Verna and I truly enjoy time with our guest. Verna has been in the lodging business for 34 years in Cody and I am a retired cattle rancher from Montrose, Co.
Phone Inquiry (John) Email Inquiry (Patricia) purchased this house in 2004
We chose Wyoming because of the vast outdoors. Fishing, hunting, skiing, hiking, horseback riding, motorcycle riding through Yellowstone Park, etc.
The Shoshone River is 1/4 mile away for fishing. Yellowstone Park is 25 minutes. It is a short trip to Cody for dining or a movie. Sleeping Giant Ski Resort is 20 minutes away. The mountains are right out the window 24/7. Wildlife is close and spectacular. It's like living in a post card.
Thank you so much for opening your Lodge to us. You have made ourvisit to this area a very memorable experience and we will always remember the breath taking scenery and abundant stars seen from your vantage point.
Your hospitality made us feel as if we were home.
What a homey wonderful place to stay! John and Verna were so sweet and accommodating! Great location, right between Cody and Yellowstone! John was very informative, yet gave us our space and privacy for the very short time we were there. Finding it was a different story, don't listen to Siri, call John and Verna for directions, you will get lost if you listen to the navigation on your phone. We hope to return next year!
Wonderful setting, lovely home, convenient to so much in the area. Communication with owner was the best, answered all our questions. Really enjoyed this place. can't go wrong with John Hamilton.
When we arrived, John and Verna were waiting and greeted us with big smiles and warm handshakes. Staying in their lovely home was the perfect retreat after each long day of exploring the Yellowstone area. We took John's sight-seeing advice and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We wish we had more time to visit, but we have warm memories of our stay at the Hamilton Lodge.
This was a perfect place for our family to stay while we visited Cody and Yellowstone Park. We felt very welcome and our hosts were so helpful in letting us know where to go and what to see. The lodge was our home away from home. I would highly recommend this lodge if you are thinking about a trip to Cody Wyoming and the surrounding area.
The hosts were great. Good people and friendly. The location was beautiful. The cabin was first rate. These thing deserve a 5-star rating. Unfortunatly for us, there was construction going on the whole time. Many mornings we were woke up early from hammering, sawing, gardners mowing, electricity going out, and the dog barking. The upstairs of the cabin, the main area, was completely under construction. When we arrived at about 4pm the first night, the floors were being finished and we couldnt walk on them. My parents bathroom always had ice cold shower water so my parents had to shower in our bathroom. We were kinda bumbed out that we couldnt sit in the main cabin and enjoy the views. We were down in the studio and there is no view. It is downstairs and under the main cabin. There was also a heat wave in the area. The studio stayed around 80 degrees untill midnight. No A/C and only one tiny fan. Too hot to sleep and then woke up around 7am each day to construction noise, then a cold shower for my parnets. Workers had to come inside our studio to turn on and off electrical switches. For a vacation, it was odd and uncompfortable to have random workers in and out of the property with the noise and mess of construction. If we would have known that there was construction going on and it would be unlikely to sleep in, we would have chose another place. We had no idea untill we arrived. The area is postcard pretty and the hosts were first rate people. The noise and construction and cold showers were no fun. Hammering all day long was not our idea of peace and quiet.
We stayed at the Hamilton Lodge Oct. 1-3, 2011 and wish we had booked more time! John, his new bride Verna and Chico were wonderful hosts! We felt right at home with the roomy, comfortable accomodations. It was wonderful to have a comfortable bed to sleep in after an exciting day adventuring. John picked the perfect place to live on the ridge overlooking the valley! The views were spectacular and they extended their porch swing (made by John) for us to enjoy! There was a covered patio with stocked wood stove, recliner, bar, table and chairs and even a microwave so you could warm up your coffee without walking back to the house! John thought of everything! I would stay there again and again! I hope John is doing well after his eye surgery and that Verna's hand is doing well too. We have already recommended their place to others and wnt to come again. This is a perfect location for Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Beartooth Pass, Cody and more! Remember the views from his home too! Who could ask for more except to have more time! Thanks! It was perfect!
