About Robert

My name is Robert and after years as a home builder I now manage 5 rental properties on a full time basis.

My wife and I have been together for 26+ years, have 2 sons and love to stay in and share our properties with other families and groups who want to enjoy and be respectful of the beautiful homes and life that we all have!

I can always be reached via email and text and usually reply within minutes to all inquiries, questions or issues.

I look forward to having you as my guest for your next vacation or getaway!!

Robert purchased this lodge in 2002

Why Robert chose Athens - Sleepy Hollow Lake

I am a hands-on owner and travel between my primary residence in Port Washington and Hunter Mountain every week to check on and maintain my properties... and along with my cleaning crew and local handymen do our best to keep everything in excellent condition for our guests!

This lodge was built in 2002... It was the 2nd log home I built bringing in approx. 50,000 pounds logs from B.C., Canada.

Log homes give off a 'feel' of calm and clean... A Zen-like relaxation that adds to your time away from the daily grind.

There is no sheet rock or plaster board anywhere in the house. I have used only natural woods and stones... The only plastic to be found is the light switch plates.

What makes this lodge unique

Location, Location, Location...!!!

When was the last time you vacationed on your very own private peninsula with over 750 feet of waterfront and Conde Naste 5 star views?

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Robert,

It was absolutely wonderful. We had a great time - very cozy with the fire place. The kids enjoyed the game room and the outdoors. Everyone - from my sister's 2 year old to my 70 year old mother - had a good time.

Everything was as promised. Thank you for helping make our family get together a positive fun experience!

My kids (teens) want to come again when we can ski or swim...

Thank you for being so friendly and reliable,

Toshu

A Beautiful Escape!

  • 4 of 5

Robert maintains a beautiful log cabin chalet in a private 5 acre setting. We thoroughly enjoyed the stone fireplace, outdoor fire pit, and the man cave located on the bottom floor. The family of deer frequenting the property made it a great experience to get in touch with nature. The snow is deep here in the winter, which makes the retreat that much more enjoyable. The proximity of two ski resorts (less than 25 minutes away) made it easy to take the family skiing and snow tubing. We appreciate the Laker's hospitality and will look to visit again in warmer weather.

Great cabin with lots of charm.

  • 4 of 5

We stayed here with our extended family and found it to be a super cute, well cared for cabin. Very clean and provided plenty of linens for 10 adults and 3 kids. The kitchen and dining area was tight for a winter stay with so many bodies but I can imagine it would be a perfect summer place because you could have everyone on the deck comfortably. We loved hanging out by the fire pit. The only call out is that it does not have 5 bedrooms as listed. It has 4 bedrooms with doors and 1 loft area with a bed that fits two people. The loft is above the kitchen/livingroom and completely open. An important distinction if you're planning on 5 true bedrooms. Whoever gets the loft, goes to sleep last and wakes up first. There are plenty of beds, just not 5 rooms with closing doors. Other than that, it's a great place for a ski weekend!

Had a great time over New Years!

  • 5 of 5

We have a tradition of getting together with a large group of friends (~15 people) over New Years, and this year we wanted to stay in the northeast. We came across Robert's cabin and it looked like a good combination of value and amenities so we booked it.

We had a great time. The house is spacious, and the common areas are open which made hanging out with everyone easy and fun. We had one little traveler with us (7 months old) and the house came equipped with both a portable crib and a high chair. There were plenty of linens, towel, blankets etc and the kitchen was also well equipped.

The property was gorgeous even in the winter, though I can see how it would be even more fabulous in the summer when it's warm enough to run around the yard and take a dip in the lake. If you want to venture off the property, there are tons of things to do within an hour (wineries, distilleries, Saugerties Lighthouse, and Hyde Park). We had a great dinner at Crossroads Brewing Company in Athens (a five minute drive from the house).

Robert was a pleasure to deal with - very helpful and responsive!

another great stay... won't be our last

  • 5 of 5

I've now rented this house several times and plan on renting again. I've stayed at other homeaway locations before and none take care of their property like Robert. The Beaver Lodge is an amazing place to stay. A great place to get away, relax, and have some fun.

Perfect for a family vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had such a great fall weekend at Robert's house! Robert takes pride in keeping his properties well maintained and enjoys sharing his homes with other families. He was a pleasure to work with and we'll definitely be renting from him again next year!

We had a group of 9 adults and 5 kids and there was still room to sleep more! There's lots of sleeping room, a huge yard for kids to run and play, outdoor activities like kayaking and canoeing and an awesome fire pit for roasting marshmallows. There is a beautiful view of the lake from the large deck, where there is plenty of room for everyone to sit. We were there in the fall, so the colors were gorgeous! The main room inside the house has a cozy fire place and high ceilings. There's lots of space to hang out, cook, eat and play games. All the kids loved hanging out on the bottom floor where the air hockey, ping pong and video games were. It was perfect for the adults!

The house is in a great location. You have so much privacy while you're on Roberts property, yet when you leave you realize you're not in the middle of no where. The house is in a great neighborhood with lots of other lake homes. If you go during the fall, there are Apple farms near by for apple/pumpkin picking. Also, there are markets and restaurants only a short drive away.

This house is truly a gem and the perfect place for a family vacation. I've searched around and this is the best house for a super affordable price. Thank you Robert! We'll see you next year!

Incredible Property / Beautiful House

  • 5 of 5

My group and I vacationed to the beaver lodge for a weekend get away during the Fall and had a wonderful time. The property was huge, with a beautiful view and a serene atmosphere. The house had a traditional log cabin feel yet had the capacity to sleep our group of 15 guys. The house was clean and organized upon arrival and the owner made it very easy for us to check in and check out laying out clear directions for both respectively. I know I'll be back.
