THE 'HOBLET' CABIN, 14 MIN. TO THE FALLS,IN A NATURE SETTING

Niagara Falls Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 1 Bedroom + Other (See Description), 1 Bath, sleeps 4 (2 adults,2 kids)

Just a 14 minute drive from the brink of Niagara Falls! Our 'hoblet' has the look of a woodsy cabin, but is spacious and modern. 600 sq. feet in total with a large studio living room, separate bedroom and a bathroom with a built in 2 seater far infrared sauna. Outside is viewed through 5 sets of double glass patio doors & 3 skylights.Your retreat includes breakfast, via a lightly stocked kitchen and all the ammenities. The green living roof is very special. Your 'yard' is a hardwood forest with a small stream running through. Beautifully landscaped out in the country yet only 15 minutes from the brink of the falls with emphasis on nature and good energy. On site and for your viewing is our equine rescue, home to 7 donkeys, 1 mule, 2 pot belly piggies, and 2 wonderful, friendly little goats, (2 dogs). Your rental is completely private from the main house, has its own driveway with a delightful walk through the trees and past the 'circle of elements', a great fire pit with boulders encompassing that space.

Wonderful walks by the forest, ponds, & stream all help to create a very special energy in and around the 'cabin'. Your host, Petra, has received the Ambassador of Tourism Award from the Canadian government during her eight years as a professional tour guide in Niagara Falls, now Petra spends her free time looking after the donkeys and animals, and her guests. Please see our website for more photos of the 'space' and the surrounding area, we look forward to meeting you!

For our guests staying 2night or more, a wonderful one hour 'Meet and Greet the Animlas' is included with your stay. Spend some one on one time with your favorite donkey. The emphasis is on nature here enjoy the views and the animals.

Guestbook comments from the owner
Arriving at The Hoblet was exactly what we needed. We loved the feeling of having our own little space nestled in the woods. A little bridge and walkway with animals to greet us for our stay and early rise. Having an Infrared Sauna in the comfort of our own room was a special treat to say the least. The circle of stones surrounding a fire pit was an excellent way to wind down our night. This is a very beautiful place to relax, unwind, detox and be in nature. I would recommend a stay at The Hoblet to anyone interested in doing just that. Glad we found it and will be staying here again the next time we are in Niagara.

I have over 8 years experience as a professional tour guide in Niagara Falls. And a proud recipient of the Ambassador of Tourism Award from the Canadian government. We share our 'space' with 2 dogs, and 7 equines, 2 pot belly pigs named Sheldon and Shpeck, and 2 little, sweet goats; Monty and George. We are passionate about animal welfare, and preserving nature. I speak conversational Spanish and German. Having lived and worked in seven countries, and having travelled extensively I believe my husband and I have come to understand what our national and international guest would appreciate and expect in their travels. We look forwarding to helping you see all the Niagara Peninsula has to offer, there is so much more than just the falls. (Plus our tricks of the trade can help you save money, time and aggravation).

Avoid the hustle of hotels and the commercialism. Its all there for you when YOU want it, a short country drive away. Enjoy the energy of the forest and nature and at the same time your patronage helps provide the care and welfare of the rescued animals on site (as well as any other rescue situations that come our way). Be a part of it 'all' in so many different aspects than the everyday traveler experiences now a days. We are unique!

For more photos, and a 'feel' for what we have created please ask about our website - truly a retreat, yet all the modern comforts and facilities, and so much more! Even the locals come for a visit.

BEAUTIFUL AND FUN

  • 5 of 5
I loved every minute of my stay at the Hoblet. It is a safe and enjoyable environment for children. Our hosts were wonderful. We appreciated returning to the countryside after our visits of the different attractions in the area. I recommend the Hoblet to anyone who likes nature, animals and having a few quiet moments during their vacation.

BOTH THE "HOBLET" AND OUR HOSTS WERE CHARMING!

Both the "Hoblet" and our hosts were charming!
  • 5 of 5
My husband, 10 year old daughter and I stayed at the "Hoblet" for five wonderful nights including Easter. From the moment that we arrived, we knew that we had found a hidden gem. We were greeted with fresh flowers and Easter treats for my daughter. The "Hoblet" was warm and inviting, just as it appears in the photos. We loved the proximity to both Niagara Falls and Niagara-on-the-Lake and plan to return to use it as a springboard for adventures in other Ontario destinations like Port Colbourne and Toronto.

I can't say enough good things about Petra and Mush. In addition to keeping the "Hoblet" in excellent condition, Petra goes above and beyond to ensure that their guests have an excellent time. Based on her suggestions, we visited the local (and exceptional) Farmer's Market, changed our itinerary to avoid Easter weekend closures, enjoyed a wonderful Easter brunch at Element on the Falls, visited the free museum at The Welland Canals Centre and saw a ship navigate through Lock 3 on their way through the St. Lawrence Seaway System. As advertised, it's as close as you'll get to a Great Lakes Ship unless you're a sailor! Without Petra's sound advice, we would not have thought about how the weather would impact our view from the Skylon Tower. Luckily, she told us that in inclement weather we wouldn't be able to see the Falls. We changed our reservation at the revolving dining room from a predicted rainy day to a beautiful clear one allowing us exceptional views of both the Horseshoe and American Falls as well as the whole Niagara area.

In addition to all of the attractions that we visited away from the "Hoblet", the animals at the "Hoblet" are an attraction themselves. My daughter couldn't wait to return each night so that she could feed the donkeys, mule, goats and pot belly pigs. The meet and greet with the animals was one of the highlights of the trip for her and we all enjoyed being greeted enthusiastically by George, Monty and Cuddles whenever we walked by their enclosure.

If I were asked what is the one thing that we enjoyed most about the "Hoblet" I would say its proximity to all of the numerous attractions that the Niagara area has to offer and its distance from them. Staying at the "Hoblet" allows you the absolute peace to rest and recharge and yet is just a short ride from so many exciting adventures. It's truly the best of both worlds. We can't wait to visit again!

Owner's Response: How humbling, a sincere thank you for your kind review. We enjoyed having "the family" for Easter. Mush and I truly hope that our guests enjoy Niagara (and the hoblet) to the full extent. It makes it all worthwhile to hear they do. It was our pleasure. Hope to see you again. The "gang" sends a big thanks too!

ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!!!

  • 5 of 5
Our stay was perfect!!! This was our first visit and right from the moment I spoke to Petra I knew we would love The Hoblet. We were greeted with such a warm reception which set the tone for the weekend. Petra and Mush made us feel very welcome and "at home". The Hoblet layout was perfect, very, very clean and bright!!! If one is looking to kick back and relax it is a wonderful getaway. The location is perfect for sight seeing and the town is just a short drive, with much to offer. The animals were lovely and added such a nice touch to the experience. There isn't enough room to write how wonderful our stay was but just to say we are coming back soon.....and as often as we can!!

BEYOND OUR EXPECTATIONS

  • 5 of 5
We spent a quiet birthday weekend at the hoblet and what a wonderful place to be..... Between the lovely, updated cabin, all the natural light, sauna, bikes, the gentle animals, and welcoming hosts.....there's not a better place to escape from the hectic city grind. We had a wonderful weekend with nature, and the best sleep in a long time.
We would highly recommend a visit ...next time we will stay longer.

HOME AWAY FROM HOME:)

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I recently spent 2 nights at the Hoblet house celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary! Petra was so sweet with flowers and a card to welcome us for our visit. The house is set in a very peaceful place surrounded by nature and the animals:) We loved it. Petra gave us many great suggestions of places to eat and sites to see. We loved the sauna/movies and even played some cribbage...it was nice to not be connected to the outside world while we were there..but if you need internet Petra is glad to provide the service. We were not disappointed in our stay at all...the Hoblet house made our stay special!

THE HOBLET

  • 5 of 5
My girl friend and I stayed here for a long weekend in February. The "Hoblet" was such a great place to come back to after a day out exploring the Niagara region. It was warm and cosy with all the amenities we needed. We cooked our own meals to save money (we're students), cuddled up and watched movies from the hoblet's massive dvd collection and enjoyed the use of the sauna built into the washroom. It was awesome to get to interact with all of the animals around the property, I really liked the escape artist billy goat monty and my girl friend's favorite was the little donkey cuddles! The accommodations, property and animals were all great, but the best part of the rental was getting to meet and talk to Petra and Mush. They are amazing people and will bend over backwards to ensure you enjoy your time there. They have a grand knowledge of the area and what to do there. They told us about some nooks and crannies that you simply wouldn't find walking around by yourself. They were super friendly and i enjoyed chatting with them while they were out feeding the animals, however they are sure to respect and give you as much privacy as they can. I highly recommend this vacation rental. My girlfriend wanted to stay a few extra nights and i know we will be planning a trip back.

Owner's Response: ...thanks so much, and for filling us in on ice climbing! who knew - (guess I'm showing my age LOL!), but another great thing about southern Ontario, thanks for sharing that, we will be sure to pass that on to guests looking for something new and exciting to do. We enjoyed having you!

As we resque donkeys (and 'anyone' else in need, our latest arrival is Sheldon the pot belly pig) we find our guests enjoy the spirit of the animals. Included in a 2 (or more) night stay is a 'meet & greet' with the animals. One on one time and supervised by ourselves to introduce you to the animals that have found a home here. Groom them, hear their stories, and learn what is involved in taking in an animal. Many of our guests have commented on learning information about certain animals that has effected their decision on which animal would fit in their situation and which would not. Great photo time as well. This feature is totally optional. Some our guests barely have time to see all the sights in the area. When you check it just let us know if you would like to schedule a 'meet & greet'..

Also your hostess, Petra, is a certified hatha yoga instructor, if you wish to do a private class while here call for details, a 90 minute private one on one class for your party is $30.00 (Cad)
