. Or just curl up with a book or a movie in the bright and sunny living room.

This cheerful and spacious 1,600 sq. ft. unit has 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths and is just 100 yards from the Quicksilver chairlift at Peak Nine base, a five-minute walk from Main Street and the heart of Breckenridge, and is surrounded by miles of skiing, hiking and biking trails.

Why the Owner Chose Powderhorn: We picked Breckenridge and this particular property for a number of reasons. We live in Boulder, Colorado, so Breckenridge is conveniently located--we can be there in less than two hours. We were there in the summer of 1996 and stayed at a place near the Blue River. It was a typical Colorado day--the sun was shining, the sky was blue, it was hot but without the humidity that plagues so many other states--and we thought: Wouldn't it be nice to have a place here. The rest is history!

Our condo at Powderhorn is right next to the Blue River, so in the summer we can leave the doors of our deck off the master bedroom open and go to sleep to the sound of the river gurgling beneath us.

Why the Owner Chose Powderhorn (continued): Powderhorn is also adjacent to the Peak 9 Quicksilver lift, so an easy ski-in ski-out for DeWitt. Sandra, who does not ski, likes the fact that in less than 5 minutes on foot she can be in town. Of the various ski towns within two hours of Denver, Breckenridge is by far the largest and the one with the richest history. So after a hard day of skiing or biking we can enjoy some truly outstanding restaurants.

The Unique Benefits at this Condominium: In the winter, skiing, of course, is the primary activity. In the summer we enjoy biking and hiking. There are miles of trails in all directions. The ambitious biker can even bike to Vail!

And the condo is large enough that it feels like a real home. It is 1600 sq. ft. with a huge living/dining area, a deck that can comfortably seat 4, and a large kitchen for those who love to cook. City Market, which is affiliated with Kroger and King Soopers, is close by and a great resource for good groceries. And there are some great restaurants that we would be happy to recommend. Oh, and don't forget to ask us about the best bran muffin . . . !

Guestbook comments from the owner
Hi Sandra

We had a great time and would like to thank you for the use of your condo. I can’t say that we are big night life people and we didn’t go out much (we did go to Mi Casa and Crepes a la Carte). There was always a long line at the crepe place but it moved quickly. Since we were at Breckenridge after Christmas we were one of the first people to inaugurate Peak 6. We also went snowmobiling in a snowstorm under whiteout conditions to Chicago Peak (we were on the peak but couldn’t see more than 10 feet). We also went dog sledding --- now everyone wants to adopt a Huskie.

We had a great time and we would all like to do it again.

We are retired and love to travel. When we travel we almost always stay at Bed and Breakfasts because we enjoy the personal touches that each place offers to the cold anonymity of most hotel rooms. That is why we have decorated our condo in warm and vibrant Mediterranean colours and have hung family and travel photos on our walls.

Sandra purchased this condo in 1996

Great condo, close to everything..

  • 5 of 5
The property was wonderful. First the location is wonderful. Just five minutes walking and your at the slopes or all the shops and restaurants. Next there is a pool nearby shared by all the condominiums which was a big hit with the kids. And the condo itself was very spacious, especially the master bedroom. Would love to go back again.

Perfect place to stay!

  • 5 of 5
This was our third stay in this beautiful condo. In many ways, that says it all! The condo is quite large and has a wonderful sense of privacy. It easily accommodates 6-8 people. This time we shared with another couple. The men went skiing and the ladies explored the town. All had a perfect getaway without ever getting in a car. Thank you for sharing your home.

We really enjoyed our stay in this unit!

  • 5 of 5
We really enjoyed our stay in this unit. It's our second at Powderhorn, and this 3-bedroom was everything the listing and pictures suggest it is. It is comfortable, roomy and well stocked with everything you could possibly need including sleds for Carter Park (a must-do)! The fireplace was warm and relaxing and the beds were nice and comfortable. The heated garage is such a treat. No unloading/reloading from a cold/wet parking lot. The location is one of the best in Breck. Just yards from multiple ski rental outfits and an easy walk to the best shops and restaurants in Breckenridge. We ate at both the Breckenridge Brewery ( a must-do) as well as a new Mexican restaurant called Mi Casa, across the street from the Village. Great food, but an hour wait for a table. Worth it though. We will stay here again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a great experience at Breck. The owner (Sandra) made our transaction simple and ensured we were well-prepared for our trip. Check-in/out through Pinnacle was simple and quick - greatly appreciated for those who simply want to get into their unit and begin their vacation quickly.

Owner's Response: Thanks, Jim! Yes, everyone who stays at Powderhorn loves it, and our condo is particularly quiet and peaceful since it's a corner unit. I agree that Mi Casa is worth the wait. I would just add that it's not new, it's been around for as long as I can remember. Hope to see you again soon!

Wonderful, cozy place to stay!

  • 5 of 5
We were so pleased with our stay at this great condo! It is comfortable, roomy and well stocked with everything you could possibly need include humidifiers, sleds, kids games & more! The fireplace was so relaxing and the beds were nice and comfortable. We were so pleased with how many linens there were (towels/sheets). We've stayed in a number of places where there are never enough towels, etc. so that was a welcome change of pace! Also, I'm sure this is probably somewhat common in Breck but a definite plus that I have to mention is the heated garage! During our stay there was a LOT of snowfall and I cannot imagine having to clean off our car every time we needed to go somewhere! We would definitely stay here again and feel comfortable recommending it to anyone!
Some things we enjoyed: Dogsledding in Leadville! What a wonderful experience. Fun for the whole family, especially the kids. Tubing in Frisco was a nice change of pace from skiing (we were there for two weeks). Go during the week when it isn't crowded. They also have great bunny slopes there if you want a place to go for a brand new skier. The one drawback from Peak 9 is the lack of bunny slope access for new skiers. Our 5yo daughter took two days of lessons but when we wanted to ski with her on some bunny slopes, it was almost impossible to do so, unfortunately.
Some restaurants we enjoyed: Twist, Relish, Hearthstone & Mi Casa. Twist had some fantastic, contemporary American dishes. Mi Casa had wonderful authentic Mexican (not Tex Mex). We also really enjoyed the live music, wine and cheese plate at Ridge Street Wine/Breck Wine & Cheese. Fuzziwigs is a fun place to take the kids (candy shop).
I would not recommend Kenosha. Food, service and ambiance leave much to be desired.
A few little things to keep in mind: Breckenridge has a city-wide policy to charge for bags at stores/grocery (.10/bag). We didn't know this but if we had, would have brought our own bags to our first visit to the store. This isn't something you think to bring on vacation! If you are renting equipment, keep in mind that the two rental places next to the Maggie will store it for you each day (and store your walking/snow boots while you ski) which makes things so much easier, especially with kids.
We had a wonderful time in Breck and cannot say enough nice things about the condo. I have no reservations recommending it!

Owner's Response: Sherry,
Thank you for such an in-depth, detailed and positive review! We didn't know about Ridge Street wine-will definitely have to try it next time we are in Breck. Boulder also has the .10 grocery bag charge, so we are used to it, but I'm glad you brought it up for other guests who might be caught unawares. I am so pleased that you had such a good time at the condo and, again, thank you for taking the time to write such a long review.

Great Condo and Location

  • 5 of 5
We had a wonderful stay at this Condo. It was clean, large and well equipped. The owner was very helpful and responsive. We had 6 people in our party and we had plenty of room. The lifts were a short easy work as was the main street and shops. I have stayed in a number of places through HomeAway and this was the best so far.

Wonderful family vacation. AMAZING location.

  • 5 of 5
When my brother found this and a neighboring condo for our family reunion/Christmas, I had no idea how fantastic the location would be. Having never been to Breckenridge, the address meant nothing to me. When we arrived and I saw that our condo overlooked nothing but snowy hills, beautiful trees and a ski lift, I was shocked. The condo was comfortable and well appointed. It even had all we needed in the kitchen, like a hand mixer and slow-cooker. Sheets, towels and blankets were brand new from the mgmt company and the condo was nice and clean. We only used the TVs for a couple Christmas movies for the kids but there are nice large TVs as well. The condo is spacious with a nice layout. There was room for a Christmas tree too (we used Summit Home Services for the tree). I can't stress enough though that the view was just perfection. I can't imagine there is a better location. Even the little ones and their great grandmother were able to walk to the ice rink, restaurants, shops, ski shop and lift and the ice castle. We found small hills and trails for the kids to play on right behind the building. When we woke up on Christmas morning it looked like we were inside a snow globe. Fantastic! Check-in and check-out were simple. Don't hesitate to stay here!

Owner's Response: Sounds like everyone had a great time. Yayyy!!!!

I'm also glad that you mentioned Summiy Home Services. I met the owner, Amy (970-485-2150), last month, and she was delightful. Aside from Christmas trees, she provides other useful services, like grocery and courier delivery, and kid-related rentals like high-chairs and pack and plays.

Thanks again for the stellar review!

Car: not necessary

POWDERHORN ON THE BLUE RIVER: Powderhorn sits just above the Blue River where it flows into Maggie Pond. It is perfectly situated for easy access to Peak 9, the heart of the Breckenridge ski area, the ski school, skier necessities and services, a web of picturesque foot paths along the river, and the town's Main Street shops and restaurants. In the winter, Peak 9 not only features many acres of terrain for Beginner, Intermediate and Expert skiers, but also offers quick and easy access to both Peak 8 and Peak 10. Peak 9 is the core of the ski area; the location could truly not be better.

The trailhead for the Forest Service Burro trail is also nearby, providing opportunities for snow shoeing, hiking and mountain biking, depending on the season.

Other Activities: shopping, kayaking, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, snowboarding, spa, racquetball, basketball, sleigh rides, ice skating
