Twin Ponds is a newly renovated, elegantly decorated, peaceful country homestead that will get you away from it all. Best of all you have it all to yourself!
This historic home played a big part in the underground railroad system many years ago.
Evenings unwind, relax & enjoy the magical views of the ponds and creek from your private wooden hot tub and new creek side deck. If you time it right you may even get to see the new fawns playing in the pasture. Enjoy nature and all the wildlife in this peaceful setting with all the stars at night providing your backdrop.
During the summer months the fire flies put on a show just for your viewing pleasure and entertainment. Best seats in the house are the hot tub, back deck or front porch.
Take the opportunity to catch record breaking large bass & other fresh water fish from your own ponds. Nothin' better then grilling them up fresh right outside your back door on our large grill.
The kitchen provides another pond view with 20 acres of fields & forests for your scenery.
Our country kitchen comes fully stocked with some of the best cookware and china available. You will have fun cooking in your unique farm style kitchen.
Feeling elegant then serve up that gourmet meal in the beautiful antique dining room off of the kitchen. Enjoy your gastronomical delight in your formal dining room by peaceful candlelight.
Afterwards kick back on your own private deck with your private creek cascading past. Or take a stroll up to the outdoor table and chairs located between the second and third ponds and watch the creek go fast flowing by while you sip your coffee, beer or wine.
We have chairs placed here and there along the ponds and creek. All you need to do is find your favorite location to sit down, take a break, read or chat to your honey.
On the side of the house there is an old stone fireplace that you could even cook on top of. If you prefer there is a portable fireplace to enjoy the dancing flames in the cool of the evenings.
Our babbling brook will lull you to sleep every night in your spacious bedroom. Sip your morning coffee in bed while watching the wildlife on the pond directly outside your bedroom window. The beautiful Magnolia Bedroom set provides you with a romantic Queen Bed and a heavenly new mattress for the best night sleep imaginable. It has been rumored that particular mattress is compatible of just sucking you in for the night where you don’t even move a muscle before the sun starts coming up in the morning.
Nightstands are both equipped with reading lamps, in case you both would like to do a little reading before the romancing begins.
In the corner of the room is a beautiful Secretarial Desk and book shelf in case you brought your laptop & want to email your friends to let them know how much fresher, younger and happier you are feeling at Twin Ponds.
The big plus is a large walk in closet with built in luggage bench. There is an ample supply of robes & hangers along with an ironing board, iron and laundry baskets. Also provided are the finest linens, towels and down comforters.
Freshen up in your 2 person steam shower while looking out at the large pastures. Or relax and soak in our antique tub and enjoy a view of the pond.
Slip outside your front door and take a gander at your living room window. It will bring back nostalgic memories of the Christmas Movie's famous “Major Award”. Probably the first time in your life that you will get to see it up close and personal, lit up at night from the outside. (Yes, I'd like to break it too.)
What ever you do don’t shoot your eye out with the Daisy Red Rider hanging over the kitchen door for safe keeping.
The spacious living room provides piano players an opportunity to bang out some tunes on our beautiful Steinway Grand Piano complete with ivory keys. Or simply cuddle up and relax on the comfy living room furniture while you settle in and watch a great movie from your own huge video library.
There is a small outdoor kennel and private field for training bird dogs if your loyal companion is traveling with you. Also dog beds, toys and bowls inside. Our 4-legged friends are all welcome provide no dog hair is ever left behind.
We love the country and are thrilled to give others the opertunity to experience what we get to enjoy everyday.
Karen Carroll purchased this farmhouse in 2012
Unlike your typical B & B you get the entire home all to yourself. So it is the B with out the Breakfast. But you have your own private kitchen to cook up anything you want any time you would like it.
Two full bathrooms is another plus. No waiting.
Fantastic Fishing, no liciense needed.
Having your own home and space to do whatever you like when you want to do it. Plus Lots and Lots of Fresh Air.
Let me begin by saying how clean and organized this home was. As soon as we walked in it felt so welcoming. The fact they took the time to put small details into it impressed me. The on suite bath tub was set up with a candle, wine glass, wash cloth ,lavender soap and a book :) that was were I spent most of my nights..My boyfriend spent his time in the jet/sauna shower. Just too say I bring my own towels and sheets when I go away. But this place had quality sheets and towels. The bed was AMAZING I haven't had a good night sleep like that in so long. They are also pet friendly with a variety of beds for your pet and dog bowls. The open space in the back was a plus my dog had so much fun. Due to the weather we didn't have the opportunity to use the hot tube :( but hope to visit again in the spring/summer. The owners were pleasant and were always available if needed, Karen even sent me a list of local places to visit. I must say booking this place and communication with Karen was a breeze.
Thank you so much Karen & Mike for a long over due peaceful three days :)
I look forward to going back in the spring/summer.
We could not have been more pleased. From the moment we entered this home we felt relaxed. We felt right at home with all the comforts and extras that we found. You would expect to find run of the mill kitchenware and linens, towels, etc. but not here. Here we found handmade beautiful dishes, comfortable linens, lush towels and terry robes. We would not have had to bring a thing but clothes and food. The fields and ponds and surrounding areas are beautiful and quiet. Lots of places to sit and relax. Karen and Mike were more than attentive and were available for any of our needs. We wish we could have stayed much longer. Would love to return.
We always rent a home for vacations and weekends away, and are familiar with bringing everything but the kitchen sink with us just in case. Twin Ponds was a welcome exception to the "in-case" scenario. Beautiful inside with a myriad of furnishings and artifacts from the incredible orchid which greeted us on the kitchen table to the window leg lamp from "A Christmas Story", Steinway piano, lovely china and an amazing antique looking push button stove and cooktop with a built in steamer. The kitchen left us wanting for nothing. The view from the back deck is gorgeous. Looking over one of the three ponds to a large expense of field we witnessed a large blue heron, turtles, kingfisher and what we finally identified as a "Least Bittern", along with the occasional splashing of jumping fish. The bed is super comfortable, and while it took a little while to get used to the steam shower (couple of slight accidents after realizing you need to have the doors closed while operating...sorry), I am a convert to this method of waking up. Struggle a few paces from the bed in the morning, sit in the shower, turn on the steam and gently perspire for about 15 minutes before the conventional morning shower...with music from the built in radio if you wanted. Amazing.
The grounds are expansive with three ponds and two hot tubs (one propane and one wood fired). We only used one - I mean how many do you really need? We picked some fresh basil from the garden for our meals, and spent many happy hours either hot-tubbing or simply enjoying the view on the deck with very comfortable chairs, a frosty mug (supplied) of beer (also one supplied), or a glass of champagne (also supplied). Not so bad.
We stayed 4 nights and would have loved more. If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing, stress free experience where everything is supplied, everything is good quality and everything works, this is your place. Civilization is only 10 minutes (or less), but you feel you are a million miles away. My guess is if we needed anything, our hosts would be more than happy to oblige....but we didn't need anything. Our thanks for a great long weekend.
Note: For all you city slickers, bring some sort of repellant in season. It's the country, and there are bugs especially at night (shocking really). We bought citronella's and they worked.
We had a great time at Twin Ponds, quiet, relaxing and great bass fishing too. The house has a lot of character, very large rooms with great views of the property. The deck off the kitchen was nice for taking in the evening sunset and then viewing the stars after dark. The two bathrooms were terrific too, what a great idea, each of us had our own space. We would definately like to plan a return trip.
in a few words ,relaxing comfortable and peaceful
Beautifully kept house and property. The house is stocked with everything you need from pans, to robes. There us a wonderful property with a quaint Creek to lull you to sleep, and three private ponds well stocked with fish! It was very important to us that our dogs were alliwed, and they were not only tolerated, but welcome with toys on the dog beds, an outdoor dog kennell, and a field that any dog would find heavenly. We really enjoyed our private, relaxing weekend at Twin Ponds, and we would recommend the getaway to any couple or small family looking to relax and enjoy a country style, private vacation.
