Wonderful Downtown Condo within Walking Distance to Everything

Across from the Whitefish Community Center, we thought this to be a promising accomodation since my Mom's 90th birthday celebration was to be held there and we were involved in the planning and set up for the celebration. That was about the only plus to this listing.

We arrived late in the evening to find a note from the owner welcoming us and to contact him if we had any questions (which we did), but no phone number...and no general instructions about the place or process for checking in or checking out. The next morning I had to call homeaway.com to get his phone number to ask some of these check-in questions about the property.

The next thing we noticed was the kitchen with a refrigerator and freezer left with food from the last tenant (I assume) which we emptied out. General cleanliness in the kitchen was not to our standard with dirty silverware/utensil drawers including other shelf and cupboard and dishwasher surfaces. Oven and stove were not cleaned. Bathrooms as well were not cleaned and linens were all stained. Sheets did not fit beds and bedspreads were stained

No screen on the guest bedroom window.

We also question the adverising:

1. advertised as 2 bedrooms with queen beds. Against our wishes the owner replaced one queen bed with two twin beds.

2. advertised as "sleeps 6" but the sofa does not make into a bed and there was only bedding for 4.

3. advertised as taking credit cards but check only by this owner.

Our rating for this listing is poor to fair...
