The Black Hills is a beautiful place to vacation. There are virtually endless things to do and see in this historic place. The weather is agreeable and if you are into winter sports or 4 wheeling, this is the place to be. Most cabins are built as homes that owners rent out. Our Lodge was built for renting out. It is designed for the rentor not the owner.
We are located on a very private lot located in Lead, SD halfway between Deadwood and the ski slopes. You look down on a meadow nestled in the Hills out the front window and you have a view of Mt Custer off the deck in the rear. Everything needed is a very short drive.
Thunderridge Lodge is a great place to stay. Very clean. Plenty of room for our family of eight. The four bedrooms, four baths, and five TVs was great--everyone had their own space. We really enjoyed cooking together in the huge kitchen, and grilling on the gas grill. The location is very private with beautiful views. A mule deer and her two fawns would greet us every morning. The location makes for convenient sightseeing in the Black Hills. The owner was very helpful, answering our many questions. The only drawback was that the hot tub wasn't working, but this did not detract from our stay. All in all, Thunderridge Lodge is a great rental property.
Beautiful cabin. Everything you might need is provided. Tons of towels, etc., seven beds, four bedrooms, hot tub, nice kitchen, pots, pans, even condiments in the refrigerator & cabinets. My main complaint is upon arrival, I ran a load of laundry only to have EVERY PIECE OF LAUNDRY RUINED in the dryer!!!! There was some sort of black build-up on the screen in the back of the dryer which caught on and melted onto EVERYTHING. Upon leaving the cabin, we discovered in the guest book written by prior guests that this has been happening for 2-3 years!!!!!! If only I had known.... :(((((( NOT a good start to a week long vacation. We had to string up a laundry line outside and had very crunchy & slow- drying laundry for the remainder of the trip.
Perfect place for our retreat! Comfy beds, plenty of room, very clean and good location.
The kitchen had everything we needed. I would recommend this lodge for any retreat or family reunion.
The place looks better than the pictures!
My family met at ThunderRidge for a get together and it was awesome. It was really nice that each bedroom has it's own shower and no bedrooms had adjoining walls. We grilled steaks out on the deck and everyone was really pleased with the place. Thank you so much
There was 11 of us, and this worked great for our family getaway. The view was amazing, wildlife everyday, relaxed in the hot tub. It was a nice central location to our site seeing. We would definitely go back to this cabin again.
Intially I was hoping we could stay closer to Mt Rushmore, but so glad we stayed in Lead! Enjoyed the gold mine tours, trails, visits to Spearfish, Deadwood, Sturgis, Bear Butte, Devils Tower! The property was great. It was clean and well stocked, even had detergent for washer. We were greeted by a doe and fawn in the driveway on arrival, saw deer nearly daily, as well as the parade of wild turkeys morning and evening. Only issue was lack of sufficient trash cans for weekly pickup, and difficulty waiting for hot water in the kitchen. There were eleven of us and the space was well designed. Wish we could go back and see all the sights we didn't have time to see in our week!! Being pet friendly was our first requirement and the tile floors were perfect!
