The history of the Blue Pearl and the land upon which it is built is a history rich with art, music, creativity, and self-expression. The previous owners were both artists. And before them, the home was owned by the legendary Ruth Ingalls, a grand dame who turned the property into a Creative Arts camp – a dynamic place where Bob Dylan and many other locals sent their children to learn, grow, and experience.

Jimi Hendrix once lived across the street. So did Jimmy Cobb, the legendary drummer who played with Miles Davis, George Bellows, the great American painter lived on the next block. And today, the tradition continues. Within a five-minute drive are the homes and studios of more than 40 artists – many of whom will be happy to show you their work (if we give them just a bit of notice).

From the outside, it is quite unassuming, appearing to be a modest Woodstock artist's cottage. Inside, however, the Tuscan-toned interior opens to reveal fabulous art, architectural details, and elegant furnishings with Eastern accents and romantic touches. Many who have been here liken it to a modern day sultan’s den – a secret place to renew, refresh, and rejoice.

The newly-renovated cottage features 20 ft. ceilings with skylights, polished wood floors, oriental carpets, fully-equipped kitchen, and two queen-size beds with luxury linens. One bed is positioned under a rose-colored chandelier and skylight. The other serves as a canopied, sultan-style sofa in the great room – a room that also contains a dining area, library, office, and cozy sitting area in front of the fire in the gas-fueled heat stove. Located on a quiet, private lane less than a mile from the center of town, the Blue Pearl includes a sunny meadow, a lush yard with gardens, and a private sitting area that provides a breathtaking view of the mountains.

Truly, the Blue Pearl is a hidden gem – what former guests have described as “a work of art' and a well-known travel magazine described as 'the lodging equivalent of a consciousness raising event that inspires renewal of mind, body and spirit.”
