The Pukana La 'Sunrise' is located in Hale Koolau, a family owned & operated group of ocean & beach front vacation rental homes in Honolulu, Hawaii located in the fishing town of Hauula on Oahu's North Shore near the Polynesian Cultural Center, Turtle Bay, Kualoa Ranch, and many other wonderful Oahu attractions. We are located approximately 45 minutes from Honolulu International Airport on the North East coast of Oahu; where the Ko’olau Mountains touch the Pacific Ocean.

Hale Ko'olau is a member of THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU OF Hawaii with an A+ rating!

The Pukana La is a completely remodeled and updated 'Hawaiian style' cottage circa 1930s with a dramatic 'wall of windows' in the main living area overlooking the ocean and Hauula Bay. Pukana La is a fully air conditioned & spacious two bedroom, one bath duplex home with porcelain tile floors throughout. The Pukana La features a full remodeled (2007) complete, modern and open kitchen with maple cabinets, granite counter tops, sealed top stove/range, dishwasher, built-in microwave, fridge, and all the cooking utensils you need to prepare complete meals. The kitchen opens to the living area with a convenient breakfast bar/nook while enjoying direct ocean views.

The living area is richly decorated with warm tropical & plantation style furniture and also has wrap-around breath-taking ocean views. There is a queen size sleeper sofa in the living room. In the dining room area the original red wood beams have been exposed and creative lighting illuminates the ceiling. The master suite has tranquil garden views and features a new (2007) Sealy pillow top queen size bed. The second bedroom also has a new pillow top queen size bed and heavy teak and tropical furniture for an elegant feel. Both bedrooms have individually controlled air conditioning & tropical ceiling fans although they are rarely needed as this home enjoys cool tropical breezes year around. There is a separately controlled air conditioner and tropical ceiling fans in the living room as well.

About The Owner

We have owned and operated these properties for two generations. We have operated as Hale Koolau LLC for nearly a decade, however prior to this change of entity we operated the business as sole proprietors, accommodating thousands of guests over the years. We are a member of the Better Business Bureau of Hawaii with an A+ rating, member of the Hawaii Chamber of Commerce, and have an 'excellent' rating on TripAdvisor.

Our family has owned and operated this business for two generations now. Originally our goal was to provide accommodations for people visiting family at BYU-Hawaii who wanted a more family-friendly atmosphere. We then realized the need for quality oceanfront vacation rentals at an affordable rate...this is our mission today, to provide quality, yet affordable, oceanfront vacation rentals on the North Shore of Oahu.

What makes this house unique

Guests who stay with us get more than just a place to sleep at night, they get their own beach house on the North Shore of Oahu. We have 450 linear feet of oceanfront property giving our guests plenty of room to lounge in the sun while being cooled down by the gentle breezes of the South Pacific Ocean. We also have four hot tubs on the property plus complimentary high-speed internet. We are happy to provide our guests with access to amenities such as snorkel equipment, kayaks, beach & picnic equipment, and more for a nominal service fee. We are located four minutes from the Polynesian Cultural Center and Brigham Young University Hawaii. If you like to be away from the crowds, this place is for you. Situated on the windward side of the North Shore nestled in a neighborhood with an outstanding view. Our cottage was only 20 feet from the water. I was a little disappointed with the cleanliness of the place, the floors need a good scrubbing and the entire place needs a good dusting and vacuuming (dust accumulated on the woodwork on the ceilings and walls), but other then that the place was lovely and serene. Overall I would recommend the Pukana La in Hauula Hawaii to family and friends alike.
Recommended for:  Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
