We only rent by the week. This winter we added 3 bedrooms on the back side of the house. One is a private room with a queen bed,one is a bunk room (2 beds) and the third (Bonus room with TV) has two single beds with a sofa bed that is a double bed. Sleeping will be for 12.We added about 48 square feet of pantry storage, and added some storage in the kitchen. The deck is also larger with a new south view of the beach trom the new bedrooms and deck
Last year my wife and I were looking for a larger home on a canal to use as a retirement home. We looked many houses. We realized that the things we like about 2BeachFun are how quiet and spacious it feels. We have vacant lots on the North and West sides of the house. East across the street is a vacant lot that gives us not only a view of the beach to the East, but also we don’t see or hear any neighbors.
We are only 150 feet from the beach on a dead end street. THERE ARE NO MOTOR VEHICLES ALLOWED ON THE BEACh
2beachfun is 150 feet from the beach.: We are on a dead end street. We have suffcient parking for about 6 cars under the house and on the grass driveway. We have gates on the deck at the stairs and at the ramp to keep small children and pets from wandering off. The ramp is not ADA, but it is good to have for elderly people and pets who find stairs difficult.
We installed storm proof windows and door 2 years ago so when the windows and door are locked, you can break the glass but you cannot make a hole large enough to break in. It also made the house quieter.
Weekends were always too short for us at the beach. So last November we sold our homestead of 34 years and moved here to the beach. We just love it. We still commute to Houston to work as needed. We intend to live here October to May every year. During the summer we will vist our children and grandchildren who live in 4 distant locations in the USA.
We take Master card and Visa on line.
SLEEPING BEDS
The most people that can sleep comfortably is 12.We added 3 bedrooms on the west end of the house. It is 625 square feet added to the 1036 in the original house.
The house will sleep 8 people in 4 bedrooms, 2 in the Master with a queen bed (private bath), another NEW BR with queen, a New bunk room with 2 beds, the New large bonus room 12 by 25 with 2 single beds and a sofa that makes into a double bed.
In the original living room next to the fire place is another sofa bed that makes into a queen. This totals 12 people in beds. There is room for a blow up queen which we have in the house this year in the MBR closet. That is not included in the bed count.
We sold our homestead of 35 years in Houston and moved here. We needed closet space so we took the old bunk room which had 2 bunks and a double bed and made 2 walk in closets for us to use and store items in when we are away.
We added a pantry section in the new hall that is about 8 by 8 feet with shelves 16 inches deep to keep groceries in. We also added some cabinets in the kitchen and a new exhaust fan hood that vents outside.
We have about 750 feet of deck on the east and south side of the house. We always have a shaded deck area all day long that moves with the sun.
On the ground floor where the flower garden is we added 2 outdoor ceiling fans and lights so you can sit there under the fan and have the mosquitoes blown away if they are out. Mosquitoes vary with the rainfall. About 3 weeks after a rain they hatch out. The sprinklers for the flower beds come on automatically every other day at 330 AM to water the flowers and refill the bird baths. Please do not try to adjust the water faucet the hose is using. There is a long hose at the front of the house that will reach the back area if water is needed there.
There is a hammock, a glass table and 4 chairs, a wood work table, outdoor shower that we really like as the shower head is great. It came from our Houston home Master Bath. The charcoal grill is usually in the shower where it is shielded from the high winds the thunderstorms bring. Bring your own charcoal. I had to replace the gas grills annually as they rust quickly. This new grill is cast aluminum copied from the 1950’s.
We have two HVAC systems. One for the original house and one for the new addition as well as ceiling fans in all the rooms except bathrooms. We added new exhaust fans for the bathrooms that come on automatically if the humidity reaches a certain point. The bath light switch has 3 buttons. Top one is on all the time to automatically exhaust the high humidity after a shower. It turns of by itself. The middle button is for the 4 watt night light. The bottom is for normal light.
The sheets for the Queen sofa in the living area are in a white box at the foot of the MBR Queen bed.
