Our 1930's home in Travis Heights has been beautifully remodeled, and is just about perfect. The kitchen is awesome, the bedrooms and bathrooms are wonderful. The living room has a wide screen LCD TV, 1080p HDTV with DVD, cable, and highest speed wireless available.
The large, fenced back yard has huge shade trees and a crushed granite patio. The front yard has plenty of off street parking under a massive, 200 year old Oak tree.
The home is both cozy and contemporary with lots of colorful art. It is close to everything wonderful in Austin.
You can walk to SoCo, the hippest, most laid back and friendliest part of Austin. There you can listen to live music [Mick Jagger reputedly hangs out at the Continental Club when in Austin], eat in great restaurants, shop, treasure hunt, hang and people watch, This being Austin, (one of the top cities to visit without a car) there is a neighborhood bus stop right around the corner (.06 miles). $1 takes you down town to the capitol and 6th street.
Stacy Park and the wooded walking/biking trail, tennis courts and all year pool is just a stroll down the hill.
There is also a wonderful shaded playground with a shallow pool for small children.

We live in Travis Heights, just minutes away. We both love to indulge our creative side, so Travis Heights in Soco is the perfect place for us.
We hope to see you in Austin soon!

Travis Heights represents everything that is wonderful about Austin.
Travis Heights is a quiet neighborhood in Soco, with all its fun and charm. Woodland (which becomes Annie) actually intersects South Congress right where the fun begins!
You will be minutes to lake and trail, to Zilker Park, to tons of live music venues, to Barton Springs, UT, St. Eds, the Convention Center, the airport, the Capitol, or 6th Street.
The neighborhood is very walkable, quiet and laid back. The bus stop around the corner takes you to down town, 6th Street and the Capitol for $1.
In Austin, we love dogs, and the Austin dog park is just a short walk away. Walk a bit further and you arrive at a truly world class park. At Auditorium Shores, located on the banks of Lake Austin, your dog will have acres to romp off-leash, and can even go for a swim.
There are dozens of local eateries within easy walking distance, including world famous Guerro's, Congress Avenue Cafe, and Joe's CrabShack on the lake. There's a great view of downtown ... great for a drink and watching the UT rowing team.
Farmer's Market is a small, quality grocery store [owned by a neighbor] at the corner of Woodland and Congress. Most of what they sell is raised or grown nearby.
There is an HEB at the corner of Congress and Oltorf. It is an OLD one - my husband went there with his grandparents in the 50's! The building is an antique, but the food is fresh and wholesome.
And for a truly artistic experience, visit Whole Foods' flagship store on South Lamar and 6th street. It's simply amazing.
I purposely put this entry off until the last day as I knew it would be emotional! To say we felt at home in our bungalow is an understatement of epic proportions!!
I was born in this neighborhood and spent the first 28 years of my life in Austin. I have never stayed anywhere when visiting other than at my parents' house or a friend's. This was new territory for me, and
All the synchronicity and symmetry in your place was amazing for me. The painting was icing on the cake, and I knew when I walked in the door it would need to live with me, so I thank you very much.
your place made the transition completely natural!
My mom's surgery went great and my son feels so comfortable here he never wants to leave! What more could I ask for!!
You do a wonderful dance between hospitality and privacy :)
With much thanks,
Cute, comfortable bungalow in a quiet neighborhood, convenient to SOCO and downtown. Lovely original artwork thoughout the house. The owner left plenty of bottled water in the refrigerator which was greatly appreciated. The only suggestion I have for improvement is to provide a few more chairs outside in the back yard.
Great location. Could walk everywhere downtown yet close to interstate and airport. The bungalow was charming, comfortable and artfully decorated. Beautiful and safe neighborhood. The yard could use a little TLC and we missed having a TV in the master bedroom. Would definitely recommend this wonderful home and we would definitely stay here again when we next visit Austin. Loved all the art & bright color!
Beautiful house, very kind and helpful hosts, excellent location - would defi Italy go back and strongly recommend .
We truly enjoyed the location of this home as we could walk to South Congress to enjoy the shopping, food trucks and restaurants. This home is also near the expressway so a quick drive to downtown and beyond. The neighborhood is quiet although there is some street noise that can be heard. The home is laid out well and has a nicely stocked kitchen. All of us, including our dog, enjoyed the fenced back yard to relax and play ball. The owners added a 2nd tv and cable in the master bedroom which was a very nice addition. Our only hesitation in giving the home a 5 star were 2 items; too much furniture and it was difficult keeping the home warm enough on the cold days during our stay. If the temperature outside was below freezing the home would heat up only to 69 degrees. This home is very much worth the rental rate charged.
This little house was just right for my husband, me and our small dog. The owners were great to have someone cut the grass and rake the yard so our fluffy pup would not bring in the outdoors each time she went out. The kitchen was well stocked with spices, plenty of cutlery and cooking equipment. The owner decorated with her own colorful artwork on all the walls! We walked to the downtown area easily and it was conveniently located to the parks. It was just as we expected and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
My husband, son, dog, and I stayed at this property for two nights for a very last minute getaway to Austin. The property is adorable, there are plenty of linens and towels, the kitchen has gourmet cooking appliances, and the setup of the house makes it feel quite spacious. The entire place is tastefully decorated, and it feels quite cozy and comfortable. The owners are simply wonderful: my son has a long-term illness, and when a few issues came up that related to his illness, they were immediately and thoroughly accommodating in addressing the issues. I would absolutely recommend this house. The only issue we had was that, although it's only a 15 minute walk or so to SOCO, it is a difficult walk with a stroller, as there were no sidewalks (at least the route we took to walk there had no sidewalks). Without a stroller, it's totally fine to walk. Great house, great location, great owners, great city.
