What a lovely and comfortable place Cheryl has. My partner and I enjoyed our visit in this homey, lovely and quiet home. It was spacious, very clean and well stocked. Waking up in the morning and having a cup of tea on the swing chair on the porch was delightful. We will be back to rent again.
This rental is such a gem! We only stayed two nights as we were visiting Joshua Tree National Park on our way to Death Valley. However, we wished we could have taken this rental with us for the rest of the trip. The owner was incredibly responsive, made arrangements for a late-night check-in, and had everything immaculately laid out for us upon our arrival. The place had a great layout with two spacious bedrooms, a cozy living room, a kitchen better stocked with supplies than my own kitchen, a very clean bathroom, and all the comforts of home. And did I mention the view? Holy cow. Beautiful moonlit, starry sky overlooking the valley below! Unfortunately, we never even got to see the property in the daylight hours as we left to hike around Joshua Tree before sunrise and got back to the home after sunset both nights; it would have been great to have been able to explore the property and neighboring nature preserve.
Although we never had a chance to meet the owner, she took great care of us during our stay. She thought of every little detail: all the toiletries you could need, tons of seasonings and spices in the kitchen, a folder full of local restaurant menus, bookshelves full of novels, California guides, puzzles, and games. We would highly recommend this property for anyone looking for accommodations in the Joshua Tree area. It was just a short drive to the north entrance to the park. We would have loved to stayed longer. THANK YOU!
Loved everything about the cabin and anything we needed, Cheryl was there to deliver. Can't wait to stay there again.
Three of us spent a week in this awesome old cottage. Everything was as advertised and more. Our only regret was that we didn't spend more time there. Our mission was to see as much of Joshua Tree NP as we could so we only got to enjoy the great front porch for early morning coffee or evening cocktail which was always near or after sundown. Would have loved to walk the canyon right behind the cottage. Beautiful scenery. Met and talked a while with Cheryl and her husband John. They were great to talk with and were a wealth of info on the area and the history of the cottage . All three of us enjoyed the conversation immensely. Cheryl even loaned us a cooler for our car travels and let me access her Wi-Fi in a slight emergency I had. Can't thank them enough for a great time and place to stay. The cottage is stocked with all sorts of info and maps of things to see and do and Cheryl always had an answer for all our questions. It's also stocked with everything you would have at home, not a rental. I think the kitchen might be better stocked than my house. We wish we could have seen the tortoise but didn't. We watched for him every day but never saw him. Did see a good size snake on the bottom of the driveway and many birds around and we heard several Coyotes howling. The stars at night were amazing since there is no ambient light to spoil them. My wife and I are hoping to return in the fall to finish the park and spend some more time relaxing at the cottage this time. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting the area, much better and more peaceful than any hotel or motel and the price is very reasonable. Thanks again Cheryl!
We have stayed in several VRBO locations, but none as well appointed, comfortable and truly spectacular views! We were "at home" the minute we arrived. Clean, quiet, comfortable, well stocked, right down to two drawers full of DVD's and several book cases of books! Wonderful hiking in our own private back desert, and the Palm Springs shopping just a short drive away. We really hated leaving and most definitely will return. Most reasonable priced, yet most comfortable!
My husband and I stayed here for a week to celebrate our 39 wedding anniversary. The house was exactly what we expected from the description and more. The kitchen was fully equipped with many of the sundry things you need when travelling for a week - mustards, cooking oil, tea and coffee and sugar and many spices. We enjoyed a morning of hail which made the whole place magical with the white stuff sticking around for many hours. Not quite what we were expecting but we were snug and warm and had a reading and relaxing day. The home is so close to Joshua Tree National Monument which was great with the short winter days. We very much enjoyed staying here and would plan to return. Thanks Cheryl for leaving such a spotless home to enjoy.
