Overview

Portsmouth House Rental Photos and Description

3 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, sleeps 8

This meticulously kept Newport County waterfront , air-conditioned home sits thirty feet from the water's edge. Enjoy panoramic waterfront views that impart a cruise-like atmosphere, sunrise to sunset, from the spacious deck, main living areas, and bedrooms. The garage is equipped as a game room with a six ft. pool table and a six ft. air hockey table. Stairs to the water allow easy access and there is no dangerous surf or steep drop off. There is a small ramp to launch kayaks and plenty of interesting shoreline to explore. Water shoes are recommended. There is plenty of outdoor furniture on which to relax, in sun or shade, or on which to dine after cooking on the gas grill or sending out to nearby restaurants, known for their great food. All are within .6 mi. , including a sports bar/pub and live entertainment. There is a nice yard and off-street parking. If you are tempted to leave the peace and privacy of this very special home, Routes 24, 138, and 114 are minutes away.

(PLEASE check calendar before inquiring!)

Walking distance and short drive: Within .6 mi. , there are good restaurants serving diverse food (Graziano's, El Parque, Scampi's, 15 Point Road, and the famous Flo's Clam Shack), a liquor store (Moriarity's), a fresh seafood store and boat ramp (Stone Bridge), a marina (Pirate Cove), two town beach areas with no charge for parking, a popular fishing spot, and a sports bar/pub with live music (The Beach House). Within a short drive there are basketball and tennis courts and a running track (Portsmouth High School); a golf course (Montaup), play grounds (Island Park and Bristol Ferry Road), a family beach (Sandy Point); live concerts (Common Fence Point Community Center); convenience and drug stores; pizza, deli sandwich, hamburger, and Chinese restaurants; antique and consignment shops; gas stations; a public library and Art Guild; banks and a post office; a walk-in medical care center; churches of various denominations; and the 'famous' Clement's grocery store that everyone raves about.

Reasonable drive: Within a reasonable drive, there is/are SURF BEACHES: Easton's (Newport), 2nd and 3rd (Middletown); GOLFING: Green Valley (Portsmouth) and Newport National Golf Club; POLO: Glenn Farm (Portsmouth); TENNIS: Portsmouth High and visit the Tennis Hall of Fame (Newport); MANSIONS/WATERFRONT ACTIVITIES: Bellevue Avenue, Comedy Series, yachting/fishing, Cliff Walk, the '12 mile Drive', and more (Newport); WINERIES: Greenvale (Newport) and Sakonnet Vineyards (Little Compton); FOR ALL AGES:Battleship Cove (Fall River); Colt State Park and Bike Path, Audubon Society, Coggeshall Farm Museum, Blitheworld Gardens and Arboretum and the oldest 4th of July Parade in the Nation ( Bristol); Green Animals Topiary Gardens (Portsmouth); Children's Museum (Providence); The Old Colony and Newport Railway and the Save the Bay Aquarium (Newport); PARKS/ZOOS: Buttonwood Park (New Bedford,MA ) and Roger Williams Park and Zoo (Providence); OUTLET SHOPPING: Fall River and Dartmouth; and THEATERS/COMEDY: Warren, Newport, Providence, and Fall River.

There are very few places in RI that will take you more than 50 min. The best start is to search visitrhodeisland.com. There are wildlife refuges, topiary gardens, nature walks, bike paths (Colt State Park is great!), and bird watching; beaches for walking, shell picking, wind surfing and surf boarding; boats to rent or charter for deep sea fishing; cruises to see lighthouses and seals; museums of all sorts; and plenty of history. Explore Providence with its fine restaurants, nightlife, and special events. Take a ferry to Block Island. And don't forget Massachusetts! Take a ferry to Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket. Drive to Boston with its Art and Science Museums, the Kennedy Library, and endless array of historic sites. Travel to Cape Cod for a day...so doable..particularly during the week.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"Dear Maureen +Brad, Henry and I have stayed in several rental vacation homes before and yours is up there with the best. Our adult children's family had the space + the privacy they needed. Your location is second to none! The serenity is perfect. Thank you for your tolerance of our wiffle ball games. We all appreciated the amount of soaps, toilet paper, shampoos, + bedding + towels. The home was sparkling when we moved in. The dishwasher is large and excellent as are all the appliances. Thank you for your hospitality."

Wonderful Vacation Week

  • 5 of 5
I just returned from spending a week of vacation at this property. I put my kayak in the water on Sunday and didn't take it out until the very last minute on Friday night. Spent 4 straight days kayaking the waterways exploring the cove & river was out on the water for 2 hours every day. Biked the East Bay Rail to Trail for 14 miles one day for a fun easy ride. The house was comfortable and everything as described. Thinking about returning next year well worth it.

Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5
We were looking for a vacation that was peaceful and relaxing...we got that and more! The first thing that I noticed when we walked in was how clean the property was. We felt like we were at a friend's house not a vacation rental. The home was spacious and with eight of us we never felt crowded.
We loved taking a walk to the beach, walking to get an ice cream cone, and riding our bikes.
We decided to go to Newport for a day and that was a very pleasant experience also. They were very visitor friendly.
We enjoyed sitting on the deck and playing some board games and just enjoying the quiet surroundings. This vacation was a winner. In fact, the kids are already making plans to go back next year. The owners were wonderful - very helpful too.

The property was everything it promised to be.

  • 5 of 5
The house met and exceeded every expectation we had from the website description. The owner lives next door and made sure that we were comfortable and had all the necessary information for a great vacation. The location is peaceful, relaxing and convenient to a wide range of attractions. We would recommend this place to anyone. It would suite families and groups of friends alike. We ate out often and had a good experience at most places, especially 15 Point Road and the Boat House in Tiverton. Newport is packed with things to do, we used the beaches there and took the harbor cruise.

Perfect home away from home

  • 5 of 5
Our family recently stayed here for the last week of June. This vacation house is just as maintained and as clean as the pictures posted. It is quiet and peaceful with a beautiful view of the bay. The house is well stocked with everything you need and more. There is a great amount of clean linens and the kitchen has everything you could think of. I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the entire place. The owners are very helpful and are available for all your needs or questions and suggestions. The area has great restaurants close to the house, several beaches and an easy drive to Newport. I hope that our family has the opportunity to return to this great place.
