About Hank Shaw

Hi! We're Dee and Hank Shaw, owners of Rancho Deeluxe. We've owned Rancho Deeluxe for over 25 years. It's been our family getaway place. We only started renting out the property in 2008 and, in that time, have built a loyal base of 'Rancho Deeluxe Regulars' who come back over and over again.

Hank Shaw purchased this house in 1987

Why Hank Shaw chose Paso Robles

Rancho Deeluxe offers the perfect setting for family gatherings and wine tasting events. With five bedrooms and a den offering sleeping quarters for 12, the house is large enough to spread out, yet intimate enough to have family dinners around our 100+ year old oak dining table. Our two covered verandas offer fantastic views of the Paso Robles valley -- the perfect spots to watch the sun rise with a cup of coffee, or the sun setting with a glass of local wine. Guests tell us they often abandon their plans in town because they decide they'd rather hang out on the porch with friends and family. We do likewise whenever we visit the ranch.

What makes this house unique

The home is a classic log cabin. It has a rustic appearance, but with modern amenities, and is filled with antiques collected from our travels. There's no other home in the area like it.

Amazing!

We stayed here for our wedding. We had all of our family and friends over for a BBQ and some stayed there during the trip. It was beautiful and perfect. Everyone loved sitting on the porches and talking late into the night. Absolutely no issues here. The owners were readily available by phone when we did have a question. I loved the house. Thank you so much!

The view, family and friends = Fun! Fun! Fun!

My stay was just as lovely as it was on my first visit. The house accommodated everyone. All the first timers were in awe. So many pictures were taken of the view. Many nights spent on the front and back porch just kicking back, drinking our wine from Opolo and Vines On The Merrycrest and admiring the view.

On the hot day we drove to Cambria and enjoyed the beach but you do not have to because the house is air conditioned. Even on the 104 day, it cooled down by six and by eight you needed a light sweater.
On one of our last days, went to Jocko's in Nipomo. If you have never been, make sure to make a reservation and go

Hank is a wonderful and will make sure your stay is awesome. You can not find a better place, especially if you have a big group. This is the kind of place you want to come back to again and again.

What a great place to stay! Our family had a wonderful retreat again! Views, views, panoramic views! So much space, well stocked kitchen, big gathering area inside and outside for family and friends to make memories. Wine tasting, long walks, the lake, and even boutique and farmer's market in town. Always something going on. A retreat for more than one family at a time (or even corporate retreats). Owner has thought of everything. Extremely clean, comfortable, great location, Wi-Fi (we always have electronics), but you could easily shut out the world and get away from everything at this excellent retreat! I kept thinking while I was there that it would be a great place for a wedding, girls get away, milestone wedding anniversary, etc.. Last year and this year we had time as a family before school started and we knew we would be so busy. Thanks again for fun time away!

Charming House In Great Location

  • 5 of 5
Great property perched in the beautiful hills of Paso.

I have stayed a few times with groups of friends and every time everyone enjoyed the house and had a wonderful time. The location is perfect--close to town (just a short drive), near all the wineries and an easy drive through the hills to the ocean and Hearst Castle.

We usually reserve a night for dinner in town and then the rest of the time to relax and enjoy the beautiful views and cook and BBQ after a lovely day of wine tasting. Private wine tour companies will pick up and drop off right at the house.

I would definitely recommend Rancho Deeluxe to anyone looking for a great house in Paso. Hank, the owner, is fantastic to make arrangements with and is super helpful in recommendations. Arrival and departure is a breeze.

A great stay and look forward going back.

Great location- Perfect for our group

  • 5 of 5
We recently rented this property with 3 families, and 7 children all under the age of 9. The property is spacious enough that we never felt like we were on top of each other. The kitchen is well stocked, and we were were able to find everything that we needed to go pseudo-gourmet with our dinner preparations. Great location, great views, and great for kids. We will definitely be back!

Deeluxe experience in Paso!!

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I have stayed at this ranch during the summer for several years, and each time it is better and more memorable. We love Paso Robles, wine tasting, and going on Lake Nacimiento, so this location and home is perfect for for all three. Here are some of our favorite aspects of the ranch:

1. Location, Location!!
This ranch is located on acres of land a little ways off the main drag. It is so nice to go on vacation and relax without all the crowds of hotel goers and traffic. Every morning we can wake up, enjoy some coffee on the porch, or go for a relaxing walk/run around the property. The ranch sits on top of a hill so the view is spectacular!

2. Vicinity to Wineries & Lake Nacimiento
This ranch house is just West of downtown Paso Robles, so there are tons of options for wine tasting, there are even two tasting rooms within walking distance!! The ranch is also located next door to some vineyards for the local wineries. Since it is west of downtown, the ranch is also on the way to the lake!

3. Log Cabin Atmosphere, but still the comforts of home
We really love the atmosphere this ranch has with the beautiful architecture, but still some great amenities. This is not going to be room service, or pay per view, but there is wifi :) Either way we love the vibe or this ranch!!

There is so much more we could say...it really is a great experience!!

Overall we love coming up to Rancho Deeluxe every year and would not stay anywhere else.
