"A Shore Thing" is located on the serene and beautiful peninsula known as Alligator Point (named for its shape, not it's inhabitants). The house was built in 2008 and is adjacent to the boardwalk beach access. This home is finished throughout with custom details and furnishings; 100 year old reclaimed oak floors, copper and vintage lighting, travertine bathroom floors and counter tops, cypress beams and soaring 24 ft ceilings in the great room......all of these touches promise the warmest and most comfortable of vacation spots for your family.

The master suite is on the main level with a large walk-in travertine and glass shower and a 9 ft double vanity. French doors lead to a huge screened porch with teak furnished dining and living areas where you can relax and enjoy the sites and sounds of the Gulf of Mexico.

Also on the main level you'll find the second bedroom with twin beds and a video library contained in a built-in entertainment center. Across the hall is a full bath with travertine and glass shower/tub and an antique vanity. The queen bedroom boasts an iron bed and a cozy toddler bed. The half bath across the hall has a beautiful old elm armoire containing a vessel sink and storage. All bedrooms have upgraded mattresses and custom linens.

The Loft is easily accessible. It is a spacious area to watch movies or play games. With whimsical cedar shake accents, You'll find it to be one of your favorite spots in the house.

Below the house you'll find ample parking, a sink for cleaning fish and a refreshing outdoor shower.

Alligator Point has a full service marina with snack bar. Bald Point State Park is only minutes away with a multitude of land and water activities. Some of the most picturesque scenic areas along North Florida's Gulf Coast can be found in this park, so bring your bikes and binoculars.

St. James Bay Golf Course is located 20 minutes south on U.S. 98. It is a perfectly manicured 18 hole championship course with casual and fine dining at The Crooked River Grille.

Be sure to visit historic Apalachicola, 52 miles south, where you will find an eclectic and trendy mix of waterfront shops, restaurants, galleries and more.

There are restaurants and stores within a 30 minute radius.

So relax and rejuvenate. You can't go wrong with "A Shore Thing"

My husband, 4 yr old son and I just spend 10 amazing days at "A Shore Thing"! We couldn't have been more pleased. The home is emasculate, cozy, well appointed and beautifully decorated. No, it is not directly on the beach, but you couldn't be any closer. FYI, even beachfront homes come with a short walk. Janine (the owner) was fantastic! She responded to my inquiries immediately and returned by deposit promptly. The home has all you need....paper products, w/d with detergent, charcoal, beach toys, etc. Bring your own personal toiletries and don't forget to get your food in advance...it's a 20 min drive into Crawfordville to Walmart. We cooked at home every night! It was quiet and safe! We went to the beach every day and saw tons of dolphins so close you thought you could touch them. There are other properties that are beachfront for rent, but they are not nearly as luxurious! I chose this one for that specific reason. You will not be sorry. There is even a wagon, beach chairs, beach towels, umbrellas, etc. to make your short 2 minute walk to the beach a breeze. The beach is like your own like bit of paradise....totally secluded. Don't forget bug spray....the sand flies are awful! Also, if you want music, bring a radio or IPOD doc. Other than that, you are set. We will return again to Alligator Point and would stay nowhere else!

This beautiful home is done with such taste and thoughts to details. From the comfortable beds and bedding to ease of use of the kitchen. The home has everything you will need other than the food, wine and BUTLER. The large screen porch allowing you to sit in peace and quiet while over looking the wildlife. I spent the last week before school started for my son. It was so peaceful on the porch while my son entertained by the white squirrels running around. He had more fun pretend building them a home and watching to see if the found the food he left in there newly built home. We would sit on the porch at night waiting to hear or see a bear. We never got our eyes on a bear but we had more fun thinking we might. I want to thank Janine for sharing her home with me for the month. Yes, I got to stay for a month and it made the weekends even more pleasurable knowing, I was heading back down to the beach to such a beautiful and well thought out home.

We want to thank Janine for letting us say in her wounderful home. We saw lots of diferent kinds of wild life. We made several tips down to the beach each day. When we sat on the porch we could see and hear the ocean. We had a great week. I would recomend this house to anyone wanting a peaceful and relaxing get away. I would love to go their again someday. Our blended family full of four teenage daughers and one son nine, love this vaction home. Enough space for all to relax, bond and head safely to the beach as they wished. The wagon, umbrellas, grill and extras we were able to use were a huge plus for our days at the beach (moments away). It honestly was more than this Iowa family expected and we will be recomending this home for all!

Another Great Stay!

When other vacation plans fell through, we decided to come back to Alligator Point for another visit and (as I noted in my previous review) didn't even look for another house. Janine was able to accommodate us on very short notice and was again a gracious host. The house had everything we needed and the weather was wonderful. I'm sure we'll be back again!
