Walk five minutes in any direction, and you are in the middle of unbridled wilderness. Wonderful hiking accessible from behind our property, cross country skiing, snow tubing trout fishing, seasonal festivals, you name it!. A haven for lovers, writers, artists, musicians, and outdoor enthusiasts alike.
It's not easy to relax with a 2 1/2 year old and a job that keeps goijg- even when you try to get away- but here at the Phoenicia Loft---it happened! There is something almost magical here. Yes, we loved the spa shower and deep soaker tub (even if it was more of a kiddie pool complete with Elmo and Ernie) but the real peace came from this magnificent view, snow falling, charming town, chimes and smells of the fireplace. My son loved it here and my husband and I rekindled our love. Thank you Rebecca and Kerry for such a wonderful place. We hope to be back again soon!
My girlfriend and I were looking for a getaway from for a few nights, and the spa loft was perfect. It was quiet, well-decorated, and luxurious. The bed was extremely comfortable, the bathroom was everything that was advertised, the location was amazing, and we were very happy with our accommodations.
A beautiful, very well- appointed loft. I could not imagine a nicer retreat for a romantic getaway.
The loft was absolutely beautiful and quite large. The decor was thoughtful and kept with the tranquil theme. There were windows all around with views of the mountains in the distance, which was quite lovely. The king sized bed was super comfy. My favorite part was the bathroom, with the huge tub and steam shower. As we were there to relax, we spent a lot of time in the loft and it was heaven. My only criticism is that the binder with pertinent information was sort of tucked away and we were scrambling to figure out how to turn on the tv/cable and find the Internet password, turn on the air, etc. Also, and this is probably due to the time of year and not a huge deal, there were a number of flies inside, which we were able to shoo out through the windows.
All in all it was the perfect relaxing getaway and we would definitely return and recommend it to friends.
As mentioned before the photos do not do justice to how nice this place is. It was literally in town and you are able to walk anywhere from it. We got a chance to meet the owner and he was super nice and accommodating. The place was really clean and decorated beautifully. We stayed here with another couple and the sofa opened up into another bed which was much bigger then appears in the photo. The bathroom looked newly done and was perfect for a relaxing vacation. The view was amazing and it was perfect for a nice weekend away. There is nothing we could really complain about. We are definitely planing on staying here again and highly recommend it for anyone looking to enjoy a peaceful and/ or romantic getaway!
The pictures don't do justice to the comfort and luxury of this loft. It was a perfect way to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. Despite there not being enough things to do around the area in early winter (no skiing / crappy weather), this loft made it unnecessary to step out other than to eat at local restaurants. With our own private spa area (steam sauna and deepest bathtub ever!) and free netflix and pandora, we had a completely relaxing weekend at the location.
Phoenicia is a *really* small town, and surprisingly well-equipped to handle hungry tourists. We ate at Brio's twice, and the food was great each time. They are open early and stay open late. The Phoenicia diner is also close enough to walk in good weather. Sweet Sue's was closed during our visit. We did not get a chance to hike the nearby trail due to some running event.
The owner does not stay on the ground floor anymore so be prepared to run into other house guests from the ground floor and the adjoining cottage while you're out. The noise does carry from the cottage when there's loud music playing.
Due to an unfortunate error, the loft was locked from the inside when we reached there and the owner made it to the place in good time to open it for us. Parking is not a problem, although you're likely to risk parking on the roadside right next to a sign that says 'no parking during the night' if you arrive late.
Like another post mentioned, I was not prepared for this amazing space when I first saw the sweet country house where this loft is located (on the second floor). I had a "wow!" moment, however, when I walked through the door. The beautifully decorated large, modern bathroom has a huge tub and steam shower, perfect for relaxing at the end of the day. The huge windows in both the bathroom and the main loft that look out onto the tops of trees make you feel like you're living in a treehouse, except for the fact that you have all the "grown-up" amenities! The living and sleeping space, which was plenty of space for two adults and two kids, has a large flat screen TV, internet access, a small fridge, microwave, and a coffee pot. While this place very much feels like an escape from the city, it is still located on the main (but quiet) street of Phoenicia, which means you don't have to get in your car to go to the local park (where there is playground equipment and simple hiking trails), hit the restaurants, a few local shops, and of course, go tubing on the river. There are more restaurants, shops, hiking trails, skiing opportunities, a lake, and other activities within a short driving distance. With the huge windows and gorgeous wood and stone detail in this loft, I loved feeling like I was still experiencing the beauty of nature, even when I was inside. It's modern hip convenience and old-fashioned relaxation rolled into one great space.
