Exceeded Expectations!

My wife and our two kids and I spent a lovely 9 days at Papakea Resort in this unit. I would recommend it to anyone.
The unit is a ground floor garden view corner unit towards the back of the complex. It has pleasant appealing views from the patio window and lanai of the beautiful tropical courtyard, pool, and well-kept koi pond - even a slice of the ocean!. As a corner unit, the living room has an extra window which is nice for natural light. It is extremely convenient to parking.
The photos accurately reflect the unit's condition - everything is clean and in good repair with obvious recent upgrades. A/C worked well - deluxe sleeper couch was great. Kitchen had everything we needed. Unit is plentifully stocked with beach and game extras which we enjoyed.
The owner was friendly, patient, and a treat to work with - made it extremely easy to rent, answering all my questions promptly and accurately. NO hassle - easier than many hotel reservations I've made.
Papakea Resort itself is lovely - a low-rise spread-out complex of condos, some rented by Aston, some rented by owners. No high-rises towering over you - feels quiet and private. Two very nice albeit un-spectacular pools, two very nice large hottubs, and a bunch of top-notch gas grills available for barbequeing lunch or dinner.
While quiet at night is reasonably enforced, Papakea is kid-friendly and fun. A pricey convenience store and more reasonable grocery store are within 1 minute of the resort by car or a very easy short walk. So are a collection of restaurants, including a Subway. No food service or bar on resort property.
The grounds are well maintained and monitored. You are ON the ocean - but there is no beach off the resort as such - small sand spits and rocks... which are nice for snorkeling and turtle-watching. (!) The lawns by the seawall are immaculately groomed and have lounges for oceanside sunning. Nice sand beaches are available steps from the resort boundary, and you're a 6-minute drive by car to what may be the best beach on the planet - Ka'anipali. The walk down to the "wrong side" of Black Rock at Sheraton Maui from Papakea is long but fun.
The resort IS older but in excellent condition and immaculate. We were not bothered once by any of the maintenance going on on the other side of the resort.
Check in and out was great - no stigma attached to renting from an owner vs Aston direct.
