Overview

Tannersville House Rental Photos and Description

2 bedrooms, 1 bath, *****MAXIMUM # OF ADULTS IS 2, MAX KIDS IS 3

A Bohemian's delight, but BEFORE YOU GO ANY FURTHER, PLEASE KNOW: We will not be accepting parties that do not fit within the specified MAXIMUM of 2 (TWO) ADULTS...it's not a party place. We respect our neighbor's quiet enjoyment of their primary homes and have this stipulation for their consideration.

A second and very important stipulation is that we are a 'no wearing outdoor shoes in the house' kind of house. If you are not comfortable committing to this house rule, this is not the place for you. It's important to us to minimalize dirt, environmental contaminants and allergens in the cottage, so we do not wear shoes throughout. We are also a non-smoking, no pet property. We love pets, we have 2 of our own, but many people are allergic. Regretfully, we can not accept your fur baby, no matter the circumstances. IF ANYONE IN YOUR PARTY HAS ANAPHYLACTIC ALLERGIES TO PEANUTS, YOU SHOULD NOT RESERVE THIS PROPERTY. Due to our being in the woods, we do have traps set that are baited with peanut butter. We do not believe in chemical pest control, and so, we use the most natural methods possible. Unfortunately, this does pose a great risk for anyone with severe peanut allergies.

We do not book new guests in on the same day that current guests are set to leave~ this is because we don't want our existing guests to feel rushed out nor do we want to take any chances that anything is missed in preparing the property for a new guest. We want everyone to be happy. Please note we DO NOT check people in on major holidays, because we personally meet our guests and show them to the place. The holidays included in this definition are New Year's Eve, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. During Christmas and New Year break, there is a 3 night minimum. This is due to our not checking people in and out on the same day.

It is 5.5 miles to the Camelback ski mountain. It is a ten minute drive due to the nature of the curvy roads approaching the ski mountain. The Crossings are 4 miles, literally at the bottom of the road from this property.

It's a sweet little place in that it is certainly chock full of all the comforts of home, but far from the expensive 'all bells and whistles' hotel accomodations. The main thing here is the location, the setting and the price.

One of the best features is how tucked away the cabin is beneath 100 foot pine trees, giving it that true 'you are in the mountains' kind of feel, yet just a few miles down the road are all of the main attractions of the region.

There is a master bedroom with a queen bed , loveseat and flat screen t.v. opening into the main area through double glass doors into the living room/kitchen combination, which has a futon/couch, second flat screen t.v. and then a second bedroom with bunk beds and a full bath with shower and tub.

This accomodation allows you to feel a little bit of home away from home, with actual PEACE AND QUIET, giving you the opportunity to save a little money by keeping simple breakfast and lunch foods in and not have to eat every meal out. We have a full (but small sized appliance) kitchen that will allow you to make some hot foods if you want, the option to use a keurig for your coffee making (we provide the machine, you bring your own k-kups) or Mr. Coffee brewer, fridge, microwave, electric kettle and gas range. There are two flat screen televisions with cable t.v. and many movie channels. . A hairdryer and clothes iron are also provided. ALL BEDDING LINENS PROVIDED AS WELL AS ONE BATH TOWEL PER PERSON. If you require more than one towel per person, kindly be sure to bring them along with you. Slippers in the winter months are highly recommended as the only wall to wall carpeting is in the master bedroom.

We are very close to absolutely all the highlights of the Pocono region.

About Christine

We haven't stayed in a hotel for more than one night, as a family, in many years. We believe that staying in private accommodations makes a trip more economical, comfortable and safe for our family. We are well seasoned travelers that have taken some pointers from owners all over the world to try and make this little place as comfortable as possible.

Why Christine chose Tannersville

It's in the heart of the Pocono tourist attractions, literally no more than 10 minutes from any popular tourist destination, including the Mt. Airy Casino, The Crossings Premium Outlet Center, Camelbeach and Camelback and the 'main drag', Rt 611 where all of the restaurants are!

Cozy cabin near Camelback

  • 4 of 5

The cozy cabin lived up to all of our expectations. We read several reviews and agree that the cabin is well maintained and clean. Christine was a lovely hostess and even left a couple of "boy" movies for our family of 5 (3 boys!). My only wish and why I only gave 4 stars is that the frig was a bit bigger. But, we used a cooler outside and made it work! Great stay & would stay again!!

Perfect cute little cabin!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here with my husband and two small children for a weekend of skiing at Camelback. Convenient location, warm and cozy. Christine was very thorough explaining everything when we arrived (how to adjust the heat, where the kids could find flashlights, where light switches were, where we might want to eat). House was great we would go back anytime.

Cozy "cabin" in the woods

  • 5 of 5

After many years of renting large houses for my family and several friends, my wife and I decided to downgrade to a smaller home that would accommodate just me, wife and son. Without a doubt, this small house was the perfect fit. Though it would be difficult to make large meals, there's a small kitchen (with a "dorm" type fridge) to make breakfast, light meals or bake cookies at night. The master bedroom is beautiful and comfortable with a nice television with a DVD player. This is where we spent most of the time relaxing. Christine is an absolute wonderful person to do business with. She offers hospitality that one may find at a bed and breakfast, offering help as to where to eat, shop, bring the kids, etc. She was always available to answer any questions both before and during our stay.

If you're looking for a getaway in the woods, planning on eating dinner out (or order in) and just want to relax and spend time with your family, I promise: this is the house to rent.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind words and taking the time to review your stay in order to help others decide whether our place fits their needs in future. It is always an honor and pleasure to provide people with a place to spend their precious leisure time so it is most important to me that they make an informed decision that truly matches their expectations and needs. Your review matches the EXACT experience I would hope the Old Ice House would provide. Again, I thank you for your kindness and hope to see you again in future!

Great little cabin in the woods!

  • 5 of 5

Very clean and well thought out little home. Christine was so helpful and answered all my questions promptly. She was honest and friendly. The home is set off in the woods on a gravel road, but extremely close to tannersville and all the shopping!! I loved that. We are a family of five with pre-teen kids...and we fit fine. The only problem I had was the refrigerator was "college" sized and was difficult to store items for our family. It's fine if you eat out all the time as there are plenty of restaurants to choose that are close by. What you see is what you get in the photos. If you are looking for luxury type home, this isn't the place. However, if you want cleanliness, comfort, and an affordable home with most ammenities, this is a great place. It's wonderful for an active family!!! I will be back and would recommend this home. Thanks for a great time Christine!!! It was sooo cute inside!!! I loved everything about it!!!!!!!! Sincerely, Jen

Notes:
This is a perfect 'home base' and not a luxury accomodation which the price reflects. We are the type of travelers that don't spend too much time in our room when away, but when it's time to sleep, or have a snack, we want a convenient, cozy and most of all CLEAN place to stay. This place will meet all of your needs at a fraction of the price of the surrounding hotels and resorts. We will provide you with information regarding the area and discount coupons for the outlet centers as well as some of the other attractions in the area. Please note if you are looking for a 'river experience' the ONLY places to launch are Marshalls Creek (about 15 minutes from the cabin) or Jim Thorpe (about 45 minutes from the cabin) As far as swimming in a lake, Smithfield Beach is about 25 minutes away, Promised Land is 45 minutes away, and you will find a link to these lakes here in the listing for further information.
