We love our Mountain Getaway. We live in the Portland area so it is a 45 minute drive to feel like we are away from the busy life in town. We enjoy Hiking, Skiing, Snowshoeing and Fishing in the Mt Hood Territory. Our cabin is a wonderful place, in a excellent location to visit with family and friends. We are sure you will find it just as enjoyable and relaxing as we do.
The Owner purchased this cabin in 2008
We have always wanted to live on the River.
It is close to some of the best wilderness trails, tallest old growth trees and stunning views of the rivers and mountians.
We enjoy all Mt. Hood outdoor activities,
including Golfing about 10 mins. away in the small town of Welches.
Great restaurants and gift shops just up the road
Mountain Bike trails and great fishing holes --very close by--
Central location for all outdoor activities.
Or just sit back in the corona chairs and take in the best wild river --rapid views-- you dream about.
Sitting back, with a small fire by the river or sitting on the large cedar decks watching the river flow.
Big open great room so the whole family has together time.
It dosen't get any better than this !!
The open space is just great for a large group of people cooking together and playing games. We really enjoyed staying here!
Four of us stayed at this cabin for a week. It was wonderful. We opened the windows at night to hear the sounds of the river. Had fires in the fire pit on most nights. Beautiful back yard. Plenty of room. Great kitchen. We liked the location. In an hour or two, you could be at the Oregon coast, touring the wine country, whitewater rafting on the White Salmon river in Washington, hiking the Dalles or watching the kitesurfers in Hood River. We had a wonderful time and the owners were great to work with. Would definately stay here again.
We stayed at the cabin for a week with another couple. The setting is wonderful and there are a lot of day trips you can take to go sightseeing and hiking. Wonderful experience!
The house was beautiful. I think it was even more beautiful than the pictures suggest. The grounds outside were gorgeous with the river out front. Everyone complimented me on the house, and these family members of mine can be picky! Mary was a great communicator and host, responding promptly and helping us feel very comfortable with the rental!
Thanks Mary and Daniel!
The cabin is a great combination of modern conveniences inside, combined with a wilderness feel outside. Inside, there is central heat and air conditioning, wifi, HD cable TV and a great kitchen. Outside, there is the Sandy River and wonderful tall trees all around the property.
One comment for folks who want to be completely secluded with no neighbors. There are houses on each side of the cabin. I only noticed one person at one of the houses during our stay. It is very quiet here.
This is a great cabin in a great location!
Salmon and Steelhead fishing is also less than 5 mins down the road --where the Sandy and Salmon Rivers met ---( natural wild river ---from the top of Mt. Hood to the Columbia River ) . Also the Brightwood store is 3 mins. down the road for bait, beverages and snow parking permit or summer trail permit.
Golfing, restaurants or massage 7 mins. to Welches.
Sandy Ridge Bike Trail and Windells Snow Board Camp 5 Mins or less down the road
NOTE -- The good thing about this elevation in the winter --is the fact you rarely have difficulty getting around.
( another 1 or 2 thousand foot -up and you are shoveling your car in and out daily )
