Even better than expected--and I expected a lot!

If you’re considering different options on Georgetown Lake (or most anywhere else in western Montana) you can quit looking—you’ve found the place to stay. I debated whether or not to take our east coast visitors to Georgetown, Flathead, or Seeley (or just remaining in Missoula), but I have no doubt this was the right choice. This cabin is amazing and there’s a ton to do in the area.

From the deck you see why the distant highway got a “Scenic Route” designation—you look right onto the face of the rugged Anaconda-Pinter range. This is NOT the case for all cabins on the lake since many look at the pretty (but wimpy) mountains surrounding the lake in other directions. It’s unbeatable to be sitting on the dock in the bay (admit it, you’re humming the song) and having fish jump all around you in the early morning (just a short jaunt directly down the hill as advertised), all the while being watched by a bald eagle perched in a dead snag. Trust me—it happens.

Back inside the cabin, the floorplan is perfect for one or two families. We had both during our stay so I can say this with some authority. The upstairs and lower (daylight) levels have similar layouts: two bedrooms across the back, a large room spanning the front (a game/TV room downstairs and the living/dining room upstairs, both with external doors), with the middle third being taken up by a full bathroom plus a kitchen (upstairs) or utility room (downstairs). This allows two groups to either interact or lead separate lives, depending on your preference. People can, as we did, stay up late or get up early without disturbing the others.

If you want to leave the cabin but stay near the lake, rent an aluminum fishing boat at Moose Marina for just $25 an hour, gas included (at least in 2013). Don’t fish? Don’t worry--on a calm day (3 out of 4 of ours, with beautiful thunderstorms rolling through on the remaining one), the boat trip is a fairly leisurely 1 ½ hour trip around the lake giving a completely different viewpoint. As someone else said, there is essentially NO shopping at the lake, meaning a drive to Philipsburg or Anaconda for groceries, but I found that Moose Marina is open to 8:00 PM and, in addition to boats, it can provide some essentials (including s’mores makings for use on the cabin’s fire pit) or enough beer and wine so you no longer notice you’re hungry.

I’ve loved Philipsburg (or P-burg to the locals) since the days when it was all boarded up, and it’s only gotten bette

Great home base for winter fun

  • 5 of 5
Our party of seven adults and one 3-year-old had a great winter girls getaway weekend staying here. The house is more spacious and open than I expected from the photos. We had plenty of room for hanging out together in the common areas and also to accommodate both early birds and night owls. We arrived in the dark and it was awesome to wake up to the amazing panoramic view. The main room has so many windows and so much light and the view is so awesome that it was tempting to just stay in pajamas and not even leave the house all day. We had some trouble figuring out how to turn on the stove when we first arrived, and we were able to reach the homeowners right away for assistance. If we stay in Georgetown Lake again, we would definitely want to rent this place.

Perfect Size and Location

  • 5 of 5
Spent two nights at this wonderful home on Georgetown Lake. Although it was very cold and overcast, inside was warm and cozy. There are beautiful views of the lake and the mountains beyond. The owners were incredible to work with and did everything within their power to make our stay very comofortable. This is our second trip to this cabin as a location for down time when not skiing, and we hope to have the opportunity to visit again in the future.

The proximity to Discovery Ski area is perfect. A short drive.

Cloud 590

  • 5 of 5
Our family spent a wonderful and most relaxing stay at the Cloud 590 property. It was very clean and the description was most accurate. When we arrived we had a problem with the combination lock opening the front door. My husband called the property manager and was answered immediately, and given a different code to open the door and the problem was solved. The customer service couldn't have been better. It was a wonderful, relaxing, and very enjoyable vacation and we definetly look forward to using this company again in the future.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much!! We really like the arrangement of the cabin on two floors so that people can have their own space but still be together--and so glad it can be enjoyed when we are not there!!
