Enjoy our new two bedroom rustic cabin just a few minutes from Cornell University and Ithaca College.
Surrounded by magnificent hemlock trees and nestled on the hillside above Lake Cayuga, the cabin also has a shale beachfront and dock with use of the kayaks, canoe, and boathouse.
You can focus on water sports or use the cabin as a base for exploring the spectacular scenery (the gorgeous gorges are just minutes away), wineries, restaurants, colleges, museums, Watkins Glenn activities and other treasures of the area.
Although you are only minutes from all that Ithaca has to offer (including Wegman's!), the cabin is a world apart: you feel as though you are in a treehouse--surrounded by hemlocks and rhododedren. A walk down the hillside brings you to the shale beachfront and access to Ithaca's most stunning asset: 40-mile long, 600+ feet deep, glacier-formed Lake Cayuga.
A big advantage of the cabin is its location on the lake but in Ithaca. Most Cayuga Lake cabins are 20-35 miles away from the Ithaca attractions.
We live in the large house on the property but your parking, entrance, beachfront, etc., are all private, we rarely cross paths with the folks in the cabin. We also rent the main house when we are out of town--it holds 8-10 guests.
Great Cabin! We made sure to hit the Farmer's market and local butcher and made a couple really nice dinners we enjoyed in the cabin--and it also was the perfect homebase for all the day trips we took (wineries, zip lining, the Falls, and everything we love about Ithaca).
we also enjoyed the kayak!
I'm glad we had a chance to meet you! thank you for being great hosts and checking in with us on those cold nights (great sleeping weather)!
All the best
We stayed in this cute little cabin for our honeymoon. The cabin was fully set up with towels, linens, and kitchen appliances and utensils. There is a short staircase to the lake. We enjoyed relaxing on the dock and kayaking everyday (boats included). The cabin is near other houses but we never noticed this. It was very private! It is located very close to downtown Ithaca, so it would be perfect for graduations and other events happening in town. We hope to come back!!
We first discovered this hidden gem set down in its own little wooded nook on cayuga lake 2 years ago. As a family of 4 with two young children, we were looking for something quiet and private, but also with some action and fun nearby....and we found it!! This cottage could not have filled our needs better - it is right on the beautiful lake with its own private dock, including use of canoes and kayaks. You are also minutes from town with restaurants, shopping, and of course - the amazing ithaca farmers market! Down the road the other way, you can discover taughannock falls state park for days! With gorgeous buttermilk falls, crisp and cool treeman gorge, and the fun filled science center all within minutes, not to mention all the fishing and swimming in the lake, this cottage is the perfect vacation spot. A spot my family and I plan to enjoy year after year. In fact, my children ask when we are going back to "our vacation in the woods" almost daily! Highly recommend!!!
We are a family of four from London and just stayed for 4 days in Ithaca. Looking at what the previous reviewer said - it might have been cheaper and easier for us to have stayed in a hotel, but I'm so glad we decided to stay at the cabin instead. The only 'problem' we had was just sorting out how to pay which a little more than just keying in a credit card number, but we managed to work it out. The cabin served our needs well enough - beds were comfortable and everything was clean when we arrived. Best bits were the location plus the access to the beach and lake including use of kayaks - you couldn't get that in a hotel! It was just so peaceful. We really liked Glenwood Pines and visited twice.
Really an attic over a garage, very small, furnished with very used random uncomfortable furniture ( not as pictured) , poorly equipped kitchen area. Almost unusable tiny shower. Unbearably hot while we were there (indoors temp never below 82 degrees) . Ithaca was wonderful but this was a very expensive disappointment! For the cost very little amenities. Would not recommend. Stay in hotel with all of the amenities for less than half this cost!
Our cottage experience on Cayuga Lake was delightful. The cottage is perfect for 2 couples or 4 friends. The cottage is not perfect for elders or people with mobility issues--lots of steps getting up to the parking or down to the lake. For able bodied visitors it was fine. Quiet and in good condition.
Thank you for having us!
