One Fantastic time...
The week went too fast and we really didn't want to leave...I mean How many times do you get to play on your own island for a week? The best compliment I can give is...that the house, besides being top notch, felt like a home to us as soon as we walked in. Linda had fresh flowers in the living room and a yummy cherry pie was waiting for us in the kitchen.
We brought along our two Portuguese water dogs, who finally got to act like the water dogs they are, swimming and running in the lake as often as they pleased. The island was just great...and the surrounding water allowed you to walk around the whole island on the waters edge. Just make sure you bring along water/beach shoes. Exploring the wooden area on the island, which I call the forest preserve (being from Chicago) was a lot of fun and we did that daily.
My husband fished off the pier & caught a couple large mouth bass there. He also took the SS Whimpy out daily fishing,& got lucky, but he kindly threw them all back even thou some were keepers.
What we found out that was really nice about this island is that it is narrow and long...so you can be on either side of the island or water in a matter of a minute or 2, then have long walks from one end to the other. Decking was wrapped around 3/4 of the house so there were relaxing areas everywhere with different views. And the fire pit was a nice feature to have.
The main land is only a very few minutes away and once in your car, shopping is close, about 10-15 minutes away. Besides the basic shopping (grocery stores etc)...we went into Traverse's downtown area (great shops) and another day we drove up to Bay Harbor.
I thought being on your own private island and having all that nice privacy & time, that I would have time to read some magazines & that Bob and I would play cards. But No! & its weird to say... but...we just had no time to do either of those things.
Oh and you should know... even thou the pictures listed here on the site are great,in person it's even better looking.
We rate this stay as one of our most favorite vacations. We all had a blast on Namaste Island.
Thank you!!! Linda for all the kindness you gave us and letting us stay in your beautiful home on the island.
We truly miss being there and hope to see you next year.
Hug!& Licks,
Bob,Judy,Cooper & MabelMay
