Overview

Wilkesboro Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Loft, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-6)

The peace and quiet of the Brushy Mountains that surround this cabin along with the comfortable, cozy cabin itself makes for an ideal get-away that offers rest, relaxation, and de-stressing. Unplug and get away from it all. Reconnect with yourself and those you love.

This cabin is located about an hour and a half northwest of Charlotte, near North Wilkesboro and Wilkesboro, NC. It is situated high up on the mountain and has a beautiful mountain view. Please NOTE: The road up to the cabin is very steep in some places and requires a suitable vehicle that can climb a steep incline. The cabin is also an hour from Winston-Salem, and about 35 minutes from Boone and Appalachian State University. It is very close to the Blue Ridge Parkway and Blowing Rock.

Several festivals occur close by throughout the year: Merle Fest in April, Chicken Fest on Memorial Day weekend, and the Brushy Mountain Apple Festival in October. Nearby Stone Mountain offers several hiking trails and tours of an old homestead. The New River is the perfect spot to canoe. Several local wineries offer tours, and there are many hiking trails nearby. Mountain biking and cycling is also very prevalent on and around the Brushy Mountains.

Come for a weekend, or a week and enjoy the wrap-around deck with an exhilarating view in all seasons. Have a cup of coffee and watch the sunrise. The wood burning fireplace provides a cozy atmosphere on chilly nights. If you are looking for a beautiful place to relax and de-stress, this is it!!

Why Leslie M. chose Wilkesboro

We decided to buy this property because of the beautiful view on top of the mountain. It is very peaceful and relaxing. There are many things to do in the surrounding areas, including sightseeing, hiking, dining, canoeing, and much more. Or, if you just need a weekend get away, this is ideal! Hope you can come visit our cabin in the beautiful Brushy Mountains!

What makes this cabin unique

It is wonderful to experience nature and the beauty of the mountains. We also love being close to the Blue Ridge Parkway, wonderful mountain towns such as Boone, Blowing Rock, and West Jefferson. There is so much to do!! And, you can also just relax and do nothing.

Great Get-Away!

  • 4 of 5
Wonderful location! Leaves were changing with a bit of chill in the air. My two year old toddler had a blast exploring the trails and hiking in the woods. Despite not having cable TV, it kept the family outside by the fire pit, exploring the woods, or playing ‘trucks/cars’ all around the huge deck. Cabin was wonderful and I plan to return, but maybe at a different time of the year than October. Bugs, Bugs, Bugs…EVERYWHERE! I spent most of my day vacuuming stink bugs. They came in thru the windows, doors, and floors. Every time I turned around they would reappear, more of a nuisance than anything. We only left the cabin once, which was for groceries, and our 2wd Jeep handled the rocky drive fine.

My son picked me up in Charlotte. We stopped for groceries and dinner along the way so by the time we got to the address it was pitch black. Our GPS was not working adequately and the directions from VRBO were hard to follow at night. So the road off the main road (where you DO need a 4 wheel drive) was a bit daunting as it plunged and twisted through the deep forest. Finally we came up out of the trees and there it sat in the moonlight. The stars were unbelievable. We found the key and entered the cabin. It was just as pictured on the website. Delightful. Everything in order, fresh, clean, welcoming. We had the best sleep (great beds). In the morning we saw the jaw-dropping views from the deck and felt the peace and I knew when my son flew back to Florida I was going to be fine. I was there to write and glad not to be distracted by internet/texts which were mostly unavailable. (It was pretty fun when one did get through!) The jeep that my son left with me was perfect. I soon felt comfortable navigating the country roads and enjoyed my weekly trip into Wilkesboro or Boone for supplies. The owner came a couple of times to spend the weekend in the guest cabin and we became fast friends. Lovely lovely person! I miss it already. Can't wait to go back!

Better than we dreamed of!

  • 5 of 5
We had the pleasure staying at this cabin during a recent music festival and could not have been more pleased. As noted in the other reviews, you do need 4WD/AWD to reach the property as it is at the top of winding and steep gravel road. Once you reach the top you are instantly rewarded with wonderful, far-reaching views and a lovely yard area surrounding the cabin. entering the cabin will just increase your sense that you have arrived at a great destination. It truly felt like a home away from home. A nice kitchen (in which we made great coffee and had terrific breakfasts each morning), and homey living room with fireplace, two bedrooms and a bathroom on the first floor, and a loft with two more beds. Deeply restful sleep with cool mountain breezes; what could be better! We had our instruments with us and filled the home with music and laughter until the wee hours every night. The deck is large and lovely and the stars a shine brightly being up so high and away from the city lights. We really loved this place and plan on coming back. while my brother handled the reservations etc., I can say that the owner was great to work with! Five stars all around. I miss it already.

Peaceful and Rustic

  • 5 of 5
Stay in an original log cabin built by a bootlegger in the Brushy Mountains of North Carolina. It was everything a log cabin should be, but be warned, it comes at a price - the cabin is isolated and is at the end of a steep, switchbacking hard-packed gravel/dirt road - yes you will need 4-wheel drive to get up to the cabin. But for the adventurous, that's not a problem. Once you arrive, you probably won't want to leave if what you're looking for is:
lovely views of the mountains, sunrises and sunsets, swooping rides on a board swing, fires in the fireplace every night, surroundings that include heavy wood furniture, quilts, and log walls. Things we didn't mind but you might want to keep in mind for yourself - only one bathroom so you all have to share; the loft requires ducking your head while on the stairs, dark living/dining room so you have to share lamplight to read by. The kitchen was well equipped. We didn't use the deck much because we were there during a cold spell, but it looked very inviting. They do accept some pets, so ask. Although there's limited tv, we wanted to disconnect for five days so we didn't bother turning it on. Intermittent cell service let us check email and the weather when we wanted. The only intrusion from the world was the radio we turned on in the morning. And the price was unbeatable! If you do need to get into town it's only 20-25 minutes to Wilkesboro/North Wilkesboro. We stayed there with our daughter and son-in-law.

Simply a great place to stay!

The property is really amazing. It has great views, rolling hills, lots of places to explore, and loads of trails. The fire pit is perfect for bonfires and roasting marshmallows. Very quiet both at night and daytime, with no traffic or other tourists nearby. The cabin itself was very spacious, warm, functional and comfortable. I highly recommend this place. When the timing is right, I'd go back in a heartbeat.

Sunyata was awesome !

  • 5 of 5
I was only able to stay 2 nights due to other commitments, but wish I could've stayed a week ! The views were outstanding from this mountain top cabin. Far better than only being able to see a lot of trees. It's much bigger than I thought it'd be, but still maintains that cozy authentic log cabin feel. The property is also well-maintained and offers lots of open grassy areas in addition to the surrounding woods and trails. There is something special about being on top of a mountain too. I highly recommend it and hope to return soon!
