Welcome to the San Lorenzo Apartments, at the third floor of an ancient Florentine building, only a few steps from the Cathedral, Giotto's tower, Saint Lawrence Church and Medici Chapels.
The apartment is settled in a pedestrian area of Florence with shops, restaurants and museums around, at the third floor without lift of an old Florentine palace. At the ground floor there is one of the oldest restaurant in Florence.
Roof top apartment suitable for sleeping 2 people; panoramic, both facing the San Lorenzo's cloister and Giotto's tower, finely restructured and furnished, wooden floors and wooden beamed ceiling, very quiet, well-lit, and provided with every comfort. The apartment consists of living-room with sofa and complete kitchen, bathroom with shower and loft bedroom with a king sized bed.
This apartment was everything we expected. It felt like we were in a real local neighborhood even though we were only a block from Il Duomo and almost next door to Basilica San Lorenzo. The unit was clean and well maintained with very recently new kitchen and bathroom fixtures. It has two sets of large windows which open onto a busy street and offer views of the tops of Il Duomo and the Campanile over the opposite rooftops. However, with the windows and shutters closed, it is very quiet. One caveat: The apartment is on the third floor and there is no elevator. Neil met us on arrival and helped us get our luggage up. After that, the stairs just became part of the ambience! There are windows on every landing which offer the chance to pause and enjoy the view. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would stay again without hesitation!
We rented this apartment for 10 days last year and we were happy with it. It's perfectly located and although it's on a noisy street, you can't hear much at night. The place was clean and just like you see in the photos here. However, we did find some problems. The sofa was really unconfortable and we wouldn't have cared much about if it wasn't strictly necessary to sit on it to use internet, as no WiFi connection was available. This was a hassle, as both my husband and I needed to use our computers. Also, we really enjoying cooking (and San Lorenzo market was nearby), but cookware was scarce, so we couldn't do much. All in all, it's a great place to stay in Firenze, as long as you don't want to cook or use the internet.
Apartment was in the perfect location, use the market around the corner for a cheap homemade meal. The owner tried to install wifi but it interfered with others in the building. A suggestion would be to have a professional install the wifi as it is needed for IPad travelers. Easy walk to train station for day trips, you get used to the stairs after a few days.
This apartment is not the original listed on VRBO but the one next door as the Falleri Apartment was not available for the dates we required. The apartment is everything as described in the photos and description. It was spacious and comfortable. It is showing a lot of wear and tear of being a holiday let - with damaged walls; and ill fitting kitchen cupboards. The kitchen was not well stocked for making a 'typical fresh Tuscan salad' having neither cutting boards, sharp knives or salad bowls. However we had the best food ever tasted in the Restaurant downstairs! We had a great time with the location of the apartment it could not be in a better position for all the sights of Florence - but those with heavy luggage or not used to stairs really should carefully consider the fact that the apartment is on the third floor and there is no lift - it really does have a lot of stairs. If that does not worry you then you could not have a better location and good quality apartment stay in Florence! The apartment was clean and airconditioning worked well. Gabriella was very helpful and friendly. There is only cable broadband internet - no WiFi. All in all we would recommend this apartment to those who want to do all the sights in Florence.
