I was planning a trip with my college friend of 30 years who was planning on studying language at CPI in Flamingo while I wanted to experience a serene vacation with lots of yoga classes. This condo turned out to be wonderful. We each had our own spacious rooms with bathrooms ensuite and a great room/kitchen and balconies. The beds are comfortable and I am like the princess and the pea so comfortable beds are a must. The kitchen has a great blender, refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave and is fully appointed. It also has airconditioning in each room, so people can maintain environments comfortable to them or you can use fans and keep the windows and door open, which I mostly did. There aren't a lot of bugs or mosquitoes here either which is really nice. The location was really central and within walking distance to Flamingo and Bahia Del Sol and the Jungle Gym for yoga classes. While it gets hot in the afternoon, with sun protection and water the walk is fine and quite pleasant. The walk to flamingo and Bahia Del Sol involves mostly walking along the beach. It's very quiet and two middle age women felt safe during our entire stay even while walking at night on the beach. It's a wonderful area to get away from it all and if you want to cook you can if not, there are restaurants of every style nearby. The cabs are pretty reasonable, about $6 one way or the bus for about 40 cents. The buses are modern, clean and friendly. We did rent a car to go on a boat tour of Palo Verde where you see birds, iguanas, crocodiles, macaws, white faced monkeys and howler monkeys, the Zip Lines near Nuevo Colon which are fantastic, and Playa Avellana, which has a wonderful restaurant Lola's on the beach. You can take the bus to Brasilito and walk to the beach at Conchal--also worth a few hours. There is also Playa au sucar or Sugar Beach for dinner at sunset and you need a car for that.
Ann was fantastic for helping me figure out how to get there from the airport for less than the guidebooks say, where to go for yoga as well as helping us understand things like paying the airport exit taxes at the local bank so you don't have to wait in line at the airport to do it at departure, as well as the latest buzz on the local restaurants and spa services and practical things like the closest atm and supermarket that even has things like goat cheese soy milk, great coffee and gluten free stuff and wonderful produce (right there for both). There is a farmer's market Friday nearby.
