We have been renting the same beachfront home in the PV area for the last seven years. We were saddened when the home we had always stayed in was sold and apprehensive to try a new place. Trying a new place brought many worries to mind- we were worried about the house itself (would it be as pretty?), our comfort level around the staff, cleanliness, the chef.... In the end, every moment spent worrying was wasted - Casa Pena Del Mar is a slice of heaven in absolutely every way.
My husband found Casa Pena Del Mar on Home Away and began communicating with Roger, the owner. Roger was so accommodating and friendly that my husband actually commented on it. A true pleasure to work with and always responded in a timely manner.
We arrived to find a beautiful home which has been impeccably maintained. The pictures don't do it justice. The home is decorated with elegance and yet is incredibly comfortable. I loved the little touches- and they are everywhere. It is very open to the ocean and gives you a spectacular view around every corner. One day as I was walking out of the kitchen, I glanced up, was stopped cold in my tracks, and took in the view. I felt so privileged to be in a home like this.
Perhaps better than the home, which isn't really possible, was the staff. The most friendly, hard working, and helpful people I have ever met. Maria and her daughter, Elena, manage the house. They tended to every detail. Anticipated our needs and were on top of things from the moment we arrived until our departure. They actually woke up at 4:00 am to send off part of our group off with a hug. Sondra, the chef, was amazing and prepared delicious meals every morning and night. We didn't go out once!! Amanda is the housekeeper and keeps the house in top shape, she actually straightens the fringe on the carpets!! The day we left they were preparing the house for a later arrival. They actually took the mattresses off of the beds to clean behind the beds and were cleaning the outside windows.
We had a large group of varied ages and were very comfortable in terms of space. Everyone had lovely accommodations if they wanted some privacy. The house was also child friendly. I have 5yr old twins that thought they had gone to heaven.
All said an done- we felt incredibly comfortable, pampered, and lucky to find something as special as this experience. We can't wait to go back.
