It's Martha's Vineyard, and the Edgartown area, so you have easy access to bay and ocean beaches, the classic town of Edgartown, the Victorian town of Oak Bluffs, and an easy drive over the rest of the island. Towns feature special events, farmer's markets, artist studios, boating charters, etc. The Island has great dedicated bike paths that are excellent for children. The beaches are some of the best in the world with big waves at South Beach and more gental waves for little people at State Beach. The water is warmer than Cape Cod and Long Island as the island is closer to the Gulf Stream.
There are many activites for children at Felix Neck, which is a large nature preserve very close to our house. Also the FARM Institute at Katama Farms in Edgartown is another great stop for the little ones. An educational farm that teaches children and adults about sustainable agriculture, the FARM regularly hosts morning chores, and has summer camp programs for all ages.
