Arriving from Germany: Munich – Salzburg, take the A1 towards Vienna, then the St. Georgen exit after about 50 km. Munich to Berg is about 193 km. Alt. route: Passau – Ried autobahn, then via Frankenburg – Vöcklamarkt to St.Georgen / Berg. Regensburg to Berg is about 200 km. Arriving from Switzerland: Zurich via Feldkirch, Arlberg, Innsbruck, Kufstein, Salzburg, St.Georgen / Berg. Zürich to Berg is about 520 km. Driving time is about six hours, all autobahn. Alternative: take the Innsbruck autobahn to the Wörgl-Ost exit, the highway via Lofer to Salzburg, then the Autobahn towards Linz / Vienna. After 50 km, take the St. Georgen / Berg exit. Distance about 510 km. Motorail train: travel comfortably to the Salzburg train station, take the autobahn towards Linz / Vienna, exit at St. Georgen / Berg. By train: long-distance train to Salzburg, then local train to Vöcklamarkt, then via the small-gauge railway to the St. Georgen station. Next airport: Salzburg 50 km, Munich: 190 km.
Location and region:
Ther region of Attergau is nestled in amidst a grand landscape of rolling hills. From the little farming village of Berg, located on a knoll 150 m above Lake Atter, one has a fantastic panoramic view of the Alpine forelands to the north. To the south there is a beautiful, almost kitschy view of the lake and the mountains. Lakeview Country House is a perfect place to relax. Excellent restaurants, cafes, pubs, wine bars, rustic mountain eateries, nearby bars and discos all help to provide for your physical well-being. The main town of Vöcklabruck (pop. 12,000) has a medieval center and a large market Wednesdays and Saturdays. It is located 20 km away. One can enjoy a bit of city life in Salzburg (50 km), Wels (40 km), Linz (70 km), Munich (193 km) and Vienna (200 km).

As a starting point, Berg is ideally located. UNESCO has declared Salzkammergut's wonderful landscape a world cultural heritage site. It includes 76 lakes, mountains (up to 3,000 m high), gentle hills and valleys, alpine meadows and unique villages. Famous towns and cities, such as Salzburg, St. Wolfgang, Gmunden, Hallstatt and Bad Ischl are all located within a radius of 50 km. They still exude the enchanted atmosphere of the Austrian K&K Empire. Whether appreciating nature, taking up sports, or enjoying culture, everything is available in abundance. And all of this can be enjoyed with the legendary Austrian charm and hospitality.
Ski:
Winter sports: we're not right in the center of the ski resorts, but family ski hills are nearby and the Salzburg region's large resorts are close. Ski runs, cross-country ski trails, tobogganing runs and skating rinks are all found within 2 to 15 km in St. Georgen, Nussdorf, Steinbach, and Weyregg. It's all available around Lake Atter. Located nearby: Feuerkogel by Lake Trauns, Kasberg near Gmunden, Postalm and Zwölferhorn by Lake Wolfgang, etc. The large ski resorts are between 50 and 100 km away, many can be reached by autobahn. Tauplitz-Alm by Bad Mitterndorf, Dachstein glacier with winter and summer skiing and the Amadè sports world, home of the ski star Hermann Meier. For winter hiking, we recommend the Post-Alm by Lake Wolfgang, with its splendid alpine panorama and its many rustic farmhouses. Finally, we recommend enjoying a 'Salzburger Nockerl' in the Weißen Rössl in St.Wolfgang, or paying a visit to the Zauner confectionary, empress Elizabeth's favorite cafe in Bad Ischl.
