Longboat Key, Florida - a great place for Rest and Relaxation as well as time with family and friends. Listen to the rhythm of the waves from our private lanai, from the beach chairs or as you stroll along the beautiful white sandy beaches. Longboat Key offers the best of both worlds: A place to get away, but with easy access to attractions and entertainment venues in nearby Sarasota. Covert III is located directly on the Gulf of Mexico in an area with relatively little commercial development. While there are some great restaurants, bike rentals and shopping nearby, you will not find fast food restaurants or "big box" stores anywhere on the 10 mile island.

If it's too quite and you're looking for things to do, our condo is just minutes from the fabulous shopping, dining, and entertainment of St. Armands Circle. There are cultural and historical attractions in nearby Sarasota. And there are dozens of challenging golf courses throughout the area! Tampa and St Petersburg are just an hour away and Disney World is about a 2 hour drive.

Renovations in 2010-2011 include tile floors, renovated baths, new overhead lighting/fans and remodeled Master Bedroom.

About The Owner

Our family has owned this unit since the building was constructed in 1977. It is our "home away from home" for several months out of the year. We hope that you will find our place a comforting retreat from your busy life.

Why The Owner chose Longboat Key

We love being on the beach. It is great to be able to wake up to the sound of the waves crashing on the shore and be able to walk along the white sandy shore for 4+ miles in each direction. Our unit in Covert III is over 1200 square feet. With 15 units on 3 floors, the Pool and Beach are rarely crowded and the tennis court is often available (An exception to this are a few of the Spring Break weeks in early April). For the fisherman, easy access to either the Gulf or Bay is available. Bike rentals are also available within a short walk of the condo.

What makes this condo unique

While we normally fix easy breakfast and lunches at the condo, we also love to eat at some of the great local restaurants. Favorites include Mar Vista, Gulf Drive Cafe (love the Belgian Waffles) and the Blue Dolphin. Harry's has a great take-out service for those nights that you want to stay in- or eat on the lanai watching the sunset.

The property was lovely. The gulf was just steps away across a grassy lawn. The pool was very clean and the water delightfully warmish. We were glad to discover games in the unit. We prepared breakfast and lunch every day, and then at night sampled picturesque restaurants. We went fishing off the dock in Anna Maria, and hired Capt. Kathe for an eco-boat-tour -- the children were delighted with the dolphin that swam so close to the boat you could almost touch them. We visited the planetarium and saw a huge manatee close-up. The shopping at Armand Circle was fun. The only problem we had was the seaweed. A tropical storm had churned up the water for half the week. But it cleared up by Thursday. Everyone was so happy with the property.

We love Sarasota and have vacationed on Longboat or Lido for many years. This year, our daughter and her family traveled with us. The condo was perfect for our needs. The kitchen is stocked with plenty of utensils and cookware, which we appreciated. We had perfect weather during the trip, so we didn't spend much time in the unit; but it is spacious and comfortable. The reservation process and communication with the owners was great. We look forward to renting the unit again in the future.

Despite tropical storm Debby, we had a great time! The condo has everything you need, it's comfortable and a nice size, we had 2 couples in our party. The beach is nice, lots of shells. You do need transportation, we never did figure out the trolley system. Check out Casperan Beach in Venice, FL, we had fun looking for sharks teeth. The dry dock restaurant down towards Sarasota is a nice lunch place, decent price and nice view. Even though our sun days were shortened due to Debby, it was great to finally relax! Thanks Pat.

Wonderful Refuge on the Beach on Longboat KEy

We loved our stay in this well maintained, lovely, beachfront condo! From Sunrise to Sunset, we were overwhemled by the beauty of the views from both the master bedroom and the livingroom. The condo was clean, nicely furnished and so inviting. We enjoyed the beach and pool in the day and the kitchen and games in the evening! The TV's were terrific and the cable choices were good for the one day we had a rainy morning in the condo. Twice we grilled on the convenient gas grill and we had then entire place ready to dine with us! On our first night there, we walked across the street to the bay and were just amazed as we saw a school of manatee. Our son fished day and night and is already dreaming of a return to Longboat Key, Covert III, #305!
We ate and shopped in nearby locations and really wanted for nothing! Everyone was friendly and kind. What a terrific place you have in Longboat Key. We look forward to coming again!
