AMAZING TAHOE LAKEVIEW LODGE W HOT TUB, SKI OUT BACK DOOR!

Cedar Flat Lodge Rental Photos and Description

Lodge, 4 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 8-10)

Architect designed and inspired by nature, this stunning mountain home sits in a magical setting. Forest trails, sledding, hiking and biking just 50 yards away. This newer home was custom built, with clear heart redwood siding, river rock accents, and thermopane windows throughout; there are four skylights that warm the home with bountiful light. A large deck off the great room enables families and groups to relax and dine outdoors, and unwind in the New Lake View Spa.

Situated on a small circle of custom homes, there is no traffic or noise- the forest is just steps away, ideal for hiking, mountain biking, xc skiing and snow tubing. Beautiful stands of fir, sugar pine and ponderosa pines abound, and there are Incense Cedar trees that are over 600 years old, all within a seven minute walk from the house.

The home has four spacious bedrooms, an open great room with views in every direction, along with an indoor laundry room, a really nice feature. There are two large, comfy leather couches upstairs that are perfect for overnight guests.

It's classic, casual Tahoe elegance. Step inside this home, and you'll never want to leave!

About Mark Jennings

My name is Mark Jennings, Producer and Host of Passport to Adventure on PBS for the last 15 years. I grew in the SF Bay Area, and moved to Tahoe after college. We love the mountain lifestyle, and enjoy traveling the globe to create our programming, then returning to Tahoe to edit the programs; it is the best of both worlds!

Mark Jennings purchased this lodge in 1992

Why Mark Jennings chose Cedar Flat

We love the location, and the friendly ambiance; you are also surrounded by nature. The home has a Lake view south to Heavenly Valley, and as far away as Tahoe's east shore. We built the home on an ideal lot, with no traffic- hiking and biking trails, xc skiing and snow shoeing is just 100 yards away... the lakeview jacuzzi is just steps away!

What makes this lodge unique

This is a Classic Mountain Home, with all of the amenities- there is no traffic, and a wealth of outdoor adventure activities to enjoy. The home has an Extraordinaire fireplace, open living area with vaulted ceilings, and huge lake view deck. Pride of ownership is evident throughout.

Comfort, Convenience and Value

  • 5 of 5
My party of three stayed in early September. Usually, the weather that time of year is perfect however, we had a few afternoons with short thunderstorms, nothing major. Carnelian Bay is a gorgeous upscale
area only to be outdone by Lake Tahoe itself. The rental home is very convenient to restaurants, sightseeing and close to the Lake. Yet this home maintains complete privacy and undisturbed quiet in
its location. The home itself is beautifully laid out. It was designed by a master designer. The best part is that the owner lives close to the rental home and is available most of time when the need occurs. He will greet you, make sure everything is in
order and is a purveyor of information about the area as well as the history surrounding Lake Tahoe.
His restaurant recommendations were spot on. So for Comfort, Convenience and Value you cant go
wrong.

Passport to a great Vacation

  • 4 of 5
I recently returned from a five day stay at the house/lodge, which I shared with four long-time friends. The owner of the house, Producer Mark Jennings, could not be more friendly or interesting. He helped get us discounts to skiing and ski rentals and provided an interesting presentation of the area and Squaw Valley resort. The house has a master BR suite and three downstairs BRs which share one full BA. There is a half-BA upstairs. We drew straws for the BRs. The winner of the drawing would no doubt give this house five stars. I won't, as I wasn't thrilled about sharing one BA with three others. The fifth member of our group slept on one of the couches upstairs--if there were twin beds in one of the rooms, I was unaware. On the other hand, the kitchen is fine, the dining/living room is very large, there is plenty of light, and the hottub and grill on the porch add a very nice touch. We were less than 30 minutes from Squaw, about an hour from Heavenly and less than 90 minutes from Reno, as well as less than 10 minutes from shopping and dining. The property was clean and well-maintained, and the washer/dryer came in handy. There were three TVs in the house, though they got little use, whereas we did hook up our Ipods to the stereo. All in all, I had a good experience with the physical aspects of the lodging (would have been excellent if I had drawn the MBR), and an overall excellent experience due to location, ability to bond with my friends in the upstairs great room and patio, and the hospitality of the owner, Mark Jennings.

Owner's Response: It is great to see that clients are enjoying the property, it fits the needs of groups and families as well. It seems that everyone enjoys waking up to Lake Tahoe- a cup of coffee overlooking the Lake tends to put everyone in a good mood. Popping in the lakeview hot tub has become a daily ritual for many of our guests. Having immediate access to the hiking, biking, sledding and cross country skiing makes the experience so rewarding. Being just 100 yards from the trailhead eliminates the need to get in the car and drive; quite a change from the commuting to work and fighting the traffic routine.
Many of our guests are re-booking the same dates for the following year- which we feel is a great testimony to their experience.

Some of our winter guest have never seen snow, and building a snowman in the yard creates magical moments for the children that they will treasure for a lifetime!

Passport to Adventure - Tahoe Style

  • 5 of 5
What a trip! My wife and I, along with our two children and our best friends - who were visiting form London - decided upon a last minute getaway to Tahoe for Memorial Day Weekend. Mark Jennings (the celebrity owner of this wonderful Tahoe retreat) had a last minute cancellation and was advertising this property on Craigslist. He kindly agreed to let us rent the house at very short notice. From our first contact with Mark right the way through until our departure he was the perfect host. He met us the property to give us the lay of the land upon arrival and then stayed in regular contact throughout our stay ensuring that we had everything we needed. He even took us out on his speed boat for a 4 hour excursion around the lake - and let my six you old drive for a bit (which he is still talking about).

The house is gorgeous - everything you will want for a relaxing stay is there, including the awesome deck with hot tub over looking the lake. It is a short drive or 10 minute walk down to the water and only a 15 minute drive to Squaw.

We will be sure to call Mark first before booking our next Lake jaunt! Highly recommend this place!

Wonderful stay

  • 5 of 5
This was my first trip to Lake Tahoe and I'm so glad my "adventure" included a stay at this wonderful home. The host's warmth and hospitality really enhanced my experience. He went above and beyond my expectations to ensure we were well equipped, including with information/ advice on exploring Lake Tahoe.

The house is bright, open and spacious and has a lovely view of Lake Tahoe that can be enjoyed from the comfort of the hot tub. It's located on a quiet crescent and is close to walking/ ski trails that we took advantage of while there. It's also close to amenities, which we were grateful for when having to track back to the grocery store for ingredients we forgot while cooking up tasty meals in the gourmet kitchen.

I can't wait to go back and will recommend this place to my friends and family here in Canada!

Owner's Response: Winter is Wonderful, Summer is Spectacular! The house enjoys a magical lakeview setting, with hiking and biking trails just steps away. I am happy to take guests for a guided tour of our magnificent backcountry, by bike or on foot.

Shimmering Lake Tahoe is just an 800 yard stroll down the hill, and we keep kayaks on the beach, exclusively for our guests. We also have a 20 foot open bow pleasure boat, for tours or tubing on Lake Tahoe; $75 per hour includes fuel.
We can paddle along Tahoe's scenic and historic shoreline- if you are feeling spunky, we can go all the way to Garwoods Restaraunt and enjoy a lakefront lunch and a libation as well!
